RAF Woodbridge, home for 4yrs…… loved it and the people of Woodbridge
lovely area indeed
If it is Woodbridge that's trespassing isn't it an army barracks now With the airfield still in use
The area you were exploring was the aircraft hot refueling pads. Thos metal doors rolled open and a refueling arm came out to hook up to the aircraft. It was the only one in Europe at the time. I was stationed at the Twin Bases from 91-93, spent many of hours working with this system.
@@daveoberle2305 the old Hot Pit
Another great explore folks and those aircraft hangars we actually went into some like that at the Cornwall heritage aviation centre which unfortunately closing
Hangars are hardened shelters designed to protect aircraft from a nuclear blast or conventional attack. Aircraft were kept inside in a state of constant readiness for interception or Strike. The F111 was at St.Mawgan Newquay and this place as these were USAF bases in Britain during the Cold War years.
Good video, great to see these ex airfields 🇬🇧👍
Great stuff 👍
One of these days that mate of yours who likes to throw switches that don't appear to be hooked up is going to activate an evacuation siren!
Interesting that all the HAS doors have been removed. The non air side looks very much in use
They were removed about 3 or so years back for scrap, at the same time all the underground cabling was torn up for the same reason. You were lucky not to have an encounter with the guys from the active area at Rock Barracks as I have seen them patrolling the area you were in and out as far as the east gate!
They look similar to the HAS on Bruugen
They have two cameras on the second HAS building, they must receive an instant notification if you go near the fence.
We were taking photos of the building outside of the fence from the Forest trail and a patrol vehicle raced along the side of the fence and towards the East Gate.
I only noticed the cameras after looking at the photos we were taking. They must have thought we were trying to get in? 🤷🏻♂️
I only went to Woodbridge once, when the Rescue and Recovery Squadron were based there. We went to Bentwaters far more often, until
they left after the first Gulf war.
You are the best in the video
Thank you very much
Picks up what could be a live shell.
Mate (helpfully) : Dig it out with a stick !!
I love it.
Nice buys but not the wisest.
fantastic vid i remember when A-10's were based at Raf Woodbrigde & at Bentwaters great airshows aswell
Tops vid gents 👍
Another winner from the crew , keeping it real , some golden gems there folks 🍻
Interesting to see RAF Woodbridge so abandoned with little use after that huge investment going to waste.
Massive site
I thought only part of Woodbridge is abandoned. Aren’t 23 Engineer Regiment now based there? You really don’t want to bump into them on your travels!
Indeed we kept well away
Don't bang it, it mite go off dig it with a stick 😭🤣😂🤪
Holds it to his ear “it’s not ticking” lol 😂🤣😂
A10 Thunderbolts A fence to keep you out LOL
thats some size of a site its BIG
5 minutes down the road from my house, not sure who is stationed there at the moment. Think it was engineers but getting replaced with something to do with chemical warfare cleanup soon, lots of activity with apaches getting flight time at the moment
Got in here a year ago and took loads of films uploaded it to my fb .
Played base football against RAF Bentwaters 82-84...They were tough

A10's were based here in the 80's
91st amu aircraft maintenance unit
RAF Woodbridge, part of the USAFE and twin bases of RAF Bentwaters.... It was given back to the British MoD. And was active for the after the American's left in 1993. Royal Helicopter Brigade trained there. During WWII it was emergency landing strip for returning British and American Bombers after bomber runs in Germany. I used to drive the AAFES Running Chef on the Bases. During Lunch and at Night... So a lot of things are gone from the base. Combat Arms Shooting range is gone... Which was on the other side of the of the base runway. I was there from 82 to 85 active duty 86 to 90 as a Civilian. I'm suprized that the MoD has let it get this bad. But your not the first to walk the base since it shut. All the Amo Bunkers have been cleared and cleaned out since 1995, when the Royal Army took it back over.
You would have been there the same time I lived there then. My dad and my family were stationed there from 1988/89 to around 1992. We lived on RAF Woodbridge but my dad actually worked on RAF Bentwaters. We left there not long after he returned home from the Gulf War and the bases had been put on the BRAC list. His service influenced my service and I served from 1999-2011.
I went to this site a few years ago we did a few nights camping on the site we felt very uncomfortable we felt like some one was watching us, it is a great site to come… Ady
Yeah is a very strange site
What year was this base in the United Kingdom
Early 1990s I believe
Were is this
Southeast United Kingdom
This will be needed again, soon became bad after it went non ops.
golden gems fokes
👍👍👍👊👊
A 10 hangers ?.....? RAF Bentwaters ? 😁😎
Not bentwaters folk
And you get to the "Old" control tower and he's still playing with any switch he can touch, not really sensible thing to do.
Lol if he gets a shock makes laughable content lol 😂
Better than pounding what appears to be ordinance on a tree branch.
"Hardened facilities" don't do "jack sh**" against 800 kilotons ground burst 🤣
Looks like a computer room with raised floor
thanks for information
Your mate is not wired up right all that poking and prodding
He’s not a robot lol 😂
