You were close to Carlsbad Caverns too. Thank you. Very peaceful to watch, Catherine. Our family moved from Roanoke, VA to Sitka, AK in Feb 93 and we've been in the PNW since. Happy trails.
The number of places you're visiting that I have been to is a good laugh. Nevermind, the timing is decades "off" - this particular place looks just like it did in 2001. Lived in Alamogordo from '09 til '19 and loved White Sands. Near family now, 1300 miles away, but miss those stunning views. Thank you so much for this beautiful video. I volunteered at the park for a couple of years and often told visitors it was my favorite place on earth, and that was saying a lot since I've been to many of the major national parks. Nothing compares to the spirituality you feel when you walk those gorgeous, super quiet dunes. Even more amazing is the string of natural processes that needs to happen at just the right time and in just the right sequence to produce the dunes. 275 square miles of gypsum sand, and you can walk on it barefoot when it's 100 F outside, and you will not burn your feet. The next largest gypsum dune field is near Carlsbad, NM, and it covers 4 square miles, so the White Sands dunes are truly special. Thanks again, Catherine, for making me homesick with this great production.

Catherine, thank you for posting this video! I was stationed at Holloman AFB from early 1981 to late 1985, and lived in Alamogordo. You brought back to memory so many treasured memories when our family would visit the white sands park and enjoyed sliding down the dunes on cardboard boxes. Also getting to see the mountains in the background again was quite delightful. It would take weeks to get all the sand out of the van that had stuck to our clothes. Thank you!
Lived in that general vicinity for the first 18 years of life. So many wonderful memories of the area. As a kid, we enjoyed many a picnic at White Sands. Your photography and video is exceptional. Thank you for sharing your journey.

Regarding wearing gaiters to keep sand out of your shoes: I found going barefoot in the soft talc sand dunes felt really good. I hiked around quite a ways in White Sands and had no issues.
What I like about your videos is they are intriguingly thoughtful. You picked the day to visit because it would be “partly cloudy which adds interest.” Your videos express an eye for beauty that reflects what you see, even your longing to see. Thanks for sharing. I hope you are going on to Guadalupe and Big Bend. I worked near Big Bend in the 1980s and made many trips there in the cooler months. Backpacking to the South Rim of the Chisos followed up by a soak in the hot springs near Boquillas is not to be missed. McKittrick Canyon in Guadalupe makes for a magnificent day hike.
My parents also took us on vacations all over the country, starting in 1963. We kept track of the states we visited, and by the time we were done, we somehow missed only Nebraska out of the continental 48. The mutually shared adventures brought us closer together, and my brother and sister and I still fondly reminisce about them. They certainly implanted the love of the road trip in us. We took a cruise to Alaska to celebrate mom and dad's 50th anniversary. I finally picked up Nebraska when I was well into my fifties. Never have been to Hawaii, but I don't really care. I just want to drive around the west (mostly) from time to time and car camp. There's so much beauty. I love the peace and relative solitude. Thanks for another great Sunday morning video, Catherine.
This is one of my favorite places. I remember The silence and views. I didn’t want to leave. Btw NM has a ton of places to hike and backpack. Its a wonderful state. Good thing this video came with a bombshell warning 😄. Seriously, I happened to have visited the area in 2019, and was blown away by how your music and vision captured the otherworldly essence of this beautiful landscape. In fact in a shadow at minute 7:01 you appear to have captured its heart. Truly da bomb. Happy trails.

Catherine, I was stationed at Holloman AFB more than 45 yrs. ago and spent may days with friends at white sands. Over that much time I am amazed at how little it has changed. My buddies and I used to dirt bike on the missile range when there were no tests going on and you would be amazed at all the history laying out there. Unfortunately, the public does not have access but you can see how far the sand dunes extend to the north from your vantage point. Thanks for the views and keep 'em coming.....:-)
Hi! Cat, Loved your video of White Sands. What a beautiful place to visit. Great tip on wearing gators to keep sand out of your shoes. That place would make a awesome backdrop for portrait shots. Just think of all the types of fashions a woman could wear with the beautiful White Sands as the background. Great video! You look beautiful and good to see your doing well. Thank you God for Cat and your creation of White Sands National Park. Happy Trails!
Wow, I have immediately subscribed. Beautiful opening, absolutely perfect music. You, Ma’am, have a gift. Love, love, love the focus on the transcendence. And no numbing commercials, wow. Thank you from all of us to a truly gifted persons.
Did not disappoint. I visited there when I was a teen. I remember the dune climbing being a workout. You slide down a bit with each step, so upward progress is slower and with more resistance. And the sand gets on you everywhere, and I mean everywhere. But, it is a unique experience and beautiful.
Beautiful as always Catherine! We made our first (and only) trip to New Mexico from northern Utah in October of 2019. After sleeping overnight in Farmington we drove to in the Taos in the morning. Then the famous "High Road" between Taos and Sante Fe. I don't know how you will come back but worth seeing but give yourself a day on that road...so much to see. Love you adventures!
Hello Cat, what a unique and beautiful national park. Your perspectives really bring it to life. The colors were absolutely stunning! And the video of breakfast being prepared made us feel as though we were there. We hope you have a wonderful week, travel safe, and God bless.
As beautiful as it was in the winter, experiencing the park in warmer weather is definitely better. You can take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes (although that really wears out your feet and leg muscles). But no matter how hot and sunny the day is, your feet will not burn in the sand like on a beach. Because the sand is pure white, it reflects the sunlight and stays cool. But being southern New Mexico, the sun can be relentless on the rest of your body, so somewhere between the summer and winter seasons is the best time to totally enjoy the park.
Thank you for such a beautiful video! White Sands is one of the most gorgeous places in the world and has a special spot in our hearts. The scenery and snow-like sand is pure magic! Hope you explore more of New Mexico, as there are several unique and beautiful places there. Truly is the land of enchantment! Can't wait to visit there again😊. And, one last thing: the clouds kiss the landscape there, giving it an otherworldly feel at times. Sky views there are awesome!
Hi, I find your 4k videos absolutely breath taking. I veiw your work on my projector screen and it does justice on your effort to see the spectacular wide screen shots on the white sand landscape. Thank you for sharing your work.
I visited White Sands in July 2009 the place was pretty much deserted. Couple of markers on the Alkali Flats trail were down, so it took us a while to find the trail again, then we got caught in a Sand Storm & Thunderstorm all at once, sand never hurt so bad, the Park Rangers came looking for us. It was a neat experience and the cloud formations were somethin else.

This covid shutt-in has to thank you for a beautiful 11 and a half minutes of escape. Just by next summer it's safe to travel I hope to get there on two wheels.
Really great job Catherine and I agree that clouds always create more interest and depth in the shots. What a stunning place.. definitely on my bucket list now. Thanks for another spectacular video. Cheers
I lived in the Arctic for years and always assumed the White Sands would look somewhat similar, but your videos footage says no, it’s a totally different environment! Thanks for posting! I now need to head down there and check out those dunes!
I lived near here (outside of Alamogordo) for 18 years and the farthest my family ever took us was to the picnic area near the entrance. 😳🙃 I’ve never returned to New Mexico since I left home… never knew any of this existed within the White Sands!!! After I watched what you filmed here, it really opened up my eyes to what I will miss if I don’t open my eyes, explore, and just simply get out there!!!! When I was younger I went to San Francisco, (I dressed like a tourist...lol... San Francisco T-shirt or sweatshirt… Camera strapped around my neck… LOL) and I ventured everywhere on my days off!!! I had an opportunity to see some of the most stunning hotels, restaurants, neighborhoods! Now my heart leans towards the outdoors. If you come back through the Phoenix area… Make a stop at “Piestewa Peak” (a mountain preserve in the heart of Phoenix) ...it’s beautiful!!! This video sealed the deal on my focus to seek greater adventure! Thank you! A simple heartfelt thank you!!!🥰👏👏👏👏
Catherine, So glad you made it to White Sands and hope you can visit again during warm weather. Some of your stills were A+ stunners. Maybe Big Bend N.P. on the horizon? SUGGESTION: Your music selections are superb. Please consider posting music info along with your closing remarks. I'm sure that others would appreciate as well.
Great contrasts of light and dark in the photos and yes the partly cloudy skies did help add to the interest of the shots so good call to shoot on the partly cloudy day! When I saw you walking without the gators was wondering how much sand was getting into the shoes. You gave us the answer LOL!
Stunning shots! I was there last weekend and the weather must have been warmer then. I walked the Alkali Flats barefoot and loved the feeling of the cool sand between my toes, especially on the long, deep steps you take when walking down a dune.
You did a wonderful job of capturing the park...clouds definitely added to the contrast. I have been there many times. Evenings with a pink blue sky are frosting on the cake.
Thank you for this beautiful video of one of my favorite places on earth. I have visited White Sands many times and even camped there in 2008 in the camping area; even in mid April it was cold and still at night, but so beautiful. The springtime brings the unique “mare’s tail” clouds which I have not seen anywhere else. Let me encourage and compliment you; there are so many other magical places in New Mexico so I hope to see additional videos.
Another excellent vid....I too had to do White Sands as a "Bucket List" destination and I also picked a Stormy type day with mostly storms whipping around the park in almost every direction but did not get rained on...The clouds again in the desert made for a vibrant, colorful landscape. I also felt like I had the park to myself as I went on a week-day about 4 hours before the park closed. I saw very few in the park and it made the visit perfect. Keep living the good life Cat . Cheers.
Thank you for another beautiful video. I've been through New Mexico, but have never checked out White Sands. Glad to know it's now designated a national park! I'll have to put it on my list, it's lovely, especially at sunset!

Three in a row! Every stop so far has been one of my favorite places in the Southwest. If you make it over to Big Bend in Tx I'm going to be really jealous!

Pretty stunning landscape. Thanks for sharing that amazing landscape.
Beautiful scenery. Great job! Thanks for letting me tag along!
Really great job Catherine and I agree that clouds always create more interest and depth in the shots. What a stunning place.. definitely on my bucket list now. Thanks for another spectacular video. Cheers
Thank you so much Mike!
Yours is the most beautiful footage of White Sands I have ever seen.
Thank you so much Barbara!
I’ve never returned to New Mexico since I left home… never knew any of this existed within the White Sands!!!
Thank you! A simple heartfelt thank you!!!🥰👏👏👏👏
That is so awesome!! 👏🏻❤️😀
Stunning as always Cathrine ! Thank you 😊
Another lovely inspiring video. Great music. Thanks Catherine👍💕
Thank you Brooke!
Wow. Nice. Drove heavy haul trucking for 34 years and went to White Sands and alamogordo and Lourdesberg NM. I now live in Virginia. Lol. Small world.
Thank you! Yes, I need to remember to add the music info.
New Mexico is BEAUTIFUL. You have to check out the Gila Wilderness, more specifically the Gila Cliff Dwellings!
I have a backpacking trip planned in the Gila this Spring. :)
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures You will LOVE it! Happy trails!
Great contrasts of light and dark in the photos and yes the partly cloudy skies did help add to the interest of the shots so good call to shoot on the partly cloudy day! When I saw you walking without the gators was wondering how much sand was getting into the shoes. You gave us the answer LOL!
😂😂😂 Thank you!
Thank you!
One of the most incredible places on earth!
Lovely, just lovely.....stay safe, looking forward to the next.
🌈🎻🎶🤩
Hi Catherine. I've watch your videos for awhile. I love the peaceful beautiful format for them. Thank you!
Thank you!
Another restful Sunday watching your amazing videos. Thanks
Omg!! I live in New Mexico ❤️ it’s such a beautiful state.
Love that relaxing piano music in the beginning ❤️
Another excellent vid....I too had to do White Sands as a "Bucket List" destination and I also picked a Stormy type day with mostly storms whipping around the park in almost every direction but did not get rained on...The clouds again in the desert made for a vibrant, colorful landscape. I also felt like I had the park to myself as I went on a week-day about 4 hours before the park closed. I saw very few in the park and it made the visit perfect. Keep living the good life Cat . Cheers.
I always have wanted to visit white sands. Thank you for taking me there!
Just WOW!!! Your photography is amazing!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for another beautiful video. I've been through New Mexico, but have never checked out White Sands. Glad to know it's now designated a national park! I'll have to put it on my list, it's lovely, especially at sunset!
