I've been scouring RUclips for helpful videos on how to assess a private well accurately / properly to determine how to design your irrigation system. Does anyone have suggestions or videos that explain the 101 of designing a system off a private well??

Turn on water first, then slide the bucket under.

would 5 gallons per minute and 60PSI be enough to drill a 2" x 30' PVC shallow well in a sandy part of central Florida. It's remote and I need to go 12v and keep to a budget. Saw a guy do it on RUclips and wonder if really possible. I just need to push up some sand and clay as I push the pipe down.

Does it matter if someone is washing or showering at the moment we're filling the bucket?

How can I do this test? My hose bib is to low for a 5 gallon bucket to fit

Connect a hose to the bib

I would imagine the pressure build up from the summer heat would throw off the measurement if only one gallon was done.

that's only if you have a one-way flow valve at your water meter or you have some weird plumbing situation.

This is actually a dumb way to measure flow rate because a hose bib is full of restrictions and most likely is not even the same size as the pipe you plan to use. There has to be another way to calculate gpm. Whats the gpm if the psi is 80 and the pipe size is 1" ?? 21gpm??

J M the friction loss in a hose bib is doesn’t affect the Gpm . Not a ton of restrictions . Look up friction loss for a faucet

@@bladesofglorylandscapingll265 These standard hose bibs often have a 5/16"-3/8" internal hole. They suck azz.

@@bladesofglorylandscapingll265 I just measured two of my hose bibs. Water pressure is 60 PSI at the meter. Both have standard hose connection fitting sizes (~5/8" nominal I.D.). 1 hose bib uses full port 3/8" ball valve, and the other uses close-enough-to-full-port 3/4" ball valve. Water meter is 3/4" nominal.
      11 seconds for 4 gallons with 3/8, and 7 seconds with 3/4.
We're looking at ~34 GPM at the 3/4" hose bib, and ~20GPM at the 3/8" hose bib.
Both hose bibs are more than 5 elbows and 160 lineal feet from the water meter, through 1 1/4" PVC.

You could remove the bib, attach a male hose adapter, and hook up a hose, the turn the water back on
