    I had a DS1 my first distortion pedal when I started to gig I played in a duo with a local guitar hero, he was brilliant and he had an mxr distortion + we both had carlsbro stingray transistor amps and Washburn flight series guitars
    His pedal destroyed my boss cutting through like a volume laser, while my volume chickened out and hid behind the drummer

      Not a bad selection of pedals! I think I'm up to like 36 Boss pedals, and I recently started collecting Boss clones, just got a PSK DS-1 clone and a PSK Phaser (it's shaped like a Boss pedal, a tad bigger, but I don't know if the actual circuit is copying a PH-1r or possibly a PH-2, minus the Mode knob... it sounds killer, though). They're like Pokémon, gotta collect 'em all! 🤣

    I am a acoustic guitarist songwriter with a band called Manzanita, a four-piece group. Bass 2 acoustic guitars and me on either acoustic guitar or percussion. BUT...I absolutely love the way, first, that the BOSS pedals LOOK! I can't believe I would use any others, because as a graphic artists too, appearance IS very important to me. There are several pedals in your "Top Ten" that I could see purchasing and using, even though I have an "acoustic Berringer amp that has some sounds in it as well. Don't work for BOSS, but they are my favorite pedals to be sure. The styling and colors are awesome and the sounds they make are true to their stated function.

    I stand by Boss pedals simply because they're both affordable AND if you're out gigging on the road I can get a replacement at any music store. Not so with boutique pedals that can range anywhere from $200-$400 and higher. There are plenty enough ranging pedals you can still create your own signature sound also.

      Which phase shifter, though? I have a PH-1, PH-1r, PH-2, PH-3, and a PSK PAS-2 Phaser (they copied the Boss pedal format, just a tiny bit larger, don't know if the circuit is a Boss clone or original, but it sounds thick and lush 👍).

  • @John-ue8md

    The DD-8 is a giant step backwards for Boss. The DD-5, DD-6 and DD-7 are all much better than the DD-8 because they all do stereo ping-pong where the DD-8 is preset as a mono delay. Sure, SOME DD-8 pedals can do ping-pong stereo delay... but they have to be reprogrammed, and not all of them are reprogrammable. I'm very disappointed with my DD-8, and I would trade it for a DD-7 in an instant.

    what are the best digial compressor, delay and reverb and distortion to use with a dj mixer?

    • @scramblesthedeathdealer
      @scramblesthedeathdealer 11 месяцев назад

      I don't know why you specified a digital compressor, but you may want to check out a DBX stereo compressor for a DJ mixer, they may even have one with RCA ins and outs. A Boss DD-20 Giga Delay would be dope with a DJ setup, plenty of sounds, stereo I/O, etc. Can't go wrong with an RV-6 Digital Reverb, and there are so many distortion options I don't know where to start.

    • @greenmonster9913
      @greenmonster9913 12 дней назад

      Not only should it count as a pedal, it's the most essential pedal on the list. If everyone in the band isn't using the same tuner, there's a good chance the band members will sound out of tune with each other. The Boss is the most widely used tuner, and therefore everybody should have one on their board. If you own no other Boss pedals, you should still have a TU-3. Snarks are a joke in a band situation
