this is my first release since 2018, and -depending on when you first started following my journey-a different vibe and sound than anything you may have heard from me up to now. (P.s., if you’ve been rocking with me for any period of time, ILY). I couldn’t sleep one night last November, for reasons that can be gathered from this song’s lyrics...laid up with my guitar, the riff came first, and within 20 minutes I had Broken. One of those.
To me, Broken is as much a celebratory song as it is a love (or out-of-love) song. It’s about acknowledging the beauty in our flaws. The life in the cracks.
I have a long list of songs that may never see the light of day. 2019 was a year of questioning myself; paralysis via analysis. This year is different. Broken helped me wake up from a vicious cycle of my own design. I’m excited to put it out into the world...it’s the start of a new chapter. ⛵️
