Something that gets neglected when various cook systems are demonstrated is the heat-robbing effect of the wind. Even a slight wind will rob any cooking system of heat, which wastes fuel and lengthens cooking time. This becomes even more critical for alcohol burners when the temperature drops. The true utility of the Trangia Storm Cook System is that the effective wind screen design doubles as a practical pot stand while providing adequate airflow for the alcohol burner. With the exception of the fry pay, the kettle and the pots that Trangia supplies all fit well inside the protection of the upper windscreen. However, the large pot leaves a gap between the upper windscreen and the bottom of the pot, completely outside the protection of the upper windscreen. Additionally, the pot is directly in the path of the heat-stealing wind. Think about the amount of thermal energy, supplied by that small alcohol burner needed to bring water to a boil in that large pot. To save fuel, you would need to use a large folding windscreen that covered the large pot on top. I'm not saying that this large pot will NEVER work. But it definitely pushes the boundary of practicality for the the 25 and the 27. The best solution would be for Trangia to simply introduce even larger upper and lower windscreens storm cooker systems. The pot used for the 25 is so large that a suitably-sized lower windscreen may need to accommodate two burners. P.S. I'll offer this as well. Some companies make small two-piece cross pot stand that fits directly on the Trangia in order to use it independently of the Trangia windscreens. Here's a link to one on Amazon. www.amazon.com/Acxico-Outdoor-Camping-Alcohol-included/dp/B093PSVYDQ?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A1RV7R81U3FOKU. Put this on the burner and then place a metal soup can lid on top before you set your pot or pan on the stove. It will act as a heat diverter to help prevent a hot spot in your pot or pan. Drill a few holes in the soup can lid to help with even heat distribution. I'm not sure why Trangia doesn't supply something like this already.
I gree to this, which makes the 27/25 one of the most storm proof sove/cook sets out there. If using frypan or large billy pot You really need to make a wind shield of some kind. I often use the packpack or find a better spot in the terrain. That alco burner pot stand looks nice and would be awesome to test.
Nice. What also matches very well is a Trangia 27 that perfectly fits into the Tatonka 2.5 (stainless pot + pan). And I'm running my Trangia with an Optimus Polaris multifuel burner. With the legs folded in it's cilindric shape fills the whole quite nice without any modifications.

So tack igen!
@@Braapncamp Don't have any videos, but the Orzo was easy-a one pot dinner. For 2 people, I browned some spicy Italian sausage and diced chicken thigh, added diced onions, and deglazed the larger Trangia pot with chicken stock. Then about a half cup of tomato sauce and brought it to a boil. I tossed in a scant cup of Orzo pasta, a little more salt, reduced the heat and let it simmer until the pasta absorbed the chicken stock. I had to add more stock, and frequently had to stir to keep the mix from sticking to the bottom of the thin wall pot though. I also chopped some spinach and added that when the pasta was almost done. Then I added a handful of parmesan, mixed it into the pasta, and plated it with a large spoon of ricotta cheese in the middle. Filling, and very good! Hi Mattias I have been watching all your trangia videos, thanks you so much for shareing your experience! I have decided on getting a 25 duossal set, looks like a great system. I really like to cook on stainless, especially searing meat is much better than non stick. I would however love to add a second non stick frying pan in the set to make fried eggs, fish or pancakes easier, but don't want to inscrease the size so the whole thing still fits in the nice EVA case. It looks like a 27 frying pan, although it's a bit wider than the pots and it would be a rather tight fit and hard to grab with the pot holder during cooking, could fit inside the windshield on the pot holders for cooking and could also be packed flipped upside down over the pots inside the windshield for storage. Could you confirm that that works? Is there still enough room for the pot holders to be flipped in and the duossal frying pan to close normally? I would also like to add the Multi Disk. I think that should still fit as well? I however don't need a kettle. Maybe an idea for another video? 😊 Take care!
Thanks, much appreciated! Interesting idea, I may have tried this in the past. I will test this and come back on how it works out. At the beginning of next week.
With the 27, when you put it in the billy pot, doesn’t the strap come off and go on the outside through the billy pot lid? If it’s tight enough it might just fit and secure the whole thing together?
Yes thats true, and it does! I missed to show that part. Thanks for this input to the thread. It is a very tight fit, especially if You have the 27 in its storage bag. Frypan 24cm XL Art.nr: BF307258 Cant see a separate lid that i know fit. But there is another frypan with lid included Art.nr: BF307260. This frypan is of another type so i don't know hoemw it fits and it does not mount on the Trangia 25 kit in the same way. One of the commenters in this videos comments report that he's not happy with the fit of the frypan that i have. I have used mine since the 90's and it works great for me.
The BF307258 is actually 29 cm in diameter, so quite a lot larger than the 24 cm. It also does not seem to have thick bottom, which affects heat distribution. The larger size in itself though is of course a plus, but would it be possible really to use this 29 cm pan with the trangia 25, as stated by Trangia?
Hey Mattias, and thank you for the video :) I do wonder,- i mean you have probably tried this already, but could simply turning the 1,4 liters lid upside down potentially lower how much of it sticks out? That way the handle would be pointing down into the kettle after all. Just a thought 🙂 Kind regards, Claus
@@Braapncamp Hello again Mattias :) aha, i hadnt seen that, but it is good news that there is an easy method to solve the problem at least partially! :-) Happy trails to you as well! Claus
Hi Mattias, greetings from UK! Great video with a lovely background views and sounds. Very useful information about options for the Trangia cook sets. I have the Trangia 27 but I would like to try the 24cm frying pan for occasionally making pancake for the family. Would this pan fit on the pot supports of the Trangia 27? Or is it way much bigger and would loose efficiency? Let me know your thoughts. Reason my asking is that I could justify purchasing the 24cm frying pan for those occasions, but the entire 25 coolest I think would be too much investment for very little use. Thank you.
Thanks! The 24cm pan is to big for the 27. It won't be stable on top. Heat should not be the problem though. Better to get i.e. a Muurikka Picnic and plan for open fire cooking at these occasions. If that is possible for your hikes.
I invent trick to have trangia suitable with many gas burner. Two wire in upper wind shield which support it on the burner pot stand legs. Four small holes an two wire it require.
@@Braapncamp ThankQ for your reply. I would only need the pots an kettle from the 27. Be nice to have the two frying pans and windshields for bigger camps
@@Mr420brad hi again, i tested this today. The 27 fits perfect inside the 25 windshield and base. The problem comes to the 25's 3 potstands that can't be folded down when the 27 sits inside. So this will not work without a mod on the stands and how they are fastened.
Thank you for sharing this video! I really like the idea of expanding the use without adding too much bulk to the existing stoves. One question...have you tried adding a larger pan to the 27’s top or base like you did with the 25? I am thinking of getting the 27 but afraid the pan diameter is too limiting for two people. The billy pot might be great for stew but might not work best for frying burgers, eggs, etc.
Thanks! No I have not expanded the 27 with a larger frypan. I tested the 25 frypan but it does not sit well on the frypan stands. I would be interested in that too since I think that the frypans size is the only drawback on the 27.
@@Braapncamp Thanks for the quick reply, Mattias. I have seen some people prop a larger pan up with a small metal grill rack, but I did wonder if the 25 pan fits. If you only have one stove in the 27 size, would you go HA or duossal for the same price? I do worry about sticky surface/difficulty cleaning but not sure if it’s worth the extra weight.
I would probably go with the HA. There is no significant difference in how they behave regarding cleaning and cooking. If I should buy a 25 and use it for basecamp, vehicle based use etc, i would go with the Duossal. You cant really go wrong and if you later would like a nonstick or Duossal frypan you can always complement for a reasonable cost. Spares are low priced.
Hi, they just made it larger on request and while doing it the made it to fit over the existing. The also make a "deeper version now". Great complement for easier cooking.
J. Fielden I tried but the lid builds more hight up side down. I think trangia should do a foldable ”lid grabber”, like a small metal triangle like others. Probably even less weight and cost effective in production.
Bra inlägg i saken.

Hey Mattias, and thank you for the video :) I do wonder,- i mean you have probably tried this already, but could simply turning the 1,4 liters lid upside down potentially lower how much of it sticks out? That way the handle would be pointing down into the kettle after all. Just a thought 🙂
Kind regards, Claus
That definitely helps Claus! This was up as suggestion before by fellow Trangia fan in the comments. Thanks and Happy Trails Claus!
@@Braapncamp Hello again Mattias :) aha, i hadnt seen that, but it is good news that there is an easy method to solve the problem at least partially! :-) Happy trails to you as well! Claus
great video! where did you get your jumper from? very dashing!
rageagainst thestoneage thanks! I bought it in Norway years ago.
Thats cool!
Hi was wondering if you might be able to answer a question that’s been rattling around my mind.
Will a 27 complete nest in a bare 25 ?
You mean nest in the 25 windshield only? I cN check that. But i know that the 27 does not fit in a complete 25 without kettle.
@@Braapncamp ThankQ for your reply. I would only need the pots an kettle from the 27. Be nice to have the two frying pans and windshields for bigger camps
I will give it a try and get back in a few days.
@@Mr420brad hi again, i tested this today. The 27 fits perfect inside the 25 windshield and base. The problem comes to the 25's 3 potstands that can't be folded down when the 27 sits inside. So this will not work without a mod on the stands and how they are fastened.
@@Braapncamp well ThankQ for trying it out for me. Something to put on the back burner to look into the mods needed. Thanks again 👍🏼
Hi,Is Trangia Mini fit to put in 27 or not?And 27 is fit to put in 25?
Hi, no not really. Some parts could be combined but it does not fit straight away like that.
@@Braapncamp Thanks☺️
Have to wonder why Trangia don't make the frypan in the standard diameter for the 25? Its an obvious upgrade for owners.
Was going to ask about nesting over the standard frypan but see you showed that - maybe that's why they made it larger, on purpose
Hi, they just made it larger on request and while doing it the made it to fit over the existing. The also make a "deeper version now". Great complement for easier cooking.
@@Braapncamp Just ordered a 725-24, looking forward to seeing how it goes. Thanks for the demonstration
Happy trails and cook with style 💪🤠🔥
Very good thanks

Tack för återmatningen Anders 👌.
I was watching on low resolution and I thought your sweater was chainmail lol . I thought this guy takes survival really seriously.
👀😂 that was fun. Love this sweater or "lusikofta". 👌
Yes, I have “other” kinds of pots…
U are genius
Not really but thanks 😁👍
can you turn the lid of the larger kettle upside down and it fit better?
Interesting idea! Will try and get back to You about that.
J. Fielden I tried but the lid builds more hight up side down. I think trangia should do a foldable ”lid grabber”, like a small metal triangle like others. Probably even less weight and cost effective in production.
Flip the teapot lid UPSIDE DOWN
Sounds great, thanks for the tip!
Bra inlägg i saken.
