Only queen Morissette able bodied multiple voice range can make an audience jaw-dropped with extreme awe. She has the ability to radiate even the depth of the lowest alto E flat range and has the incredible voice to modulate into a mezzo-soprano and further go up to the high piercing soprano peak power output eventually reaching the 7th octave of her powerful and fantastic anatomical whistle tone resonance!
Lovely reaction as always. Everyone has an opinion so here is mine. I think this is a better performance than the newer version. I think Morissette kills the newer version but it seems like a song for a much older performer. She just turned 25 and the Wish performance is more youthful whereas the newer version seems like it would be for an artist in her 40's. Just my thoughts. Morissette is still one of the finest vocalists in the world right now. She needs a major US/UK label to back her!!!
This version is easy to vibe in, i mean the arrangement is not that hard and is easy to sing along...or hum along hehe😅

I prefer this version, but I loved the 25th anniversary edition one a lot more than I thought I would. We just need the pandemic to wane enough that she can sing it with a choir backing her. EDIT: Oops, this was supposed to go in the comments of the pinned post!

There's a slight fatigue on mori's vocals due to a hectic singing engagements...but still pulled out a great performance.
Yes, true! Some more background for Nina: At the time of this performance, Mori was doing promotions for the Aladdin movie that had just come out, since she and Darren Espanto had been chosen by Disney to sing the Filipino version of A Whole New World. So in addition to her usual schedule, she was doing a lot of extra singing and speaking engagements and wasn't getting enough vocal rest. I know that's not ideal, but I love the slight rasp it gives her voice here. Also, on the day of this performance there was an earthquake in the Philippines and they were late getting to the Wish Bus due to the traffic jam from the earthquake. You can actually see her say "We did it!" at the end of this video in relief that they made it.

I dont know but, shine js one of the hardest song that i love singing.. I mean its not about the range its Bot the control.. the first verse of the song and the first chorus have so much control, "well i saw a lot of covers on it on yt but the mic was kinda edit like, they add some reverb etc to make it sound good".. but no ones gonna stop me so imma continue singing the song 🤣

Coach Schofield, I always enjoy your professional, insightful comments on performances. I'm especially glad that you also think highly of the capabilities and delivery techniques of Asia's Phoenix. The song was originally performed by Ima Castro but popularized by the great Regine Velasquez in the mid 1980's. I like this performance for its live qualities, and also appreciate her 25th Anniversary version. Song composer Trina Belamide requested Mori to do that arrangement, which has a more Gospel feel to it. Thank you for reacting to and supporting Morissette and other talented Filipino artists.

First of all you looked stunning in this video Nina as always. I like this version so much but, the new version is just as good or perhaps better because of the video production. Either way, I like everything about her. Morissette is just simply best!!!
This is Regine's version....that she actually recorded for a beauty product commercial. A few of the original lyrics were dropped, but in the 25th Anniversary version that the composer Trina Belamide arranged for Morissette had them put back in. She is with her musical director (bass) and his band 3rd Ave. in this performance.
