post pandemic. that reality hit me. well it didnt hit me that hard because i almost never base my performance on time but rather on sheer effort and how much i prepared. i base my performance against my competitors too.. so im not so hurt with that. now, my goal is just to compete with those that are in my bracket. every now and then, i get a glimpse of yesterday and get overall awards. but that comes very rarely.. when it does, i celebrate it and i never get the "delusion of grandeur" that itll last or extend to the next race. peak performances still come. but not as often as i want it to be. but thats okay.

Sometimes focusing too much on the competition, performance and specially the equipment takes the joy out of the sport. It makes the event more stressful, unsustainable and sets you up for disappointment if you dont hit the goal. I have learned to enjoy the sport for what it is. No nonsense, just me on my stroke, my ride, my stride. I am enjoying it a lot more to be honest.
Yup! That's where I am today. I try to do well if I join an event, but in the end, the goal is to enjoy it for what it is
