    Hey Max thanks for the video! I have a question about studying in Germany as an international student. So I'm currently in my 2nd year in mechatronics engineering. The course quality is not that good for me. I'm considering starting a new degree in Germany(Probably Physics or engineering physics). Which one will be easier to get a DAAD scholarship, applying for DAAD without a bachelor's degree or after getting the degree? And i watched your video about TUM, i prefer applied science like you. Which universities is better for these fields in your opinion?

    • @maxyoko
      @maxyoko  6 месяцев назад

      applying for a DAAD scholarship after completing a bachelor's degree is more common, but there are options for undergraduates too. When it comes to the Universities of Applied Sciences, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Karlsruhe - Technik und Wirtschaft), Munich University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule München), Aachen University of Applied Sciences or Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences are really good

    Your possibility of admission:
    With your educational background, you qualify for direct subject-restricted admission only to a university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) for academic studies in the subject area of your previous education.
    does that mean I can study only in Fachhochschule or I can study in hochschule? becuase hochschule is the combination of university and university of applied sciences

      It is possible to study in Germany at any age. We had a guy in my Physics degree who was 56 years old.
      Now most of the students at classic universities are going to be very young, usually fresh high school graduates but there are also people in their mid-twenties. At Universities of applied sciences, there might be more people on your age level. I would say the average age in my degree program (Hochschule München) is 23 years.

      When you extend your visa after arriving in Germany, the duration of your residence permit can vary depending on the reason for your stay. For students, typically a residence permit is granted for the duration of your studies. But you might renew it every year so that it stays valid

Could you please clarify the exact requirements for admission? Additionally, I’m curious about how students are accepted-will having a strong background in CS and numerous projects improve my chances? What exams do I need to give and are UAS really better than classic universities for International Students and are they globally recognized? Also I have completed my 12 year education in my home country but Germany requires 13 years of education, how and where can I complete that additional 1 year of education?

    In your opinion, are applied sciences Universities less reputed than General, Technical Universities? Does this matter in international job market?

    • @maxyoko
      @maxyoko  5 месяцев назад +1

      They are not well known internationally but usually if you have strong skills you will get a job everywhere. It's a bit different if you wanna go into investment banking, for example, these people value prestigious institutions

    • @frool76
      @frool76 5 месяцев назад

      These days you get the same degree from applied universities and universities. In the end it depends on what you want to do after your studies. Universities focus in scientific careers, while applied university (which are only called like that in English, they are no real universities and not called a university in German) focus on the industrial application, hence the name. Finally it depends on the person/company looking at your degree. For an industry job, a degree from an applied university should be better (e.g. because it includes internships), but some companies sadly see more scientific degrees from the university as "better". You should decide what you prefer. University give you way more freedom, but also require more autonomous work. Also you will go deeper into foundations with way leas applications. Applied universities on the other hand are often structured more or less like schools, less freedom, but also more guidance to get through.

      Switching from a private English-language university to a public one in Germany is possible, but it depends on meeting the language and academic prerequisites of the public university. I mean what is the difference between general and specific admission? & Does this mean that I do not need a studienkolleg (preparatory course)? Am kind of lost here SOS 😅😅

      Yes. However, some masters programs require a minimum amount of credit points in a certain field. So if you have a bachelor’s in information science and want to do a master’s in economics you would have to take some additional classes in econ. Depends on the university and the exact degree tho

      It depends on your situation. If you directly get a visa for 2 years, you don't have to show anything in the second year. But in general, you have to show proof that you have a part-time job or renew the blocked account with the funds from your parents for example

      The required IELTS score for admission to a German university can vary depending on the specific program and institution but I would say it's about 6.0. Alternatives are TOEFL or some universities have prep courses

    hi! i'm an american student trying to attend heidelberg university in biochemistry. the only thing i'm currently worried about is my academic record. i have two b's in calc 3 and spanish 3 from last semester. would you recommend i retake them to make my gpa a 4.0 instead of a 3.9 (i'm in sophomore year)? or what is the lowest gpa a german school would accept?

    • @maxyoko
      @maxyoko  5 месяцев назад +1

      3.9 is quite an impressive GPA. To know the exact GPA requirements for your desired program, it's best to check their official website. German universities often consider more than just grades; they may look at your overall application, extracurricular activities, motivation, and language proficiency. So it would probably be better if you focus on them instead of getting slightly better grades :)
