Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore absolutely loved Johann Sebastian Bach
Oh yes 🙌🎹
Y a Mozart, y a Beethoven, y a Listo, y a Chopin, y a Tchaikovsky ...☝️😎🇦🇷
It was mutual.
Completely owns it! ❤️
Thanks brother 😊
Excellent rendition of a great rock classic. I heard it live in Glasgow Apollo in 1974 when it came out... brilliant... and again - well played Nicolas.
Wow!! Thank you 🙏🎹
@@NicolasMelis Every single note is perfect, man... just the way I still hear it when I listen regularly to that album.
Would love to hear you do a Tony Banks Genesis piece from Selling England By The Pound... another great keyboard player who goes under the radar too often.
My favourites were Rick Wakeman (YES was just the right band for him), Keith Emerson (loved his Mussorgsky classical pieces) and Ken Hensley of Uriah Heep who just fitted a great rocking band of the time and was my first concert in 1973.
@@bobinscotland thank you appreciated!i did some Tony banks in my famous piano intros videos! Check them out :)
burn baby burn RIP Jon Lord beloved
Legend 🎹❤️
Just perfect - the song, the solo and your interpretation. Makes my day.
Thank you!! Glad you like it 🎹
Why would anyone give this stellar performance a thumbs down?
Upside-down pc monitor. No other explications.
@@tizianozappavigna3885 ?
@@valentinesta4621 no reason at all to give a thumb down to this video. Maybe the user have the monitor upside-down on his desk and set the thumb on...
Absolutely luv this solo and ur performance is amazing
Thank you so much mu friend!!
Jon lord was insane man!!! Great tribute dude!!! 👏👏👏👏
thanks man glad you like it 😊
Absolutely outstanding mate 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤘🏻
Thanks man 🎹🖤
I really liked the organ !
Este solo é uma obra de arte. Jon Lord tem outro desse naipe em Rat Bat Blue.
Muito bem executado. Parabéns.
thank you very much!! love the Rat Bat Blue solo, maybe I will try to upload it as well :)
Eu era garoto quando via meu pai que era organista e grande sanfoneiro tocando essa musica
🙌🎹
❤❤❤
🙌🎹
Thanks my mom loved the organ 😊
🙌🎹
素晴らしい!!!!👍
Thank you 🙏
Amazing! Really impressive with the separation of the hammond and the moog! Never performed live like this so probably made with overdubs in the studio, very impressive indeed!
Glad you like it ! Thanks 🎹🎹
Damn! If I could play keys like that I wouldnt need a sequencer 🔥😭
thanks :)
I love the arpeggio fill in the bit where John is smashing his Hammond 32 secs 🤣. Don't smash your Nord. I will have to try this on my E5D.
😁 thanks! Hammer-weighted keys are not the best for hammond playing 😁
@@NicolasMelis Waterfall ok?
@@andyracksthecams waterfall keys are better for hammond playing yes :)
@@NicolasMelis I gotta try that then. I realised the inverted 5th thing yesterday and I am hooked. I play guitar normally.. 😳
@@andyracksthecams try and let me know what do you think :)
Deep Purple "perfection"!!!
Thank you 😊

Wow!
fantastic quel super claviériste
Thank you 🙏 appreciated 🎹
Very nice! Crisp & con brio! That takes some practice to get those 2 independent lines coordinated like that. I love to see people play Jon Lord's music.
Thank you Michael! 😊
Great, totally nailed it! Would like to see you do Highway Star too
Thanks! I will:)
Sweet...
🙏🎹
Brilliant!
Thank you 😊
played brilliantly
Thank you! Much appreciated 🎹
@@NicolasMelis tbh i have always thought that these two lines were recorded separately on the studio version!!
@@PiotrstrashcanŚmietnikPiotra i am not sure to be honest, but it was fan playing them together :)

Nice cover! That’s the same group that sings, “Smoke on the Water!”
Thank you!!!😊
@@NicolasMelis You’re welcome!

やっぱりシンプルなサウンドが良いね😍👍
凄い弾き手だと思うし俺の結成したBAND Scratch Angels DevilSに是非加入して欲しい逸材です💝
Great! I think Jon Lord never played this layered synth part live
Thank you! Really? Didn’t know that
interesting 🌷 🤣 Thank you... keep going
Eccellente!
Thank you 😊
Klasse gespielt, guter Sound!
Thank you!!
Ich habe auch das Nord Stage 3 (compact) und wir spielen gerade auch einiges von Deep Purple. Black Night, Strange Kind Of Woman, Smoke on the Water, Demon's Eye. Jon Lord war schon ein Gott....

Excelente !!! Te felicito muy bueno !
Thank you 😊

Great!!🔥🎹
Thank you 🎹🖤
👍🏻
If Lord used Moog instead of Hammond Deep Purple would have been perfection....
As well as his Hammond B3, Jon Lord used the ARP ODYSSEY synth on BURN. Don Airey used Moog and Kurzweil on later Purple recordings after Jon had left.
I remember the problems of tuning those twin oscillators on an old Odyssey as they went out of tune after a minute or so playing, meaning I had to record in short batches, then stop to retune. The joys of the old days when you cut tapes and spliced them together again...
I fucked that up and I wasn't even playing it. As soon as you bought the left hand in.
😁
Brilliant performance !!!! 👌🙂
I try to copy the solo but (aside the technical difficulties 😉) I'm quite bad in finding the Moog-Sound on my Behringer Poly D. Tried a lot to work it out, but until now without real success 😕
Could you help me with the settings?
Thank you!! Its an old video so i don’t really remember the exact settings of my moog ! I will try to find out and get back to you!
:-0 łał super
Thank you 🙏😊
That tone is perfect! I have a Nord Stage Three - what settings did you use to get that sound?
Thank you! I ve just use the first 4 drawbars with a bit of drive :)
Thanks man! BTW, great job playing too!@@NicolasMelis
@@slickrockcreek1 thank you 🙏
Great job at this solo, Nicolas. The only thing I'm still trying to figure out is what actually happens to the sound in the right hand, once the left hand Moog comes in. It's obviously not the same overdrive Hammond any more, so can you describe how the sound of the part of the solo is created?
Thank you!! I didn’t change anything in the sound as far as i remembered cause its an old video, just playing an octave higher, but you are right it doesn’t sound like the same overdrive as when i was playing in the middle range ..
its really hard to emulate that thunder sound
Excellent ! I have a Nord Stage 3 as well. Looked like you just using the on board chorus for effects ?
Thanks Dave! Yes i use the on board effects :)
That was absolutely perfect man!!
Could you send me a picture of the moog settings?
Im trying to recreate the synth sound but i dont know which osc it is and which effects and filters it uses, could you help me with that??
Would be awesome man!!!
Hey Paul thanks for your kind words! Actually i ve just used a lp preset and played with the filter , i think the number is 52 or 53 not sure
Nice playing Nicolas. Is that a Fender Rhodes I see in the back ground?
yes its a fender rhodes mk1
@@NicolasMelis Ah a Fender Rhodes that part of my touring rig years ago that and a Minimoog on top. Happy days. Really enjoying your playing by the way.
Wow nice! really want to buy a minimoog reissue, but its very expensive ...trying to sell on of my 2 fender rhodes to sponsor the minimoog
@@NicolasMelis I hope you do get one. To my shame I sold my Minimoog 1978 two years ago. Desperate times my friend call for desperate measures. Just how it is. It is an amazing instrument and I do truly hope you get to own one.
It is! I ve played it in a friends studio and i fell in love with it... someday...
Превосходно, привет из России
Thank you!! Greetings from Cyprus 🇨🇾 😊
Nice, but where's the white face ARP???
I really wish i had one but i dont :)
hi I’m in the midst of joining a deep purple cover band and I wanna learn this solo how can I? I’m a keyboardist. Your interpretation was amazing!
Hi, just listen to the original in slow tempo and try to play it with it, or find a transcription in google and practice :)
@@NicolasMelis ok thank you! Do you recommend any transcriptions cuz all the ones I’m finding are like 80% accurate and don’t sound totally right.
@@cano228 better have the transcription for reference and try to transcribe it by your self, couldn’t find one as well

No idea.. i did it by ear
@@NicolasMelis Haha I envy your skills
@@bucketfullabiscuits7865 😁try on google i am sure you will find something
What drawbars settings are you using?😁
First 4 and some drive
Can i have the sheets?
Dont have any music sheet man sorry
Россия слушает!🇷🇺👍
Thank you 🙏😊
Do you use weighted keyboard?
Yes! The nord is with weighted keys
@@NicolasMelis Is it hard to play like on orginal hammonds? By that i mostly mean If is it posibble to do many glissandos like john lord did. I've heard that it can hurt and even hurt ur fingers. But I wondered if is it possible to develop enough resistance to these blisters.
I think is harder yes, but i play piano so feels more natural to me to play on weighted keys
@@NicolasMelis Thats for your response can u tell me please if you can bring out more distorted sounds out of the nord? Is it already in library or maybe I can use analog distortion?
@@Masterufoss it has an onboard drive you can try that, if its not your cup of tea you can try some pedals as well
0:37 BACH????????
Could be :)
Very likely soaked up from years of listening to Bach as he was one of the great influences on Jon Lord.
Great playing man.
What's that "alien" sound called that you play on the moog at 0:38?
❤❤❤
