    So I wrote in my Lumi II today for a trial I’m finishing up. I was greatly impressed with this writer. No adjustment or learning period needed. I actually wrote better and smoother. My numbers were easier to write. It’s a subtle difference, but you can feel the difference once you see your writing translate better. I’m really glad I upgraded!

    After two months of writing on the Luminex II, I have to say it is a huge improvement on my Diamante. I stated in the video it wasn't a big difference, but after writing on this, I've noticed quite a difference in my writing. I feel I'm writing faster and more accurate. Can't recommend this machine enough. In my opinion, it's the best steno machine ever made.

    Louis, great video. I use a Luminex I and I didn't realise how different the Luminex II looks. It's better looking for sure. Like you, I had barely any learning curve on the Luminex. Coming from a Wave, the touch on the Luminex feels really light. My speed improved immediately. Maybe I'll upgrade when the Luminex III comes out, or whatever the replacement is for the Luminex.

      That is so funny! You’re right, it doesn’t say anywhere how to turn it on. I just kind of guessed when I first got it because the power button used to be in the same place. 😂

    Anybody hear of any rumors of a Luminex III coming out, before I sink the hard-earned $$$ into the II?

    How is the audio? For some reason, I've always had audio issues on the Diamonte. (You just hear static) despite adjustments.

    • @loumach777
      @loumach777  2 года назад

      The audio depends on the mic you use. I currently use a Martel Electronics battery powered microphone. It picks up really good sound. It’s not as good as my Martel USB microphone on my laptop, but it’s a great backup when my laptop decides to freeze or crash.

    Was the Dictionary pre- added? It seems like you just took it out of the box and wrote and it translates instantly.

      I loaded my dictionary. I didn’t include that part in the video.

    Thank you for your video. I'm searching videos to see if anyone can demonstrate how to adjust the height of the number bar. My new Luminex II number bar is lower than the regular keys and I'm used to the number bar being the same height. It's significantly throwing off my writing.

    • @loumach777
      @loumach777  2 года назад

      You're welcome. I believe that's an adjustment Stenograph has to make to your number bar. As far as I know, you can only adjust the depth of the keystrokes and the firmness of the touch.

    Can you hook up more than one mic through a splitter cord or something? One for the bench and one for the open courtroom? Just curious.

    • @loumach777
      @loumach777  9 месяцев назад

      Since it's a standard 3.5mm plug, you can plug anything into it with a splitter. Never tried it, but seems like it would work. Since it's my backup audio, I use a mic from Martel Electronics that picks up really well and doesn't need a battery. martelelectronics.com/luminex-steno-writer-microphone-ultimate-edition-kit-no-battery-only-from-martel/

      I have to tell you that I love it even more now. It’s changed the way I work. So much less stress on my hands and arms. I think my review was a little in the middle but now that I’ve used it for a longer period, I recommend it even more. It never fails or errors out. Highly recommended. Best machine ever, and I’ve tried them all. 👍🏻

    If someone was just starting out going to school, would it be silly to start with a machine like this, or would you recommend it if someone had funds available to purchase it? I know that may seem like a silly question, but felt the need to ask a professional opinion on it.

    • @loumach777
      @loumach777  4 года назад

      mouse41686 Not a silly question at all. I had those same questions when I started school, except we didn’t have RUclips or social media to ask questions. Lol. I would suggest renting or buying the student model, Luminex CSE or Wave. You can buy or rent them. And then you can either trade it in or resell it and buy a professional model when you’re done with school. The student version will handle everything you need for school.

    Would you sell your old one? If you have it still? And the luminex before this one is it good to start off if finished the state exam and beginning to go in field or should I just get the luminex 2? Thanks

    • @loumach777
      @loumach777  4 года назад

      Sold my old machine already. A Luminex is a great machine to start off with. Even a Diamanté would be okay. I wouldn’t go older than Diamanté though. The touch won’t be the same.

    === Can't computers now write what you say? ===

    • @loumach777
      @loumach777  7 месяцев назад +1

      Great question and one that's asked frequently. Long story short, you need someone to verify what is being said at the time it's said and then certify that it's correct. Its impossible to do that after the fact when the witness is gone. People sometimes mumble or aren't clear or there's noise, various issues, that affect when a recording is made. Having someone there to interrupt and stop the testimony and clarify is imperative. But, generally, people want to say "just record"....that is, until it affects them or someone they know with jail time in a criminal case or losing a lot of money or rights in a civil lawsuit. So much more I could say, but hope that, generally, answers your question.
