If we're talking about derivatives, it might have to do with the fact that the US markets have American options whereas we have European options (CE/ PE)
The American style allows the option holder to exercise their right at any time as opposed to the European style where the option is exercised only upon expiration.
Crypto is a completely different beast altogether though.
