He really does seem way more down to earth than the media portrayed him as.
He was, a lot of the stories about him are untrue or exaggerated, if you listen to him being interviewed he sounds like a very nice, intelligent guy
What I heard/read is that the media disliked him, cause he was very secretive about his projects. So they came up with some stories, how he's crazy and a mysoginist and all that
The media makes profit off of sensationalism. If they can't find it, they make it up, or exaggerate it. Kubrick said fuck you to the industry tabloid and for what it's worth he was brilliant about avoiding it. To an extent it helped him retain his privacy and in my opinion it kept his films spoiler- free.
I love that he just lets the cat nap on his unused desk at 5:12.
He edited Barry Lyndon at home in part because he wanted to spend more time with his cats, and there are photos of them curled up on the tables in his editing room.

It seems as though if he weren't a filmmaker he could have been a good physicist or a historian or something in the realm of academia and science. To be honest, with this obvious intellect he could've gotten away with anything, lol. Brilliant footage, thank you for taking the time to find and compile all of these wonderful clips. :)

Don't be sad. Be happy that these films are going to be known for generations. People are still reading Shakespeare, people are still listening to The Beatles, people are still looking at the artworks of Da Vinci, and people are still watching Kubrick.
