    Can't seem to program 121.5 -- any thoughts?

      The Puxing PX-888K radio on Band A does 134-176 MHz and on Band B does 400-480MHz. You are using a range that isn't covered by this radio. 121.5 is not even used any more for civilian aircraft emergency station. "121.5 MHz is the civilian aircraft emergency frequency or International Air Distress frequency. It is used by civilian distress radiobeacons; however, the Cospas-Sarsat system no longer monitors the frequency." and "Satellite processing from all 121.5 or 243 MHz locators has been discontinued. Since February 1, 2009, the U.S. Coast Guard only monitors distress signals from emergency position indicating radio beacons that broadcast using digital 406 MHz signals.[2] Digital 406 MHz models became the only ones approved for use in both commercial and recreational watercraft worldwide on January 1, 2007."

    What is the difference between px888 and px888k?

    • @ToddHa
      @ToddHa 4 года назад +1

      888 is mono band, either vhf or uhf. 888k is dual band. both vhf & uhf.

      NOTE: The PX-888 mono band radios have an issue with draining the battery when radio is not used. The PX-888K does not have that issue.

      NOTE: The PX-777-Plus model seems identical to the PX-888, except in appearance. Similar feature set & menu options. The PX-777 (non-Plus Model) is more similar to the PX-328 model. Same feature set, same menus, just different appearance. The PX-888, PX-888K, PX-777-Plus radios have the ANI-PTT ID feature and are all (3) compatible with each other. I am a hamradio operator in the usa, so the 'Scrambler' feature means nothing to me. But, hamradio operators in Canada are supposedly granted permission to experiment with the Scrambler feature. Though, there could be significant restrictions to its use.
