Carmen - The Dream and the Destiny (Music Documentary of 1973)

- "This 90 minute film combines three themes into a real and powerful whole: the destiny of Bizet, misunderstood with the best of his operas (plus the disastrous failure of the Premiere in Paris and his consequent death); the rehearsals of Regina Resnik, one of the most outstanding Carmen’s of our time at the Hamburg State Opera with Tourangeau and Domingo; and finally the performance itself.
From these three levels, Nupen has produced one complete work which is simultaneously documentary, rehearsal-reportage and opera broadcast and which develops into a passionate declaration of love for Bizet, his Carmen, and the life and work of the theatre. A new method of presenting opera in condensed form on television and a fascinating work." - Andrea Seebohm reports from Salzburg on the 10th Congress of the IMZ.

RIP Tom Krause. You were the best Escamillo!
awesome, thanks man
Excellent documentary covering these artists and this opera. Mil gracias por compartir. No thanks to YTs terrible search engine, after months and months of daily searches for all things Domingo, I've only now found this in my hit list. Gah!

Very kind of you, mil gracias.
Thank you so much for this true story of a Genius Bizet....
Lucy Ivanovich I believe he created one of the best operas in the world
Thciakovsky was right about this wonderful opera
Love the documentary!! Pity that low B2 is obscured by the narrator though... 31:45
Huguette se ve tan sexy... 😍
Una lástima que ya nos haya dejado, aparte de ser una gran Mezzosoprano (cantando partes incluso de Soprano) era una gran actriz.
Huguette Tourangeau will be greatly missed
Tourangeau is quite alluring.
She was an amazing singing actress just like Callas
Plácido was literally a heavy tenor at that time.
"Heavy tenor"? He was a lirico tenor who, inspired by Giuseppe Di Stefano, drove his voice into an early grave due to singing inappropriate repertoire that was far too big and heavy for his rather demeuere, lyrical voice.
@@tonshaad1230 I was referring to his weight, physical weight, not his voice.
