During this period, BTS was essentially making musical theater to portray what goes through the minds of pubescent teens. Note it takes place in a working-class school. Their portrayals do not reflect their actual dispositions. They are acting. BTS members particularly during this period were very shy around women. Some have confused their aggressiveness for messaging which it is not. It is just acting a role. In their next era you will see drug use, murder, depression, suicide and more. Again, these things are theatrical and meant to relate a story. So I think if BTS acting is taken out of context it may be seen as problematic, but if you see that it takes place in a rundown school you get a sense of the neighborhood these kids are being portrayed to come from.
C'mon now Eric LOL...clearly they are acting I stated that in my vid. If I saw another group doing this I'd say the same things I said in my vid.... obviously you know BTS back story for the vid. This is my journey for the first time watching them and their videos. They haven't been aggressive to women in the videos I've seen thus far so it was unexpected. So from my first point of view with this video... that aint how you treat a lady no matter where you come from. I grew up in a bad neighborhood went to a rundown school and this type of aggression from pubescent teen boys was not present so I cant agree with you on that part. Also..It sucks you gave spoilers for the upcoming videos. Dang it Eric LOL Anyway, this is my raw reaction.. this doesnt make me dislike BTS or the song. I get it's a video and they are acting. However as a woman seeing anyone be aggressive to another woman and explaining it as a boy in luv..will make me react the way I did. That's why I put reaction in the title.
I believe I heard that Jin profusely apologized for slamming the girl against the locker so hard. He didn’t mean to. And I think the girl was Jin’s cousin. I think a lot gets messed up in translations. The channel “Enjoy BTS More” does a great job with translations, and has translations for nearly every live performance.
Wow... way to treat a cousin! no I'm kidding LOL That is an awesome channel too. I understand they were acting. I gotta be honest with my reaction..i was like um excuse me sir?! I still think BTS is awesome! 100%
Mee likey this era too.. the eyeliner bad boy. 🥰 You are cracking me up. Jin said he really didn't like being aggressive with her and apologized. If you watch the behind-the-scenes he says that.
LOL YEA!! That eyeliner was hittin! I get they were acting. Just for my first time seeing this one after the previous vids I was like...hol up...what the hell LOL BTS is still my jam though!
Boy With Luv w/Halsey is "kind of" a companion to this one in terms of showing how the guys have learned & grown from that 'teenage' boy to respectful young men. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
You are absolutely right The hybe lyrics were much better than the other lyrics because the first lyrics seem real aggressive LOL but thank you so much for watching I appreciate you💜
Hello to the both of you, I do wanna add that if you watch the making of and behind the scenes of the music video Jin and Suga both Didn’t wanna do their part, they Were both very Sorry to that Girl and apologized Repeatedly to her, but I do remember reading somewhere or seeing something where they asked the actress before filming what she would want a boy to do to get her attention and it was exactly how they acted out their scene!! I felt so bad for Suga and Jin for having to be so rough with her but they Both were very sorry for it
Hey hun, Yes as one Army said, at this time a lot of Kdramas about school love had guys putting their hands on girls, even some todat are like that, so yeah, i get it. But, as you see changed some of the lyrics and actions in the video. They and BigHit took alot of flack for the first one you saw. They learned better. It was right after this time that the guys went to the USA and were mentored by Coolio and Warren G. Thats another thing that BigHit took flack about as you'll see when you watch it. Remember, the guys are only 15, 17, 18 at the time and never been away from home. They were shooked at first and really upset. JK was crying. But enough said. Thanks , great reaction hun and your advice is right on as always!! As to your cooking, you cook what ever you like, i enjoy a different perspective from a different location. I enjoy them all!!😅 Take Care sweet young lady and please stay healthy and safe. 🫰💜💜💜
I get it. Of course they were acting those characters may be cool for those liking Kdramas, but where I'm from....that do not fly with ladies. I see why they got flack....I like the song but those aggressive parts put a sour taste in my mouth LOL No doubt I like BTS and the song... just gotta keep it real Have a awesome weekend!!!
You should see the behind the scenes for this video. Jin is horrified when he has to push her and keeps bowing with a red face. This looked like the most uncomfortable video I have seen them film due to the teen awkwardness fuming up the room haha Also, I thought the same thing about the word "jump" but they maybe should have used "bounce" instead. The slang for "I am out of here" which changes the whole songs vibe to an English speaker hehe
You mentioned you haven't seen this before, and outside of one other video (that isn't NEARLY as much as this) you'll not see it again, especially if you think about JK's Seven, where he never touched her until she grabbed his hand...that's evolution and growth when discussing these matters. I believe this is what RM refers to in the book regarding their high/low/high/low period. They were still very much trying to find their identity, while taking note of what was going on in pop culture at the time, which was laden with these visuals. You got it right tho fo sho, it's a weird feeling to see this knowing they are so much better. Ok. Now to watch the other half where you check out the dance practice (I stopped mid way to comment real quick like) 😂
Ok. Watched 2nd half and yes - this coreo is 🔥 For even more awesomeness when you have a moment check out the dance practice. The one camera focus is where it's at 🙌🏾 You always have such positive words and messages, at its core that's what this ARMY life is all about. Of course there's the outliers and very very vocal minority but the messages you ALLways end your videos with is exactly what we need more in this world, and BTS offers access to that, and to be able to celebrate it at that! P.S. don't count RM out on the twig and berry action now, you've seen Bapsae 😉😂💜
Hey D'Alice!!💜💜 I love that they learned and grew in the process. Alot of groups miss the mark. The vid was still cute but I couldn't let those scenes go by without keeping it real. Some Army didn't like it though 😜 But it's OK I can only be me and keep it honest. The choreo version was 🔥 they were jamming and the way the vid was shot was smooth. I'm going to check the dance practice out for sure😁 I definitely got to show Army love at the end of my vids! I've gotten alot of comments and dms from Army sharing their stories with me. I want them to know no matter what, there is some positivity in these uniquely special lives of ours. We deserve to be happy and be free to live our lives in bliss. It's unfortunate that the world is full of haters and assholes but if we keep a positive mind, keep strong and keep our heads up....we can live in our own bliss while thrown our middle fingers up to negative shit😜💜💜 Yes your right! RM hit them twigs and berries in Bapsae 🤣 they all did!!!😂
Hey! Long time no see! I'm happy to see you back! The aggression was a bit disturbing...they caught a whole lotta flack for it, and after, apologized for the insensitivity, and are very careful to be sure they are not making that mistake again. You're right, they were acting. It certainly doesn't mirror their personal behaviors. Hope to see you again soon!!!💜 Oh, I see some more of your reactions popping up! Guess I better hit that notification button, cuz it looks like I missed a few😊
Hey! :) Yea I was like...what the... LOL I'm glad they learned and recovered from it. No love lost for them at all. I just had to keep it honest on my feels Yes please hit the notification button! I appreciate you watching!
Another ARMY said before they were recreating scenes from popular K-Dramas (i don't know that but it kinda makes sense) Thank you for another great reaction 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Okay, first.... That aggression is a cultural difference. Jin did go a bit hard during his scene (and, as others have stated, did apologize to the girl after), but in Korea, stuff like that is quite common (or was at the time), and actually seen as "manly". The girls - again, at that time, not sure about now - loved it when their crush would do stuff like that, because being so aggressive like that was one way to show they'd be good "protectors" if they dated them. Secondly...buckle up, it's a long one....LOL Lyrics are almost always...tricky. No language really directly translates into another. Plus, Koreans have many words that are VERY specific (cooking pot versus a flower pot can have hilarious results if you accidentally ask for the wrong one). At the same time, Korean also has many words that can mean 2, 3, or even 8, different (and completely unrelated) things. So, depending on who does the translations, you can get some pretty weird results. Often they just plain don't make sense, sometimes what's translated is not what BTS meant. "War of Hormone" is a perfect example of this. They sing the line "Women are equations..." (okay...not bad so far)...but the follow-up line was originally translated as "Men just DO them". They were called misogynistic. It became a whole thing with the haters. RM apologized (I'm still pissed he did, he really didn't have to) and even started taking his lyrics to female professors in Women's Studies to be sure nothing could be THAT mistranslated again. Anyway, what they actually meant was "Men just SOLVE them". More precisely, as straight men (as far as we know, anyway), it was meant more as "men just figure them out". Being adult ARMY, and thinking back, when hitting that dating age, straight, gay, bi, or otherwise, weren't we ALL trying to "figure out" our crush? What do they like, what do they dislike, how should we act in front of them, etc. So, honestly, "do" actually makes MORE sense. Simply for the fact that even in elementary school, when we got math homework, I don't ever remember a single classmate saying "I have to solve my math problems before I can play". Nope...we would say "I gotta do math first" or 'I'll be outside after I do my math homework." The sexual connotation of "do" was never meant/intended in that song...but...haters gonna hate and when it comes to BTS, those haters would do anything to try to knock them down.
Yeahhhhhh they have some lyrics and moments in a couple of MVs from this era that definitely make me cringe. They did get called on it and, while they were legit concerns, it was actually an attempt at sabotage from other fandoms. They took it really seriously and did the work. RM read a ton and met with women’s studies instructors and really took the time to listen and learn. Honestly, although it came from people with bad intentions, I’m thankful they were called on it. It truly made him a better, more thoughtful lyricist, in my opinion. When I read about how they handled the whole thing, it made me respect them more than I already did. I should say that my opinion is not a popular one. The main reaction I’ve heard is “well, others say much worse, what’s the big deal?” Not as bad is still not good, kwim? To me, it’s okay to not be cool with it, regardless of where it falls on the scale of problematic. Well that was more than I meant to write. Lol Appreciate your reaction and honesty as always. I love that you took the time at the end to talk about bad relationships and getting out.
That totally sucks that people would take an opportunity for them to learn from their situation and turn it to something negative that's so crazy to me. Being apart is of a fandom is supposed to be fun not malicious and having bad intentions. Some folks take things just way too far. I agree with you I'm glad they were called on it and it made them more thoughtful on how they handle certain video ideas LOL I'm pretty sure that it was mostly the record company or directors asking them to go about it in this way because I've been told by Army that they weren't really digging those things either. And as a newcomer to the group seeing what they are about and what they talk about this video just didn't fit LOL but it was a learning experience for them I'm sure. It seems like a few armies wanted to explain to me the situation and I want them to understand that I have no love lost for BTS it's just as a woman seeing another woman get done like that I don't care what type of culture someone comes from something has to be said I can't just watch that and not keep it real LOL and it's definitely important if you not liking it run for the Hills leave that relationship but there are some that like it like that LOL thank you so much for commenting and watching! I appreciate you so much and I'm thankful for your activity on my channel you are awesome❤️❤️💜
@@PoeticDoesIt I totally agree. It’s one of those you see something, you say something things. I definitely don’t want younger fans to see this and think it’s okay and something they should accept in their lives. The guys were desperately trying to look cool and tough back then. Not an excuse, but I think they thought that it’s how they had to be to be hip hop. I often forget just how young they were. They learned and grew in many ways and it’s so cool to see the progress they made over time. And now that they have time fo breathe, it feels like they’re each learning about themselves and settling into who they are as adults. Anyway, always appreciate you. I don’t comment a ton on other videos, but I often connect with what you’re saying.
Hi Ms Poetic! I took it as they were h****y teenage boys and they trying to be Billy Bad Ass and impress the girl. They got so much crap for this and War of Hormone. I personally love both songs and videos.
Hey hey! But if they were H___y wouldnt that make it waaaay worse LOL that means they were behaving from lust and not only is that dangerous..thats not the way to impress a lady. Now i know they were acting. The visuals of those aggressive character scenes threw me off a bit. Love them and the song for sure.
They got so much flack for this and War of Hormone! BigHit and BTS apologized and after this RM would check his lyrics with women's studies profs. Kind of awesome experience for them I think, set them on a track of being very responsible. In the making of Jin is so apologetic to the girl after slamming her into the locker, she was laughing, my impression is this was their idea of being manly 🤦♀️ I've never worried about it again since then except for JK's latest track where the featured rapper talks about thots and ABGs (Asian baby girl), and "putting shrooms to good use". Ick, really rubs me the wrong way but I've seen very few reactors mention it, the ones who have seem to be closer to my generation, I guess I'm old!? In any case, I hope someday you get into their reality show American Hustle Life because there's a 3rd MV of this song, directed by Warren G! 😂💜
I agree I love JK but explicit Seven and 3D are vulgar, catchy yes, super popular ok but compared to Magic Shop, Your Eyes Tell or Still With You to me they don't. (and I know he is grown) 💜
I see why they got the flack...the visuals could be triggering for some. The aggression is not accepted by alot of folks. It made me feel some kind of way....like what the...that's not cute!!?? I totally get they were acting and all that though. I'm glad they learned from it. I've been hearing alot about JK new song. I'm not a Jack Harlow fan but wouldn't expect him watch what he says. People also should not fault JK over what Jack Harlow says. But I'll check that out soon to see for myself. I also heard there was a version without Jack Harlow. I've been thinking of checking out American Hustle Life. I heard it was cool. So stay tuned!
@@PoeticDoesIt the reason I have no issue with the song anymore is because the song itself is pretty damn great, I've seen lots of live performances of it and it's awesome, the audience loves it. Plus they wrote Boy With Luv as a "reply/apology" for Boy in Luv and I find that pretty awesome! At their MMA 2019 performance, which I'm sure you've gotten a million recommendations for, they do them back to back, the message is pretty clear. Also because of Cameron - if you're into crass humor, there's a guy who does dubs of BTS videos, he's an OG army with an insane amount of subscribers, Boy in Luv is my favorite of his dubs, truly hilarious (although some find it crazy offensive, well that's the point lol), search for Cameron Philip Boy in luv :) About 3D, I have zero issues with JK getting his freak on, you want to tell the world you're having sex power to you son! 🤣 But as for Jack Harlow, I just don't like the idea of "words" like ABGs and thots getting normalized through a pop song, much less "putting shrooms to good use". I'm still hoping somebody tells me he meant he's taking the shrooms, not feeding them to her so he can get some action. At the end of the day, JK has the final word on what he includes in his song. I'm streaming the alternate version and the dance practice! (neither include Jack's part) Cheers! 💜
The translation did not translate well. They got a lot of bad responses on it. That is why RM has feminist person checks the words and boy with love came out
Yeah this was supposed to be like the school kdramas at the time. A lot of boy groups did the same kind of concept apparently. HOWEVER! They eventually did a response song, Boy With Luv. One of my favorites 💜 Tho i say that about many bts songs 🤣 They were trying to portray that tough bad boy image lol even tho they're all the best soft boys 🥺 Love seeing you as always! 💜💜💜
I'm so glad they did a response and learned from this vid. No doubt I still like BTS and what I've seen and heard so far. I get they were acting... and I heard they got flack from this vid so its cool to know its not just me that was like...what the?? LOL Thanks so much for coming back and watching!! I purple you!!
During this period, BTS was essentially making musical theater to portray what goes through the minds of pubescent teens. Note it takes place in a working-class school. I like the choreo version better. Not just K Dramas with the wrist grabbing. I've seen it in lots of East Asian dramas., even modern ones.

In the making of Jin is so apologetic to the girl after slamming her into the locker, she was laughing, my impression is this was their idea of being manly 🤦♀️
I've never worried about it again since then except for JK's latest track where the featured rapper talks about thots and ABGs (Asian baby girl), and "putting shrooms to good use".
@@namastan5580 your eyes tell is an incredible song, absolutely beautiful 💜

Also because of Cameron - if you're into crass humor, there's a guy who does dubs of BTS videos, he's an OG army with an insane amount of subscribers, Boy in Luv is my favorite of his dubs, truly hilarious (although some find it crazy offensive, well that's the point lol), search for Cameron Philip Boy in luv :)
About 3D, I have zero issues with JK getting his freak on, you want to tell the world you're having sex power to you son! 🤣
But as for Jack Harlow, I just don't like the idea of "words" like ABGs and thots getting normalized through a pop song, much less "putting shrooms to good use". I'm still hoping somebody tells me he meant he's taking the shrooms, not feeding them to her so he can get some action. At the end of the day, JK has the final word on what he includes in his song. I'm streaming the alternate version and the dance practice! (neither include Jack's part)
Cheers! 💜
The translation did not translate well. They got a lot of bad responses on it. That is why RM has feminist person checks the words and boy with love came out
I'm definitely glad he took the opportunity to learn from the situation! I still have much love and respect for the guys💜❤️💜
People are weird and they love to use you
💯
💜
