Does an artist, whose work you desire, deserve at least min. wage? As a creator/artist in USA, this a question I often ponder. I'm curious what people have to say about this. Cheers! Btw, because I am capable of making this doll and I understand the time and effort taken to make this doll, I'd pay $35 happily. It is an "art doll", to me as a collector, because I've never seen a doll put together in this fashion. Its simplicity, elegance, the cleverness and care of the artist, all make this little beauty well with $100. Even best with a few accessories thrown in. Factory made dolls (Barbie, Monster/Rainbow High, etc.) at Walmart go from $20 -$37 each, depending on the doll. They have plastic accessories and the coverings are made of cheap synthetic material. Just to compare art from mass production..

I love the fact that she doesn't try to hide the stitches by using a thread that's similar in colour to the fabric...instead they stand out and become part of the look, the style of the doll. The result shows the process.

You're an artist --- You can 'see' in a few bits of cloth, a doll. With your hands you create what had been only in your minds eye. I really admire that --- The doll is perfect in it's simplicity. My husband worked with wood --- When he was making a small chest out of scraps or wood, he said he's let the wood tell him what to make --- Your creative talent is much the same --- You listen to the what you have to work with and create something wonderful!
I remember making dolls from the scraps & rags that my mom saved for my baby sister who was bedridden for a good part of her life. She wasn't allowed playthings unless they were soft. I only found out a few months ago that she'd saved one of the last soft dolls I made her. I was amazed that she'd saved it!
