Haven't surfed Cloudbreak but I've had Wilkes and Namotu lefts a few times in the past. So when ever I watch these waves they bring back good times that I've had. Once again what a Screamer.
What's mind boggling about thee ocean and surfing is you can talk about it/share it, watch from shore, watch from the boat, see a video, or even a drone video, but unless you're actually in the line up you basically lol have no clue on how beyond words or amazing it truly is, not to mention the power and respectful fear... There is no greater after glow than surfing. This guy will start coming down from his after glow of this wave in prolly 30 yrs, and at that time h'ell `still be beaming. *Great job on the drone composition, you nailed it, historic footage!! I surfed cloud break in the early 90s. While it was never as big as this, it was solid nearly every day. To get to the island of Tavarua (at least then), they would send a small boat to pick you up from Fiji, while dropping off the guests that had been there the week before. We were really confused, the surfers being dropped off were all pissed off, would not talk to us, all massively hungover. Turns out it had been ankle biter flat the entire week, not a single surf able session, and the forecast as they are leaving is for head, high or more for the next week. Felt really bad for those dudes, it was pretty expensive even back then.
Love the juxtaposition of Soli's butterfly feet as he trims the sweet spot , compared to the absolute explosions happening in the background when the lip hits the reef.
