I purchased this salt this past Black Friday sale this past year from BRS. I was surprised to see the water clear up in about 5 -10 min and the water was ready for use. I let it mix for 2 hours just to be safe,My readings were kinda off calcium was at 500 mag was at 1480 and DKH was kinda low at 8.4. I used the Red Sea foundation test kit. Great video 👍
Thats also great for freshwater aquariums to help breeding go along faster. Its very know in the freshwater hobby from veteran fish breederd. Its slso great stuff to use for trace elements in the freshwater aquarium that helps coloration
Good stuff bro. I like to mix 30 gallons at a time and make sure it is set at 78 degrees for a few days. It is important that the salt can disolve as well as create the important chem.reaction that is created over a few days. time, temp is important when mixing salt in my opinion. Love your channel.
eric olsen Thank you Eric and I am happy you enjoy it. HW is ready to use in an hour as long as it is within a acceptable temp range. Some salt like Red Sea Pro can precipitate out if mixed too long and turn cloudy. Great comment😀👍
I started using this salt based on the recommendation of BRS. I've been using this for 1 year on my 33 gal mixed reef. I only with they made a smaller box for us with smaller tanks. I also dose kalk
This is the salt I use and really like it! It is well worth the price in my opinion, but the key to buying this salt, is checking BRS for whenever it is on sale. Not often, but when it is even if you are not ready for more, buy it!
I use it also, I use alittle more than a half a cup to get 1.026, nice and fine particles, but once it came like a solid block, but great customer service at BRS!!
Hi Scott, Nice review. I switched from Kent Marine to HW and really like the results so far. It mixes well in my 100g water tank and is ready with a couple hours. This company has been around since 1962 & is more expensive than others but I feel the quality surpasses most. I'm going to stay with HW
This was a great product review and I was surprised to see how quick the water cleared after you added the salt .. and it's good to know you can add this to the tank so quick that will definitely make things a lot easier ... I can't wait to move house and get my own RODI system and make my own water 🤗🤗
CJ'S AQUARIUMS CJ cant wait till that tank is up and running. Im following along. You are better of running the cheaper salts and adjusting with dosing. Like you I went from a smaller tank to a bigger one and water changes just wont do for Alk, Ca, and Mg
Anyone who comes to the Reef and Reptile show can pick up a box from Coralust or we can ship you one a special trial price. pm for price with delivery.
Nice vid bro. I ran that salt for a year got it on sale at BRS during Black Friday. Parameters are real good but Like Reef Crystals it leaves a layer of brown stuff. Not so bad if u mix 5 gal a a time and clean the bucket but if you mix in a brute container and always have some on standby your container will be caked
I'll catch the video tomorrow, but I wanted to ask tonight! Hahah do you see a residue in your mixing bucket with this salt? I was using reef crystals and switched to Red Sea coral pro a few months ago because of the residue. Coral pro mixes very very fast and leaves a clean bucket behind. Thanks!
pelphrey My experience is that it left a worse residue than Reef Crystals but parameters were more consistent and closer to what I run my reef at. To expensive and leaves a nasty residue.
Is it that "non hydrolic" salt? Sorry, if that not the right term. I have heard some salt mixes start going bad after the bag is open to air, but others are find after opening to bag, which would be better for smaller tanks, because you use less at a time.
+John Zimm no this is not a non hydraulic salt from what I have read yet a strictly laboratory grade salt combining all the elements needed for healthy coral growth. Check out Bulk Reef Supply for their video.
Man aquaforest just hit Australia like a storm and is cheaper than red sea coral pro salt, i am hesitant to change because of the results my tank is showing with RSCP, what are your thoughts?

Deon 0026 great to hear Deon abs I did not know it was used in the freshwater side.
I've been using HW for about a year. It's been very good to me.
+coralinealgae I am glad to hear that coraline. I am learning just how good it is and I will be using it from now on.

Lisa DiMercurio this salt was one of the best I used to date. I do agree they should make it in different sizes. Happy New Year.

I have a video on this salt as well, check it out when you can.
Wesley Forbes II thanks for the advise Wesley abs I definitely will check out your video.

+NW Marine62 thanks buddy and I absolutely love this salt and so does my corals. I do agree with you and I will be using this one from now on. 😀

michoel goldin yes unfortunately my mine was going crazy. Sorry a new one is on the way.
Great rundown on this salt Scott! I'll keep an eye on it on brs
FeedThatReefAddiction thank you buddy, it is worth it.

PsychedelicBabe it certainly helps a lot PB when you can add the salt water so quick. I do love the salt and I will be using it from now on.
im 80% sure im gonna use this salt on my new tank... Ive been reading alot about it.... thanks for the review
CJ'S AQUARIUMS thanks CJ and I don't think you will be disappointed.

Coralust Reef Solutions great news Danny
great video. I am switching from tm pro to hw marinemix reefer, mainly bc of price. id like to save a few bucks for live stock.

Great video. Been interested in that salt.
+Micah Whalen you won't be disappointed
Yes!!! You beat me too it Scott, great video. I have been loving this salt since we decided to make the change.
Coralust Reef Solutions thanks Danny and I am definitely sticking with this salt mix.

pelphrey when mixing RC, mix while slowly pouring salt....won't have the residue problem
pelphrey also, the water will stay clear
pelphrey I have seen no residue from it but then again it is ready in an hour so it really does not give residue a chance to form.
pelphrey My experience is that it left a worse residue than Reef Crystals but parameters were more consistent and closer to what I run my reef at. To expensive and leaves a nasty residue.

how does it compareit to red sea coral pro salt mix
Joe Taylor I would honestly say I did like this salt a little better than Red Sea. It's levels are a lot less extreme and it did well for me.
Hey Scott I'm new to your channel? Great videos by the way;-) so is 1/2 cup per gallon about right to get a 1.026 salinity? Thanks
Larry Smith first of welcome to the channel and family. Yes, half a cup per gallon will give you the correct salinity. 👍😀
Interesting video Scott! I'm interested in seeing how your tank looks after using this salt for several months.
+Reefgrrl that will be the real test grrl. How this salt mix does over time.
I'm so lucky I don't have to choose any salt! I got my water from natural sea water 🤣
saintpinoy1984 this is true buddy.
Man aquaforest just hit Australia like a storm and is cheaper than red sea coral pro salt, i am hesitant to change because of the results my tank is showing with RSCP, what are your thoughts?
dudepros I have never used it but if you're happy with it then stay with it.
nice review bro. do u plan on using their additives too ?
Pedro loaiza at this time no because I am happy with the BRS Kalk and I use Acropower for amino acids.
