I burnt the last AW4 my XJ had i bought it with black trans oil so i know it was going soon but damn it didnt go easy those are built tough and mixed with the 4.0 no wonder so many of these are still on the road. I got a used one in GREAT condition and shifts so smooth like theres butter in the trans lol im putting a gauge on it soon
I was just wondering if the size of the body of the brass T piece could affect the readings on the gauge. Hot air coming through the rad could warm the brass and give an incorrect signal..... just a thought.
@@OutJeeping I got one of those cheep three core radiator and it started leaking pretty bad. I replaced it with a two core aluminum radiator from Cold Case and it has been fine since. The inside cooling tubes on a Cold Case radiator are much larger than a three core one.
Would definitely put it on the hot line that way you know the temp coming out of trans
Every time I heard "basically " I drank I am drunk now basically.
One of the best mods you can do on any Jeep 4.0

Nice job Austin.I have been wanting to do this for quite a while but havent got around to it.
What temps have you seen wheelin on a hot summer day?
Around 165 degrees Fahrenheit from the return line after the trans cooler.
What's your exhaust setup? Sounds great!
Flowmaster super 44, 2.25" exhaust with no cats.
Great tips man!!!
Great work
What size are the barbed ends ?

Heat transfer from the trans fluid through convection will far outtake any outside temperatures.
So 2 years later how is the gage holding up? Debating between glowshift and autometer
Well I sold the jeep 6 months ago but it was always working great for me, no issues at all. They are both good companies to choose from.
I personally would have put it on the hot side coming from the Trans, to see how hot it is getting, rather than see how effective the cooler is
I may swap it over in the future
@@OutJeeping say screw it and put a second one in and watch both sides lol
@@artardFTW Lmao, was also thinking that too
@@OutJeeping get a double Guage pod for the A Pilar and stick them both up there
@@artardFTW I was thinking about the gauge pod for the pillar but not sure how I feel about it.
Do you have a link to the tee fitting you bought
Yes, I just updated the description with all of the fittings used.
You should make a video on how to turbo your xj haha
Jeep Squad thats awesome ive seen some banks turbos but those are for HOs (highly over rated) lol but still i only gotta renix
Ya
Why did you remove your transmission cooler?
I did not remove my trans cooler...
How it does when wheeling ?
It gets a little warm but I haven't seen it get over 175ish while wheeling on a hot day.
What gauge wire did you use?
I used 14 gauge wire which is plenty for this application, you could get away with 16 gauge as well.
What radiator?
Cheap no name brand all aluminum 3 row radiator off of eBay.
