Max is not dead. It's that her mind is with Vecna. If Eleven and friends manages to save her mind from Vecna and she physically got well, she will survive that situation.
She’s brain dead. The only thing she can do is have her heart beat and breath with a life support machine. She can’t think for herself etc. Chances of her waking up are low in my opinion, so I count it as a death. I love Max too tho and really hope she wakes up
