The centre of Stockholm is so beautiful. Somewhat underrated as a destination for visitors which is no bad thing considering so many cities in Southern Europe are no longer worth going to due to overwhelming mass tourism and all the tack that goes with it.

Whew! That hour long brisk walk nearly wore me out! - But seriously, what I find remarkable about this walking tour of downtown Stockholm is how clean the city is. And despite all the downtown vehicular traffic, not once over the course of the hour was there a single automobile horn heard. … I’m sure Stockholm is not a city without its challenges, but only once was there a siren heard. I saw only one of what I think was a uniformed police officer on foot. I saw no homeless in the street nor any people asking for handouts. Only three instances of what could be described as minor graffiti seen. A stark difference from what I am accustomed to seeing in the major cities here in the U.S., particularly with our capital, Washington DC.

Well, he starts of close to the most destroyed parts of Stockholm (named the Klara quarters). These parts were demolished to about 80% by the modernist socialists between 1952 and 1974 (although planned during the 1930-40s). Luckily, bad economy, the oil crisis of 1973-74, folk demonstrations, new ideals that questioned modernism and brutalism as well as other factors put this to a halt in "the last minute". Otherwise most of today's beautiful Stockholm would have looked as sad and boring as these parts.

Currently no travel is possible. I've been to Oslo before and when tourism starts again I'd love to see more of Norway like Bergen and Skavanger. We'll see when that is possible - probably not this year.
Also, these videos were recorded on trips where I capture often 20 or more walks in a few weeks of traveling. Sometimes 2 per day were possible in bigger cities. I post them over a longer period here on the channel. For now I have enough videos until next year though I surely hope travel will be possible sometime later this year. Norway travels will hopefully happen during some future summer

Lord Damianus Stockholm is a very large, spread out city with many different parts, architectural styles. Half of the video is from a tiny city area called “Klara”, the rest is from the authentic medieval old town. Most of the city is very old - many hundreds or a hundred years old - so not sure what you mean with “modernist” as you only see a few streets and blocks from “Klara” in the video. They do not represent the whole city.
I think you for instance didn’t recognise the famous City Hall and many other beautiful famous architectural landmarks of the city in the video.
“Klara” was an outdated poor area that had to be demolished in the 1950-middle 1970s because the area was basically slum and insanitary. The shape of the buildings were terrible and the living conditions were not acceptable. People didn’t have indoor running water, toilets were shared etc.
Sweden’s economic wealth took off after 1945 and an important part of that was the needed improvement of infrastructure and building of affordable modern housing for the growing population. Sweden is a pragmatically country and also many houses and buildings are protected cultural heritage, building new ones requires clearance.

Lots of parks in Stockholm, big and small, but not everywhere. It's mainly planned as a 1600s city. This means that it is quite urban, with a grid of straight streets and 90 degree corners being the main ideal.
