The paintings that Red Velvet recreated that we mentioned were: “Ophelia” by John Everett Millais “Woman with a Parasol - Madame Monet and Her Son” by Claude Monet “The Garden of Earthly Delights” by Hieronymus Bosch Upon rewatching we also think that the shot of Irene on the swing at the beginning is probably referencing “The Swing” by Jean-Honoré Fragonard And the classical piece sampled throughout the song is “Air on the G String” by Johann Sebastian Bach ;)
Seulgi on the ladder (Paul Dominique - Lady looking behind the wall) Wendy & Yeri looking at Joy (as reference to Ophelia) (Paul Dominique - Nymphs Finding the Head of Orpheus)
This Feel My Rhythm got a lot of hint: 1. Joy lying on water (Ophelia - John Everett Milley) 2. Irene swing ("The Swing" - Fragonard) 3. Irene with umbrella with Seulgi ("The Woman Holding the Umbrella" - Monet) 4. Yeri Hair Style with strawberry ("Four Seasons" - Mucha) 5. At the End of the MV is the fountain frome from the painting of Hieronymus Bosch , it can be found in The Garden of Earthly Delights 6. Seulgi standing on the ladder (paul dominique - lady looking behind the wall) 7. Wendy & Yeri looking at Joy in the water (paul dominique - Nymphs Finding the Head of Orpheus) Hieronymus Bosch painting is all related to this Feel My Rhythm MV including the RedVelvet all sitting inside of room with a table (actually is a monster)(Climbing the Ladder: On Hieronymus Bosch's Vision of Hell) This is a Triptych - a single narrative artwork split into 3 panels. the castle at the end of the MV is in the first panel. There are still got a lot of thing I still haven't done the research yet. So Reveluv : We might get a lot of comeback this year. Prepare for it Luvies!💝💛💙💚💜 Oh, I also forgot the theory of strawberry, can't remember it.
amazing. this comebach makes me feel happy. the staffs composers members etc worked so hard to prepare this masterpiece. and im looking forward to another cb!!💖
the way you screamed "BOSCH?" omfg i have never felt so represented in a reaction video before. i'm so happy it was red velvet, my favorite kpop group, that did this concept. but let's be real: only them and their creative team would ever even think of pulling off something like this, and THAT'S why they're my favorite ❤️🧡💙💚💜
I've seen a lot of reactions, and I think while many reactors applaud the music and artistry of red velvet of a whole, I think you guys have one of the best reactions. It's awesome you are able to perceive the nuances of the video because of both of your backgrounds.
As someone who grew with a lot of classical music, cuz I’m a ballet dancer lol, when I first heard Bach I was like 😳omg what is happening Also the song, simply a masterpiece, I’m literally addicted
That is why I keep saying RV will eventually capture everyone’s hearts with their comebacks because their concepts are so versatile, everyone will definitely relate or be attracted to one
Great reaction. The mv was literally a work, absolutely stunning. Red Velvet members stepped and sure as heck leveled-up. Our RV n.e.v.e.r disappoint. This was a breath of fresh air in whole new direction and I loved it. They all were gorgeous and that shot of Seulgi at end, WOW 😯😍🔥🔥🔥
YES I’m so glad someone with an art history background is reacting to it!!! I’m studying art history and curatorial studies myself so it’s soooo nice to see other reactors get just as shook over the Bosch as I was!!!!!!!! loved this
I seem to run into your reactions when special groups like twice and redvelvet have comebacks. So it's queens doing queen things...nice. Thanks for the art history, it added a nice touch to a great reaction. Don't stay away too long but then kpop has to be worthy of your cb too.🌝❤👍
In this MV some members represent spring and others represent winter. The aim is to highlight the contrast between day/night, light/darkness. But I think baroque would be so much common in this context, so they decided to bring Bosch's art. The painting here is not used literally, it only serves as an inspiration for some concepts and for the setting, and it's just perfect
It’s cool that you both were able to recognize the music and art references upon first watching it, I knew they were referring to something but I didn’t know what 😅 also another K-pop song that samples classical music is BoA and TVXQ’s Tri-Angle which uses Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G minor
what a great reaction!! I'm bingeing fmr reactions to prepare for the November comeback. Y'all picked out those references so fast! When the song came out my roommate called me and told me he saw the first fifteen seconds and we watched it together instead of lecture... core memory unlocked by seeing your happy reactions! I'll let the mosquito slander slide LMAO
Your video popped up in my feed and i wanted to see if fellow art lovers reacted with as much amazement as i did on first sight....and you did! Do watch it again. There are many more paintings and Bosch scenes that you missed. I had no idea about anything in the video beforehand - art or music - and near fell off my chair upon immediately hearing Bach and seeing the Millais Ophelia expanded into Waterhouse’s Orpheus. I had never seen such an MV before. Bosch was everywhere - from beginning, middle, and end. I saw that iconic Fragonard painting (another wow moment) and Monet’s Woman with Parasol first go-round. The girls gathering flowers was super familiar and i had to watch 3x and go through my Pre-Raphaelites art books (it had that vibe) before placing it as another Waterhouse (gather ye roses). I am a huge fan of Waterhouse, and I saw the Garden of Earthly Delights at the Prado. I bought a huge portfolio book of that painting at the museum’s shop and have studied the imagery details a great deal. There are at least 20 images in that video that are from Bosch. How mind-blowing. Even the boat that they are on in the scenes from Swan Lake are in the Bosch painting. It’s fun finding them all. Give it a go! In terms of theme through pictures in that video, it’s as obvious as a knock on the head. That video was my inauguration into Red Velvet and I’m now a huge fan of all they do and have done. I applaud Red Velvet’s production team for keeping classical art and music alive among RV’s primary audience.
The attention to detail and how all those things were incorporated in the mv, I really love how you guys pointed them out! Especially since I'm not rlly well versed in these fields and once I saw the mv for the first time, I just knew there was more to the meaning in the visuals than what met my eyes. And it's so satisfying that you guys were able to point em out and explain what they are, it's so intriguing and it made me realize more things than what I did before seeing your reactions to it and giving your thoughts about the mv. Rlly grateful (≧▽≦)
also in relation to the story i saw this comment on a different video and thought it was super interesting the comment was by Emily Edgan but this is what they wrote "Gibson suggests that the strawberry imagery might connected to a text by Virgil (which probably would have been familiar to Bosch and Hendrik III because Virgil’s passage is referenced in Roman de la Rose, a popular poem in the Burgundian court). In this text, Virgil warns children to not gather strawberries, because “the cold, evil serpent” is hiding the grass nearby. It seems to me that Bosch’s strawberries could serve as an indirect reference to a serpent (and, by extension, the Fall and sin). Such associations fit well with the imagery for The Garden of Earthly Delights" which made me understand a bit more the storyline or referencing ^_^
upon checking most of the reactors... there are only few that can relate on the art and music really... not just saying some common words of praise ... but know what they are talking about 🎧🎧🎧
for kpop songs that sample classical music first one that comes to mind is triangle by tvxq! (mozart 40th symphony) also snsd into the new world (dvorak 9th symphony)
If y’all haven’t watched T.O.P - Doom Dada, it’s got some great modern art and early film references. I’ve showed it to some of my art appreciation students in the past!
I discovered Red Velvet during the Russian Roulette era. Thank you for your reaction. I enjoyed both perspectives. Love, peace, and hope through grace. May your joy be full;).
I wonder why when people talk about the painting everyone would freak out when they see bosch painting? Is it the most popular painting in the MV or is there something more about it?
😂 everyone's got different tastes. don't stress about it. i'm with u tho. loved and still do love the track mosquito! despite the choice of insect for analogy. 😅😍
TVXQ in Tri-angle and H.O.T. in I-yah referenced Mozart. Probably you meant one of them? Also, if you need one more beautiful SM song based on classics, try listening to Taeyeon's Some Nights. It's Peer Gynt and it's beautiful.

Maybe "the great wave off kanagawa"-wendy
I think the part with Yeri on the 2nd verse can be a reference to 'The Birth of Venus'
Thank you so much
@@danimillz7927 aaaaa yaaa
Seulgi on the ladder (Paul Dominique - Lady looking behind the wall)
Wendy & Yeri looking at Joy (as reference to Ophelia) (Paul Dominique - Nymphs Finding the Head of Orpheus)
I just love how Classical Musicians and Art historians appreciate this comeback from RV.
It’s made for us!!!
THE ONLY REACTORS SPEAKING ABOUT BACH AND BOSCH. Love you. Thank you.
We got you 🥰🥰
I think jordan also talked about it in his reaction
React to the K also mentioned it. :3

SM try really hard to make Reveluv learn art history in the fun way
amazing. this comebach makes me feel happy. the staffs composers members etc worked so hard to prepare this masterpiece. and im looking forward to another cb!!💖
You forgot the birth of Venus.
when you’re so used to rv confusing storyline and u just go “thats a big ‘ol strawberry”
