Kenny G is from my neck of the woods here in Washington! Isn't this the same song that's played during one of the "Cars" movies on the highway to get the big rig to fall asleep? So funny - but Kenny has some duets with singers that make a great pairing. Check out his collabs with Toni Braxton, Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Peabo Bryson, Whitney Houston, Aaron Neville, Smokey Robinson, Babyface, Lenny Williams, Richard Marx, and even Earth, Wind & Fire!!! So many great songs to relax to and a few bops in there too! Kenny G gets a bad rap sometimes or his music is called "corny" or elevator music - but to each their own - Kenny G is a huge success in his own right. Some other instrumental artists to consider would be George Winston and Yanni (both pianists) - Winston's "December" album specifically is magical! Although Yanni tends to land in the "corny" category - also John Tesh - but the talent and beauty of the music is what counts!! Love y'all - keep smiling!! 🎹

A lady friend of mine bought tickets for me, her and her daughter. She paid for 8th row tickets, but was given 3rd row, right seats (8th, 9th and 10th seats from the aisle). Wow, it was an incredible performance, and he dd several solos about 10-15 away from the us while either standing or leaning back up against the side stage wall. At one point, while Kenny was doing his usual "walk amongst the crowd and play", he started out in the 3rd balcony, so the lady sitting to my left (seat 7 from the aisle) told her girlfriend that she needed to go to the bathroom and that she was going now because it would take a while before he got down to our level.
While she was gone, the bass player and guitarist decided to come down to OUR level and took turns sitting in her seat ... WHILE she was gone. It was amazing but, they got done and returned to the stage, then Kenny emerged on our level and played to our side of the floor, stopped right at the edge of our row and played to us.
By the time he returned to the stage, the lady returned from the bathroom and started to sit down and her friend told her about what had happened, and she refused to believe her until everyone ... who had heard her conversation and seen the events unfold while she was gone, turned to her and said, "No, it really happened !!!" She was devastated.
So, if you ever go to a Kenny G concert, HOLD IT !!! BTW, yes, this is a Soprano Saxophone. The type your most used to is most likely either the Alto Saxophone (big, round horn at the base) or Tenor sax, the different being the size of the lower opening at the base which loops back up towards the front. However, there are 14 diffe3rent types of saxophones.
Now, you NEED to know, this song was written as a love song to a girl, and yes, he DOES do some songs with lyrics, but he doesn't sing them ... he has guest singers for that, like Lenny Williams (Tower of Power), Michael Bolton, etc.

The stage was set up in them middle of the floor for the two performers to perform "in the round," and Kenny G took off into the audience and walked all through the arena, and even up the stairs into the upper sections on the side. It was a phenomenal experience. And then, of course, after he was done, we saw a pretty young Whitney Houston do her magic. I had backstage passes that night and got to meet 'em both. One of my most favorite quotes of all time came from Kenny G. Keep 2 things in mind - I am not Christian. I'm pagan. And second, Kenny G is Jewish, not Christian. One year he put out a GORGEOUS Christmas album. His Jewish friends - and people in general - asked him why he would put out a Christmas album when he's Jewish. His response (and I'm para-quoting because I can't remember his exact words) was: "Christmas music is some of the most beautiful music ever written. Saxophones aren't horns. They are classed as woodwind instruments. It has nothing to do with the material they're made from (flutes are made of metal), it's how the sound is produced. Woodwinds need to either blow across or down a mouthpiece and many use a reed to make the sound. Brass instruments require embouchure, a way of using the lips to create a sound.
Kenny G uses a straight through soprano sax, looks a little bit like a clarinet or oboe.

Squad, look for the vocal support for Kenny G's earlier albums (mid-80s). One great one is "What Does it Take", which is on this very album. Kenny does not sing but in the 80s he surrounded himself with some great vocal talent. Ellis Hall (from Tower of Power) is the vocalist on this song, a remake that is solidly made for Kenny's style as well as the late 80s vibe.

Thank you. One of my dad's favorites. Kenny came to my town a couple years after my dad passed and my mom and I got to meet him. This was the first song he played and I was in tears throughout the whole show. Just like now.

That was a deep breath and a joy. Sax is such a versatile instrument. Fancy seeing a player playing two at the same time? It's in a solo (duet?) of "Hit me with your Rhythm Stick" by Ian Dury and the Blockheads which was a UK number 1. It's a riot and will put a big smile on your faces. Maybe someone could enlighten me which two saxes were being played? Then go back to Kenny G to calm down again.

Toni Braxton and Kenny G in concert was great! How can an angel break my heart is really good on Toni’s album which he played. Anything from the Secrets album is great and might be playing the sax on.

Kenny G is a very gifted sax player. I saw him in Portland when he was the sax player for jeff Lorber who is a fine musician in his own right, mostly specializing in funk fusion jazz. Love me some jeff lorber. He also helped launch the career of the gifted sax player and Grammy winning artist Dave Koz. Kenny G is a soft player in general. Check out The Wedding Song. It’s haunting and sweet. My fav Dave Koz album is the work he did with his brother Jeff Koz who mostly accompanies his sax playing with acoustic guitar.i think you will love his upbeat toetapper song Flat Feet to his smoothe jazz tribute to his late father Remembrance. Also that album treats you to Dave’s voice in the very sweet song, That’s the Way I Feel About You. My Back Porch is very fun. I love every song on the album and that’s rare. The song that really made me a Dave Koz fan was hit first hit I ever remember Together Again from his album, The Dance. Dave was also the sax player for Richard Marx who if you’ve never reacted to, you totally should. He’s such a great song writer and singer

I was always into instrumentals. Even back in the 70s when I was a kid. I was stunned when the synthesizer-wizard Jean-Michel Jarre had his european breakthrough in 1976/77 with 'OXYGENE IV' taken from the even successful album 'OXYGENE'.
