    Damn, I had no idea you could swap motherboards between different Dell Optiplex models! Did you have to make any modifications to fit the 7070 motherboard in the 3040 chassis, or does it just slot right in?
    I wish I’d have found your channel earlier. I love the PC I built, I spent a year collecting the parts for it and was finally able to build it in January. It’s the first one I’ve actually straight up built too. But building something like this would’ve been so cool! Always loved the look of the newer office PCs, provides for a nice sleeper aesthetic (that is, if it isn’t all kitted out with RGB lighting and a transparent side panel lmao)
    This is probably the most unique gaming PC I’ve seen in a long time. Prior to finding your channel, I’d never seen a liquid cooled Optiplex. OptiFlex is definitely the right name for it

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  2 года назад

      There are slightly different, the motherboards. It will drop in and fit, minus the rear I/O. I had to make a few cuts to the case to line the ports up properly.
      There are decent PCs with some REAL annoying quirks. But, if you get past them, they're a reliable PC.
      Glad you like how OptiFlex turned out! It's probably my favourite build that I've put together thus far

    Just finished watching the entire optiflex playlist and it was nice to see you pick up an old office pc which was about to be recycled and turned it into a gaming beast. I just got handed down the optiplex 3040 after looking at your videos I wanna do the same my pc even though I know that’s not gonna happen cause I don’t have good pc knowledge but I am learning a lot through your videos :)

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  3 года назад

      I appreciate you watching the entire OptiFlex playlist! I hope you enjoyed it all!
      There's potential in anything! You just have to take the time (and sometimes money) to bring that potential out. I'm a big fan of getting creative and making things customized to your liking. It's also never to late to learn! Everyone starts somewhere.
      Hope your Optiplex 3040 turns out the way you want it to. I'm also always around. So, if you have any questions on how to do something, just leave a comment and I'll do my best to help you out
      Thanks for watching!

    I don’t think power supply upgrade was necessary because I done the calculations on newegg power supply calculator and it recommends about 360w-400w and most of the part in your dell don’t even need that much power. There is a dell xps 8940 with rtx 3070 as the highest option and it uses 500w power supply

    I hope you will see this.... my question is probably the most trivial compared to the rest here. After removing the DVD drive, how did you "plug" the DVD Drive on the front if the plastic case?

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  Год назад

      Dell sells Optiplexs that do not include a DVD drive. For those models, they snap in a dummy plug to fill in the cutout for the missing drive. I simply found a front panel that had the blank piece and snapped it in. Alternatively, you can pry off the front panel on the DVD drive and fill the gap with that.

    Hello, I've been following you for a long time and I like what you do, I bought a Dell 3070 with i5 9500 processor, 16gb ddr4, etc, I modified the case for good cooling but unfortunately I have a problem with the cooling of the video card, Gtx 1050ti, the fans they are at 0 rpm, as is normal for this board, when it heats up, they start at 100 to 100 speed, even if the program shows 43-48 rpm, when the board reaches 27 degrees Celsius, they continue to run at maximum capacity, the problem is solved with a restart.

      Sounds like a VBIOS probably for your card. Looks like the fan curve is out of whack. Check to see if the card has an update for its VBIOS. If there is none, you can set a custom fan curve using MSI Afterburner

    Hey Wiltshire, I’m just revisiting your videos. I upgraded to a 7070 with an i9-9900 as well. I’m running into a hot box problem too. I’m looking into liquid cool now. Just wondering how did you hook up the asetek cooler. The 7070 motherboard only has two fan headers. Curious on how you did it.

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  2 года назад

      Use the CPU fan header for the fans and then just get either a SATA to fan adapter or a molex to fan adapter and run the pump at 100% speed.

    Noctua's Chromax fans aren't as good as the beige and brown ones - probably because they are made of a different type of plastic.

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  3 года назад +1

      According to Noctua's website, both are have the same specs and are made out of the same material. No 2 fans are built the same. Which is why there can be a ±20% performance variability between fans.

    Is anyone having a problem with overheating of the SSD in M .2 slot in the Dell Optiplex 3050 small form factor I have several Dell Optiplex 3050s SFF i5-7500. When I checked the SSD installed in the M.2 slot with crystaldiskinfo, they all have a temperature problem with the m.2 slot. No problem with the cabled SATA 2.5 inch SSD. So far five out of the five I have checked the SSD in the m.2 slot has a high temperature.

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  2 года назад

      I have a heatsink on the M.2 SSD. So, I haven't had any issues with the temperatures. I'd suggest maybe trying an active M.2 heatsink to try to cool things down a little.

    • @WiltshireTutorials
      @WiltshireTutorials  Год назад

      That's a decent machine to get for free! It'll do quite well with 1080p gaming and some light editing. With the stock power supply, the max GPU you can use is a GTX 1060 6GB or an RX 470. The PC will work pretty decent with those GPUs. If you want a little more power, then you're going to need to mod an SFX PSU into the PC, like I did in previous OptiFlex videos.
