That was Nymeria. Aria saying "that's not you" is referring to the wolf not being a pet anymore. It is in reference to when anybody calls Aria a lady, she says "that is not me".
The whole "thats not you" line that Arya says to Nymeria is a callback to one of the first episodes, when Ned says she will marry a high lord and she says, no, that's not me. It's basically Arya realising that The Direwolf is a creature of the wild, and not meant to be locked up as a pet, much like Arya herself. There is definitely meaning behind this scene, it's more or less in the books too.
"That's not you" is a season one callback to Arya saying she's not a lady especially in comparison to Sansa. Nymeria is no longer a "domesticated" Direwolf.
You guys... That was Arya's wolf. It was a good scene and important. She see's Nymeria. The pack didn't recognize her. But when Nymeria showed up, she protected Arya from the pack. Arya and Nymeria both understood that neither one of them is no longer who they were in the beginning of the show. Like Arya left "her family/pack" and became "no one." Nymeria found her own pack. There is that understanding. Nymeria senses that Arya is an assassin and thats that. When Arya said "thats not you" it's because Nymeria is no longer the wolf she used to be. She has grown. And Arya is no longer "Arya" but she is the faceless man or whatever she earned in the Black and White situation. That is my take. Kinda like a nod to each other and respect.
YOU GIYS ARE WRONG ON THE WOLF SCENE! IT MEANS SO MUCH! Arya told Ned in season one “that’s not me” when Ned told her she would be a lady and have princes as children. When she asked Nymeria to come with her, and she turned around and walked away, Arya realized that Nymeria didn’t want to be with humans. “That’s not you” was her way of understanding why Nymeria didn’t go with her. Also the audience wanted to know what ever happened to Nymeria since we know the fate of all the other Stark wolves.
@@woahblackbettybamalam Sounds hilarious! What is the channel and video name? (Direct links sometimes get blocked so it's better to share the video name.)
I think "It's not you" was paralleling with herself. When someone asked her if she wanted to be a lady, she said, "That's not me." She knew her wolf belonged in the wild.
The line "That's not you" was supposed to be a callback to Arya's literal reply to whenever she was told that she would become a lady (of a royal house of Westeros). Her response has always been "that's not me" (cf. that scene when Ned told her she was going to be a lady someday in Season 1), meaning that she doesn't ever intend to be a lady but instead a strong warrior. In the A Song of House and Fire lore, the Stark children always mirror some aspect of their dire wolves, and the wolves die when their child dies or go away when their child's "Stark-ness" fades. Nymeria was let loose into the wild in Season 1, symbolizing Arya's (forced) abandonment of a high-born life, and when she and Nymeria finally saw each other again in Season 7, Arya realizes that she herself is no longer a tamed animal anymore because it's not in her nature to be. It's a moment of self-realization that even though she's alive and still a Stark, she is not the kind of Stark she was raised to be from youth.
That's not you meant she's free now, she's not meant to be a pet. Like when she says that's not me, that she's not a meant to be a lady and domesticated
Okay, so personal pet peeve of mine : I have a lot of issues with people mocking/criticizing Theon's decision there at the end. What else should he have done? I'd have done the exact same: live to fight another day instead of stupidly sacrificing yourself. Totally agree with Blake's rant though.
People see Yara's reaction as a surrogate for the audiences intended reaction and side with her, despite the fact that she is a "rape, reave, and slaughter until I die a glorious death" character, essentially the pirate equivalent of a blood knight. The show has also shone a very heavy-handed light on the anti-PTSD culture of Westeros and surrounding lands, not unlike WW1 soldiers being committed to asylums for cowardice.
i thought that same thing too, idk if they have HoTD brain. but danny (the queen) is the ONLY dragon rider... i mean yea she could escort them herself but thats an insane risk
Yes there is reason to not escort the fleet with a dragon Blake. To protect them & Dany. It would always be more important to save them vs a fleet. If they still thought Euron was out or returning to Westeros there was no fleet to worry about as well - there was no way to know what you don't know. The sandsnake girls & Yara are just that. Girls. Oberon is dead despite begin a great fighter & so are they against an opponent larger than them.
Y'all are drinking the haterade too much with the nymeria scene. It wasn't pointless. The point of the scene was to show that just like Aria, nymeria is a free spirit and was never meant to be a domesticated direwolf. That's not her. Just like Aria was never meant to be a lady of a castle. It's very poetic and not at all pointless
Did you forget already Igli? There was no trial for the nobleman in Meereen & not all of them liked slavery. We see for instance the guy Dany was going to marry - his dad was killed and he had to beg her to bury him.
Seems like we might get a very negative Blake the next 2 seasons lol hopefully he’ll let Igly form and speak his own opinion at the end of the episodes and then Blake can go on his rants after
I'm sorry, but "build up these strong female characters"? I think Blake is getting book sand snakes confused with show sand snakes. Book sand snakes are indeed strong female characters, each unique in their own way. Show sand snakes are like the discount store sand snakes, whose only demonstration of "female independence" is using the c-word. Show sand snakes are ridiculous and deserved no better than what they got. That scene in S6E10 where Olena basically says "that's enough out of you" to them was fan service. Also, Bronn is a good fighter but Euron is no joke either. He's a well known pirate in most of the known world.
I don't think Theon could have done anything to save Yara at that point. Euron had a knife in her throat. She will have die before a fight between them.
I agree this season has terrible writing but the Nymeria scene wasn’t bad. A reunion of Arya and Nymeria showing how much they’ve changed since they initially parted was beautiful to see. Arya was never meant to be a lady and Nymeria was never meant to be a pet. Shows a mirror characterization

rewatching this, there are so many things that bug me, the way Dany is treated differently than the male leaders and characters, and one example is in this episode with Varys. He has that catty little comment about how she shouldn't expect 'blind allegiance' - isn't that what every single lord in Westeros demands? Allegiance and obedience? This prolly makes me sociopathic, but I laugh my head off when Theon jumps off of the ship..that being said, I love Yara.. XO
