If Sony lifts the restrictions on non PSN supported countries, then they might get an additional 50 players.

Live service games are like jobs. How many do most people have at the same time? 1 maybe 2. Nobody has 10 jobs at the same time. So if there are dozens of live services there just aren’t players to fill them. Companies want more live service, but players don’t.

Yeah. I like bazz and her assassin throwing knife playstyle but they made her look like an actual clown with bright purple lipstick and the worst looking shades I've ever seen in a videogame

They can't. Those cut scenes are waaaay too expensive to redo with new models. They probably already have a massive backlog of them ready for the ongoing story.
I hate the character designs in this game so much. I’m playing a space opera fps and you expect me to play the normal human fat kid in a christmas carol jacket just because I play support? What a waste of a great aesthetic.
I really want to see what the character designers for this game look like.
I am pretty flabbergasted by how bad almost all the designs are. A few of them are all right, but most of them I really question the thought process.

I think a big reason the open beta isnt getting players is because people dont see the point in trying it since they know they arent spending 40 on it later

@KidArkx multiversus was a free game at launch too. Why test a game out when you know you aren't spending money on it when it comes out.
I play a lot of open betas even if im not going to buy the game on release. For Concord I have to get paid to even dowload it. 😂

Sony is not gonna give them another year to fix the game. They already had 6 years to make the game. Sony might actually just close this studio a month after it drops.
They need to delay the game by 2 years and absolutely redesign all characters. The point of a hero shooter is that you WANT to play these characters, you WANT to be the cute, cool, hot, whatever character. Anyone that tells you a hero shooter doesnt need that whether it be devs or just some anti-eyegazer player, goes the way of having the game go dead immediately.
The characters need an identity and the vast majority of the ones in this game feel like they were designed by an AI, thats not what you want for a genre like this.
They won't delay this game. This studio will become a support studio or be given a chance (somehow) to make a single player game at best. Worst they will be shut down and allllllllllllllll that money was completely wasted (Just as I predicted).
at least 1/3 of the studio might me laid off if the studio is not closed down after this fail.

Gamers have learned the hard lessons over the years, this game sets off all the alarms. Pretty sure this game will be free at or days after launch.
Nah, Gamers have been prematurely killing games before release for years over the tiniest of reasons that don't even matter in the grand scheme of things... that's not to say some games don't deserve the shit that they get, but often times the failures we've seen are more attributed to the communities negativity rather than the games just flat out being bad.

It's one thing to play a game and voice an opinion based on the gameplay, features and content, but people are out here killing games because of political stances and other weird ass personal beliefs they might have. That's not to say that I don't think some of the stuff being put in games should be there, but I'm not going to go online and protest about it.
Ultimately, in an industry of inspiration and creativity.. the fans surely are closed minded.
So I still stand on the idea that if anything is going to kill gaming, it's the gamers who want everything that they don't like to fail. The gamers who don't feel "obligated" to inform and experience something for themselves before joining the herd of other "followers" and "subscribers" of whatever to voice their thoughts online about nonsensical non-issues.

I cant wait for it come out, just so it'll go away. They need to learn a lesson from all these live service copy cats. It's bad for business to make 10 slops hoping just 1 will stick. It's disgusting and it hurts them and it hurts us. If they don't learn, modern gaming needs to go away. Let there only be emulation and retro gaming. The industry has gotten so big, that it acts small.
Man, look with wide angle on gaming.
First we have a lot of history from retro to game which are like 10 years old and still great. Some remasters on sales are also not a bad deal (8$ for mass effect legendary edition for someone who have not play these games is imo a good deal), you have mid-budget/AA titles, you have independent games or games from smaller studios (which have publisher) and there is a lot to choose from.
So I believe it is only high (or ridiculously high) budget games that might have issues.
Gaming a a whole will be fine, as there always be a smaller studio which will be willing to take the risk. Which for us gamers means we will always have something to choose from (maybe less taking into consideration the player preferences if it comes to genres but still).
This is very obviously made for "modern gaming audience" and I think they managed really good to attract nearly all of the target audience to show up and support the game.
Maybe they thought this specific audience is a little bit bigger. Even if they delay it by one year or two years they targeting still the same audience, maybe this audience grow a little but the name and concept made it's impression.
And even if they create PvE Missions, it don't matter, you try to avoid the topic (be three little monkeys: Hear no Evil; See no Evil; Speak no Evil), but you say yourself "because they are so quirky and they are so interesting, cause they tell you they are interesting". Nearly nobody cares about the Story of he/she/it vacuum cleaner robots feelings. In the very best case they can manage to double the player numbers by delaying it, but in the end it just means a higher loss.
I think the best case is that the Developer and Publisher recognize that this "modern gaming audience" they try to pander so hard to is not as big as expected and they will be more successful making games for the normal audience, maybe a little ester egg here and there for the "modern gaming audience", but by excluding the normal audience and than call them names if they avoid the game they are clearly not the targeted audience for may not help in the long run.

As a VFX artist and animator I promise you that "Name_Final_Final_02" means that when they thought the animation was done they named it, "Name_Final" but then an issue was caught. So they fixed it and then the artist resaved the video as "Name_Final_Final" with a smile on their face - the work is finally done. Then someone caught another issue... so they fixed it. Then the artist is sitting there saving the rendered final frames once again... staring at the name. They aren't gonna put a third "_Final" on there... what are they, a clown? So they just hit save, and it auto-names it with a "_01" at the end. Finally... jobs done. They smile - pull out a picture in their wallet. It's a picture of the artist smiling with a thumbs up. They remember what it was like being that person. Then someone on the team catches something wrong... again. "Name_Final_Final_02"

I just don't understand why these videogame companies have such a misunderstanding of how they should market a game like this where they're like a mix of Destiny's Crucible and Overwatch, and the majority see it as Guardians of the Galaxy meets Overwatch, competing with Overwatch and other free-to-play games like Overwatch and XDefiant, selling their license for $40 per person? I don't know much about *Concord*, like is there a single player experience, or cutscenes or something more than it just being a Hero-esc shooter multiplayer only game? Like there are so many better options out there that are FREE, so why the hell would anyone spend $40 just to play the game? They should stick with what's working right now for games centered around multiplayer only and make it free-to-play and then make their money with skins and such, then little by little add new characters and a battle pass and such. I mean if it's just a multiplayer arena style game then you have to do what works. Either that or this game is just a tax write off or something. Lol

I was actually interested in the characters when the first trailer released. But when I found out it was a PvP hero shooter, my interest died. If this was a single player game, like Guardians of the Galaxy, I think I might have bought it.

You can make good overweight characters, Roadhog from overwatch looks cool and is even fatter than concord's guy.

What you also have to consider is that 100-200 of those are streamers and RUclipsrs trying to get early impressions of the game.
I think the question is: Will a delay even really help?
With interest so low, I think it's more likely that it gets cancelled, or shipped as is and they only deliver what they're obligated to.

The argument that it's "paid beta" doesn't work, because a paid beta is a perfect way to measure interest in a game, and with it inflated x5 with the buddy passes, it was still having miserably low numbers.
It's not any different from comparing it with early access games like Palworld, No Rest for the Wicked, or Hades 2, all of which eclipse the numbers of this garbage to this day. And these are single player games arguably in a far more incomplete state, than this multiplayer game, with which you already pretty much know what you are going to get.
It's weird, when the numbers are low I always get told "well it's a pre-order beta, you can't judge those numbers" but if a game has a huge playerbase for a pre-order beta it's "Look how many copies they already sold, the game is a massive success already!".

So for the most part, you can already tell if a game is gonna be successful from how Early Access is doing, since they are glorified paid betas.

@@Byrvurra it's not disingenuous. The point is that if the game is good enough, the paid beta being low will lead to interest on the free one and the game in general.
Good pre-order numbers are a guarantee of *initial* success from sales.
But not having high pre-order numbers doesn't mean the game will flop.
Realistically, how much of a budget extension would be needed for developing a decent story-driven, PvE campaign? Too much probably. Honestly, maybe their best chance at unflopping would be to pull off a Borderlands and visually revamp the game entirely. Keep the maps, the kits, and change the art direction and character models completely. Make it a new First Descendant if needs be, with hot chicks and bunny suits, why not. Or at least, find a good balance between funny characters and attractive characters. Right now there's too much opposition against this kind of unappealing cast.

The gameplay itself feels fine, if a little janky in the movement department, but damn, everytime I'm on the character select screen I grimace. Some of these characters are just that unappealing. Thats a bad sign.

I started to think this was going to be a 20 minute video of Luke talking while trying and failing to find a game until the very end. That would have been wild (still bad as it is). This game is DOA.
I disagree. I think the paid access last week was a fair metric to use. It showed how few people bothered to preorder and then share spare codes with friends to get them to play. I think those are very interesting numbers that paint a picture that very few people were interested in getting the game.
If they do choose to delay this game they will literally be “delaying the inevitable”

The fact they don’t fill/replace dropped players is absolutely wild to me.
Sony have made absolutely zero effort to make this game visible, if you aren't pretty plugged into the gaming scene you wouldn't even know a beta is taking place right now, a catastrophic failure considering hero shooters have an extremely casual player base. What they ought to have done was spend some money on ads, try to poach some COD players etc. Pinch some of that Valorant and Overwatch pool. The game is pretty decent, needs a little bit of touching up and quality of life improvements but other than that I would say it has a good foundation to make a successful hero shooter. Like if you aren't watching state of plays or lots of gaming content on youtube this game would not even be on your radar. Maybe Sony just don't believe in the product but I doubt that since the game has a lot of potential if it's tweaked a tad and made free to play.
The beta isn't even advertised on the PS store, you have to go to buy the game and then press start on a button that you would never ever ordinarily press start on. Sony really screwed Firewalk games here in my opinion.
There's also the fact that if your game is supposed to live off microtransactions like skins/cosmetics, the characters actually have to look good/interesting. And I just can't see a single person wanting to buy skins for any of these characters. They all look terrible.
JorRapter is wrong. Releasing it in 2025 or 2026 will just lose it even more money.
Two sides of the coin.
I get arguments from both sides: 1) we already spent money on this release it now, 2) the open player test did not go great in numbers so we should delay the game and improve it.
This differs from case to case.
I get your point if they delay the game try to fix things people were complaining about try to polish it a bit more this means time and money, even if it was just a 6 months to release the game before end of current fiscal year. And we have seem way too many examples when companies are not willing to do so, they just apply release it now fix it later mentality. Also from business perspective if the stats you gathered suggests the game might be a flop there is no reason to pump up more money into it. Push it out the door hope that you can recoup some of the cost and forget about it. And for this game I agree. Delay might not be an option or might make Sony lose more money.
On the other hand there is always a slim chance that if game was polished, and released in better state it could be better received meaning even if it will not be a success it could be less of a failure. But in this case I believe Sony will do the estimates and judge what are the chances imo they are tiny meaning not worth investing more in it.
I might be wrong this is just how I see the release situation for this game.
They literally are in a sense competing with Marvel Rivals..... A free competitive game. It's also Marvel, whose brand name is long established and has hard core fans from comics, films and shows that have spanned generations.
It's also competing with Overwatch, which IMO isn't that good anymore but is still free.
Whoever decided to charge money for this game should be fired and never consulted on anything gaming related ever again.
Also Marvel Rivals has been getting pretty good feedback and first impressions. Concord is going to die quickly. I see it going the way of suicide squad. Probably faster

Just wanted to say, I was playing it on PS5 today and queue times were like under 10 seconds. Maybe that means that it’s doing better on console than PC at least in beta.
This was recorded on Friday, looking at figures that peaked on a Thursday night at 2,388, so that COULD be a reason for numbers being...not particularly high.
It's now 11:30am here in the UK on a Saturday morning, so the Friday night numbers are in.
The peak is STILL 2,388. Its 24hr peak was Friday evening at 20:00 UTC with 1,666. More than 700 FEWER players on a Friday evening than midnight on a Thursday.
By the time this is released (whenever (or if) that might be), I will be shocked if they're still charging for it.
This honestly feels like a game that Sony just gave up midway on and just dumped it to get rid of it.
The trailer looked cool I was hoping for a single player story based game with the characters they were showing, but then I learned it was live service and immediately lose interest

To be fair I wasn't even aware that there was an open beta
Level gating game modes was one of the barriers I felt hurt the players who tried to play the game despite other issues. The game had a few modes that (I think) were gated to level 20+ and beginners were limited to a beginners only playlist which you lose access to when you are no longer considered a "beginner" so that made it REALLY hard to find matches.

To me like some not fully successful cloning experiment.
It’s a fun game, but needs the following:
More innovation in game modes - too generic at the moment (maybe even try a pvpve mode, ship battles, extraction modes, something to justify the price that’s truly different at a core level)
More compelling map design
A lot of hero customization options to the point of weapon variants.
A less convoluted competitive system
If these cannot be had then a Free to play model will at least give it a chance
They should make a list of you Modern Audience types and make a website. Wouldn’t take long. Ain’t more than a handful that buy games.

Honestly what they really should have done is marketed this at anyone who wants to play this like Overwatch 1.
Can they even delay it at this point? Since it comes out in a bit over a month, it must be going gold for physical production very soon.
At this point, the likely scenario is the game bombs, the studio shuts down with a bunch of people losing their job. Since they were supposed to get support from the Fairgame's studio in managing the live service part of concord, I guess the studio, or part of it, can be absorbed into Fairgames.

A game of this genre not only needs to be good, it has to do something exceptionally new and creative.
Otherwise, it will not pull people from other games.
Overwatch 2 is doing there test of the new hero this weekend too. Which kinda sucks for the free beta id assume that would take a lot off the people trying the beta?
The game just launched 5 hours ago. 660 people are playing on Steam. It's going to be a complete write-off for Sony.
The beta last week was public, anyone could play it. I have NOT (and will not) pre-ordered the game and I played it....

Concord is one of those game that I would play here and there if it was free but I’m not spending $40 when Marvel Rivals is coming soon.

So right now the concord beta on steam has 1401 players. Deadlock, Valve's unreleased game in closed beta has 1813 🙄
I think it's fu'ny that Sony mad Marathon a live service game at a time when Microsoft acquired CoD and 8s actively ruining Halo and Sony had the biggest opportunity to just take the lead on campaign and multi-player shooters.
these companies are all so out of touch... its insane
the theory of this getting pushed back to give it another chance is fascinating. I cant think of another game that did that.
But will pushing the game back save it? Personally I don't think so. This isn't exactly a game people are anticipating. I don't see how delaying it will garner more interest when there isn't any to begin with.

ya know i got into the free beta because I was KINDA interested. But when the PSN login came on needing me to make an account... i closed out the game and moved on. there are pple who don't care about a game and will still try it but if they don't care, the slightest issue preventing them from playing will remove any urge to play it. so I could have been shocked and amazed but I just don't care

I tried it out. Gun play is good, movement is a bit sluggish. There's some major gripes I have with the game tbh. For starter roles don't feel impactful so why even have them? Also everytime you die it takes you to the character section screen? Like why lol. I don't know, I could see how maybe it could have had potential but I think it needed to be f2p and maybe a few more months in the oven. Pretty sure it will flop but hey I hope I am proven wrong. I am also not a hater of the aesthetic, some like retro futuristic scifi is pretty neat.
I watch videos in 2x speed. The Jim Ryan impression is good enough for a role as a voice actor in a game. Idk about 1x speed but put it 2x.
Coming from fast paced first person shooter. Concord looks great and feels very odd. Very slow, in the air even tied. I think it would be more appealing if they would increase the movement speed a little bit and the air control more predictable. Gunplay is ok but sometimes I need ages to reload. Tuning those things would make the game so much better imho.
