- From the original thread with this video:
"Scottie (Cloud) wanted his montage to have somewhat of a Halo 2 type of feel. Not too much over editing, keeping it simple and to the point. I tried my best to capture what he wanted and to his behalf he was excited with the outcome."

This is the official montage for MLG pro Cloud of Team Instinct, the first pro to have won 3 Halo 3 MLG events in a row. The gameplay is really sick, showcasing lots of great sniping, a lot of which is on other tops pros. The editing's great as well, featuring some very well done angles, effects, and color correction, however it isn't as heavy as one would expect at request of Cloud himself. The soundtrack is very unique though when compared to those of other pro montages and sets up a really interesting feel for the video, and like with the editing, I think this is what Cloud wanted. Enjoy!

For all the people who think Walshy is FBWalshyFTW, he's not! FBWalshyFTW is only a youtube uploader and the real Walshy is a halo pro. Thumbs up so, people know!!
When i was trying to get my MLG 50 (from 43) i was running 4s and i faced cloud and the rest of Instinct Cloud had 32 kills..THIS KID IS AMAZING dont hate on the skill you dont have.
i've been done with Halo for a few months now, but i still enjoy these montages. Makes me almost miss it. It was a fun game
But I mean, even though there's barely any overkills in this montage, the stuff done in this montage is pretty much impossible to do for the average player. The first segment is Cloud SINGLE HANDEDLY wrecking 3/4 of Carbon, one of the best Halo teams in the entire world. Even though that part of the montage was just a BR triple and random singles and doubles, it's probably 100x rarer than say, a flashy overkill snipe extermination in low-mid level MLG.
by far the most skillful fps ever..so many amazing moments of ownage i'll remember forever. love this game
@FrozenSprite7
It's the job of pros to play consistent, competitive Halo. Most of these clips were probably gotten while Cloud was playing to improve or maintain his Halo skill through LANs or XBL practice against other good players. I doubt a player like Cloud has time to make 1 months and destroy kids in lvl 1 MLG because playing lvl 1 MLG won't help you place better at an MLG event.
im going to say that this is the best montage out there because 1. almost all clips are against teams that are on the circuit= against great players, 2. this doesnt show just great multikills, it shows the whole sequence through out the game with multiple great double kills or no scopes, that all flow together to show how consistently great his gameplay is, and 3. it isnt OVER EDITED. 5 stars sir
ne brudi. Das Ding von the experience war so viel besser LOL
Random fact, Cloud never paid the guy that made this montage. Said he didn’t like it. Editor released it anyways. Imo this is one of the best Halo montages ever.
Hes so sick and i love how like half these kills were on other pros
@GamingNeon
Finally, someone who understood the point of this video. Bravo.
People always expect pro montages to be edited in an incredibly flashy manner. I've always found this mentality to be ridiculous because pros have some of the best footage in the world (duh), meaning that obscuring their gameplay is a completely asinine move. To better illustrate my point, let's look at Frenetic Array. Overall, I liked the editing, but there were times when it completely overshadowed the gameplay.
@evilee13
The editing and music choice were both done in this fashion at the request of Cloud himself.
@FBWalshyFTW i understand what you are getting at, the caliber at which these players are BR'ing, even though it doesnt look hard when viewed, is astonishing. the way that pro's communicate and talk to let each other know where the opponents are makes getting doubles hard for any team. The fact that some people do not appreciate a simple showcase of consistent and loaded gameplay is annoying at least, and disrespectful to the player at most. Thank you for stating the way that many people feel.
that was some of the best gameplay i have ever seen. i also enjoyed the simplistic editing as it really let the gameplay speak. great montage 5/5
Amazing montage. I loved the way the montage was in sync with the montage, as well as the little snipets that would appear in the video from the music.
I fear Halo 3 was the last competitive game of this caliber. This is all about raw skill.
Cloud's an artist with the sniper rifle. At the times when you'd think he'd use his zoom he pulls off the sickest kills!
this is what ALL montages should be like.
Cloud is sick. Those are amazing clips on top level pros in the world. Mad respect for you man. :)
@socccerr008 Motion blur is just to make the frames run smoother, its not obtrusive. The transitions between every kill help set up sync points. But you're right it doesn't capture the H2 feel.
Man, two great montages in 2 weeks, Roadblocks and now this? Hell ya :D
Sweet editing by ViDoL, as always. And the gameplay was really good, especially against pros.
gotta love the little editing :) eventually somebody understood that the quality of a montage is NOT determinated by the quantity of editing. Thank you
For all the people bashing Vidol for his editing, let me ask you one question:
Did you ever stop to think that this is what CLOUD HIMSELF wanted? In fact, pretty much EVERY pro montage EVER released was tailored to the tastes of the pro(s), NOT the editor. Remember that editors are HIRED to do these things.
Anyways, this video was created in a way to suit Cloud's personal tastes and I admire his desire to create a unique video even though I found several flaws with it.
@FBWalshyFTW i was just about to say i was not fond of the editing, but thats only because it is a style of editing i have not seen before, which makes the editing great. Its nice to see montages that differ from the usual.
loved the video but should of changed the second song but other than that beautiful editing and gameplay!! thumbs up and favorite
Editing taking over footage, in my opinion, completely ruins the purpose of a Halo montage. Editing is supposed to be a supplement to great game footage, not a replacement.
For an absolutely stellar example of simple editing which only added to the gameplay and primarily lets it speak for itself, check out ItWasLuck's 5th Halo 2 montage. Even though editing uses an incredibly small range of basic effects, the harmony established in the video between its elements is simply astounding.
Idk why people are saying the gameplays bad, 90% of these clips are on pros. And cloud is for a fact one of the top slayers and thats what vidol was trying to show because he doesn't go for montage clips he helps his team win, imagine how many of the clips that werent more then a double or decent/bad trips would help out his team in a real game/at events. Not to mention pump his team up to help them win. Great work on the gameplay by cloud and great job on the editing by vidol
amazing how his double kills only are more epic and amazing then 90% off all the multikills that i have seen
This a sick montage !!
And what makes it better is that the clips are on pros !
Love this pro ;)
@iPetrify Agreed, it has more "booms"
I guess if you want to call it that..
Like where the music hits a high note and is explosive.
the music really brings this montage down IMO. i feel like i'm listening to a gilmore girls fan tribute. i'm not cloud's biggest fan but the gameplay and editing deserves more.
Very sweet! Nice trips/doubles on those pros!
@iSnip3tality The name is "Dear Death Part 1 and Part 2" by "Emery".
Beautifully edited montage, one of the best editing jobs i've seen. Decent gameplay good montage.
this is my favorite halo 3 montage
I was also disappointed in the footage, however, this is resultant of the clash between actual skill and an entertaining montage clip.
Skill is dying for your team, placing the win above all else, keeping your calm, working with your team, and playing consistently. True Halo skill isn't supposed to translate into flashy footage like that in Roadblock's montage. If anything, incredible flashiness is a demonstration of selfish playing which is actually a demonstration of a lack of skill.
I would really like to see an OGRE2 or Fear It Self montage.
How can you dislike this? Cloud's snipes Are Ridick!
Awesome montage. Cloud has got to be my favorite pro. He's a guy of few words, I've never seen him boast about how good he is(he might, but if he does he hides it well). He's a humble player, unlike (ahem) Pistola. Now I'm not saying Pistola sucks, obviously he's one of the best out there, but that little punk ass doesn't know good sportsmanship. But anyways, Cloud is a great team player with a massive amount of individual skill. This montage shows it. Thumbs way up!
I love how there's so many comments about the songs being shitty. Honestly, the songs were not shitty at all. They were just different and unique. Call it taking a shot in the dark but Cloud likes the song enough to put it in his montage and though, no it's not what I listen to everyday, I very much like the flow. To me, I think to myself, finally, something different for once. Good job Cloud. Thank you for the uniqueness.
Haven't seen a montage this good in a while, Cloud's one of my fav players as well :P
The first song is Dear Death (Part 1), second is World Away, both by the same band Emery. Idk about the credits. :P
The song during the video is Emery - world away
I like watching Cloud play. Hes very smart and skilled.
@APlayaProduction StormCrow514 Said the name of the songs below me
Music:
Dear Death Part 1 - Emery
World Away - Emery
Nightlife - Amon Tobin
@Telfair332 this were leftover clips I think, watch the other montage on FBWalshy's channel that one is awesome
Vidol is a fuckn savage... up there with the best editors
NICE teamwork and callouts at 1:44
amazing but simple editing. good coordination with the music.
That was amazing. Loved the music. Loved everything.
The best montage ever ...
Sick montage! Simple edit and good music with very nice gameplay
Really great montage. Not ridiculously high muktikills, but a bunch of really cool shorter ones. And the cool editing was what made that okay. Probably pretty similar to what my montage is gonna look like.
love this montage. so chill and the songs are great. plus hes destroying pros. Thumbs up for sure.
I really like how this montage didn't really focus on extreme multikills.. Rather those "Ohhh!!!" moments you only get at a MLG event. You might write off those double kills now, but if you'd have seen that in person you'd have jumped out of your seat.
I love Emery, seriously my favorite band. The songs made the montage for me and the majority of my good friends. Edited well, dirty gameplay, amazing songs. Although, I was expecting dear death part 2 and that probably would have flowed better in general but still 6/5
@MoeDynasty the br did not have bloom....... it had bullet spread! HUGE difference. the br had a set rate of fire that was accurate to some extent. the dmr can either shoot fast and inaccuratly or slow and accuratly.
Omg this is so awsome ! I was like wtf is it done already at 1:49 i think then it becale better and better wel good job and nice eddit cheer's :)
@FBWalshyFTW 100 % correct, u have to bare in mind that all these clips are againts pros that have 50s in mlg. A triple kill is rare belive me.
Too good.... Way too good.
Ahhh... the good times
HAHA i remember the killpocalypse from the vid of his MLG FFA that was nasty.. sick montage :D cloud
Loved the elevator music at the end lol.
@xGiSolace read the description. He didn't want flashy editing. more halo 2 style
@Niktionzx my sensivity is at 6, but if ur a novice u should stay with 3, it's better like that. And in my oppinion, the tv dosen't matter at all, it's just the quality of the graphics that change.
@sOxG4ming the tastes of the editor, there are loads of Halo montages as well that use hip-hop in them instead, was seeing a lot of Kid Cudi at one point
Music:
Dear Death Part 1 - Emery
World Away - Emery
Nightlife - Amon Tobin
WOW cloud's gotten exterms on pro teams! insane!
@ZhestalVids Each game was a display of Bungie's effort for us; the company did their best given the technology at the time. Halo: Reach looks great simply because of the time zone in which it was created. In my opinion, Bungie favors the games prior because of their popularity and the enjoyment they brought to many people.
Is black ops any good? I was always a halo player, but I don't really like reach. Cod has so many bugs... did they fix them in black ops?
lol at 4:07 those are some of my real life friends, jason farly doesnt get killed but lx br is beast is james and jenosi is john lol he quit after dallas last year
Loved the music and editing. Great montage :)
MKost H3 montages i cant watch all the way through because there all the same but this one was fun to watch allt he way through. great job.
@Up2Eight Are you fucking serious? This isn't overly edited in any way, the editing merely supported the gameplay... There were almost no unnecessary effects at all.
@IDrags yeah kinda true but u can team up with people and still have a good time
its cloud favorite pro, good tage bro
@Up2Eight Point out an effect in this montage that was unnecessary, please.
There are a few, but there always is; and it doesn't automatically make the video over-edited.
@TeamLeTHaLHD that is so true i met 80 percent of my friends list from halo 3
and please tell me what songs you used, i really like them.
clouds a beast
for once i can say wow, i am impressed
everyone whos complaining about gameplay stfu. theres were barely any clips in this tage that didn't include a pro, and yes that makes a huge difference, the game is a lot faster, and people hit more shots, leaving you with less time to hit yours, making every single clip in this montage realllyyyy clutch
DefinitivaMente.. Cada dia me sorprende mas Los videos!! un dia de estos Boi a U.S.A Para Jugar con ustedes. Saludos Desde Colombia!! :)
@IDrags its not dead, so many people still play it. dont say that.. dont let it die. its better than reach. alot better.
The song is by a band called Emery. I forget what song.
status ques is up there too
4:15
Oh god, that was awesome.
good montage nice job Vidol and everbody who worked on this fanastic JOB and good luck in future Montages :)
@Phillip87 Ive never heard of Run Down and I dont think hes Semi Pro, but Naded and Soldier are both pros.
@Cajuncooked666
Definitely, as did Dutchy's newest montage. Looking forward to see what snip3down has to offer. As far as i can see, roadblock or dutchy have the competition at the tips of their fingers.
@IDrags no, you havnt played it in awhile, its not dead.
These no scopes are insane... Its like i went back to h2 and watched one of phurions montages on all those scrubs in rp... except cloud just shits on anything that will play against him lol
*killpocalypse
and it WAS cloud. there's a video of the whole gameplay from it on youtube. he goes +76
@Z26a1c3k11 Do you know whats the name of the song?
@ItzLegitGaming haha found the band out by itwasluck from halo 2 so cold i can hear my breath
@FBWalshyFTW the BR triple wasn't 'single handedly'. the only player he put more than two shots in was walshy, and that's because he used cover. and being able to reflex-noscope carbon doesn't really show skill. i could probably do that to carbon if they were far enogh away.
dude this guy is a god sniping! jesus! :O
To all those who doubt Cloud: He's got 3 consecutive MLG event wins, going for a 4th.
What do you have?
Cloud said he hated the music and he wanted heavier music
dis is tight
