You're referring to the great "Open My Eyes" from Todd's wonderful earlier band The Nazz. The Nazz also recorded and released the first version of "Hello It's Me", which was a single that was played on American AM radio stations as single 45 RPM in 1968. It of course was later rearranged and re-recorded by Todd in 1972 and became a major top ten hit, taken from Todd's first solo vinyl (a double) LP, "Something Anything". release
Raw Rundgren no tricks no gimmicks just the guitar, voice, bass and drums. This was Todd showing the raunchy style of his music and damn he shows that he can play hard rock guitar and it is a screaming and sizzling noise. Rock on Todd you get down boy!

The first Utopia album blew my mind! I’ve never been a huge fan of Todd’s solo stuff, but Utopia has some material that is probably the most underrated music of the last 50 years. Many bands were influenced by him and owe their creative direction to Todd. His work in video production is also vastly unknown.
TODD FAN FOREVER , I'm always amazed by his musical genius , and his GOD given talent as an artist , performer , & producer , musically TODD IS GODD !!!!
Hey! I was at the show! I’m in the front row, left side of the stage… Hilarious! It really was a great show, I flew all the way out from Phoenix for it. Including his last virtual show in March 2021 I think I’ve seen him over 50 times now
Sign me up!! I'm on this Todd kick and youtube knows it as it's serving it up left and right. I had to do the work back in `75 when I discovered Utopia and my love for progressive music. Keep them coming!!!
The Todd Rundgren Powertrio is super cool! Heart was shot! Both Todd and Kasim are performances of the maturity. Such a cool live broadcasting will not be watched anymore in Japan (I am a Japanese). The audience of San Francisco at the time of 2000 is enviable.
Here is the set list... 1. I Hate My Frickin ISP 2. Yer Fast 3. Black and White 4. Number 1 Lowest Common Denominator 5. Open My Eyes 6. Trapped 7. Love in Action 8. Bang the Drum 9. Great Todd stuff! It takes real rock and roll musicianship to make a three piece outfit work. What's with the techs on camera so much? Behind the curtain, guys.
Never saw this whole concert. Just started watching. I am glad there are no keyboards for this concert (obviously why it's a power trio). The individual songs I have watched in the past, I love the closeness of audience and the band. Very intimate setting. Thanks for this Xmas present of Todd in San Fran.
Except for the goofy ukulele version of "Bang..." this has got to be the most amazing collection of TR guitar work. Good to hear Kas sing on "Trapped" ... and then they play "The Ikon" as a power trio. Mind blowing. I can't believe I didn't pay attention to this one earlier. It should have been a double record. Thanks for sharing - going to go order my own DVD right now.
Some drummers have impeccable timing, others an impeccable touch but, few possess both. This guy has both. He also need not engage in the pretentious nonsense of those stupid drum solos. His fills, simple and tight, are his solos. He owns the kit. When watching this guy, I feel as a fellow drummer, impressed to a point where the joy of solid percussion hits an emotional plateau, the point at which his thunder rocks me to tears. Not even Buddy Rich could wrap me up so. I am also dealing with envy and some humiliation. Before catching his act, I considered myself a great drummer. Now, I feel like a worn out has been hack whose career was barely 1970's Holiday Inn material.
@ Man, getting old sucks. If I'd just looked directly below the video, there is the entire line-up courtesy of you. And I would have remembered that Kasim is not his last name. Like I said, getting old sucks. Now, I am going to take a drum stick and whack myself upside the head
@ Temporary Insanity was like jazz chords type sound. I really liked that version. My friend who is 30 listened to the concert last night. He is a guitarist. I gave him this concert just because of the uniqueness. He liked it a lot. He is passing it on to his friends.
As I said in1972, Todd is God. He took us on a lot of great trips. I saw him several times, including the RA you in Terre Haute Indiana and at The Vogue on his one man tour. How he knew what were thinking feeling as we were absorbed into his musical work. I was so lucky to found him early on (something/ anything) to Utopia, to the rest of his album. He doesn't disappoint, except for the Bang on the Drum All Day. I hate that song.Steven Pettinga, Indianapolis
2:41 Saw him there in Columbus. Can't remember the name of the place but it was some super small bar you'd see cover bands at. Lucky if it held 400 people, then the sound cut out for 45 minutes and the band had to leave the stage until it was fixed. I'm not sure why he played there when the Southern Theater was right up the street.
@ had the dvd way back...Saw the Johnson tour with same format in Dallas at Trees...diffent set of course. Thanks Bro. just heard...Him and Hall in Austin may 22...yea...working on it

I recall getting this CD in 2000. Rare guitar-centric performance and still near the height of his singing powers even at age 52.
Yes it's a good performance.
I played through one of those Line6 combo amps. It was new back then (one of the first modeling amps) and I was quite impressed.
