I had a '82 CR250R and loved it..... it ran like a rabid pitbull, but handled like a hammock. Brakes were scary wen heated.
Nonetheless, it made me smile every single time I rode the red rocket. Raced it, but also woods rode it. Had enough torque I could traverse steep hills under the powerband. I miss my '82 CR250R.. also miss riding. Damn spinal injury. Ugh.
Thanks for posting the movie. It made me smile. Also makes me wish I was 18 again.

I bought a 1979 RM400 brand new when I was 15 years old. I couldn't even touch the ground without leaning way over. I still own the bike and have loved it since day one.

I can't believe how long Roger DeCoster has been involved in racing. He's with KTM now, the first time I can remember him being involved with a European factory since his CZ days in the late 60's.
    What an incredible career.

back then, the bikes were developed so much each year, you HAD to get on the new bike each year or you would get left behind. these days, they are just making the number plates smaller and harder to read each year, and adding a few gimmicks like wave rotors to keep people interested. its a tribute to japans declining economy. they cant afford to develop the bikes like they used to.

True but lets add to that. When us Motocross Humans get bigger Balls of Steel & start jumpin' quadruples, explodin' berms on impact, poppin' wheelies out to 5th gear while wishing for a 6th gear overdrive, and naturally bring 2-Strokes back (2 fight the soon-2-be capable eMo-Bikes), then Motorcross Bikes will develop, like crazy, to keep up (with our Rider Talent). Just like they used to. My God, I was at Indian Dunes in '73 when I first saw Motocross Rear Koni Shocks "laid down" at an heretofore unimaginable 45 degree angle! Right then I knew History was Made going forward!

Wow! I really enjoy watching this DeCoster/Honda Video almost as much as the 1973 Steve McQueen Honda Video - ruclips.net/video/CXyVp7iw10Q/видео.html - Those Dudes are both Legends! And my 1974 Honda CR250 Elsinore was right there with them, Baby!

@avzeolla the main reason they were cheaper was because of the exchange rate with the japanese yen. back then it was about 300 yen to the US dollar. today, its 81 yen to the dollar.

Haha! Heard you only needed 2 of those CR480 Gears to still blow winning Motocross mud/dirt across your moto adversary's face goggles!
