These video courses are a unique resource for adapting Indian Classical Music to the guitar. The knowledge I am able to present here is largely thanks to my Gurus Roopa Panesar and Shakir Khan who both play sitar. They have provided much of the raw material and I have used my experience as a guitarist, teacher and sitar student to develop the techniques and stylistic choices to suit this beautiful and powerful style of playing.

This is really solid advice. Quite a few years ago I bought a machine called a Radel Taal Mala. Which is a pretty primitive electronic indian drum machine that reproduces tabla samples.
Of course nowadays there are variety of Table Riyaz apps available for smart phone.
Playing with a "strict machine" really helped me to straighten out some of my own timing issues.
It's important to explain to people that when you say metronome - you mean an electronic metronome with a count. Not just an old fashioned ticking metronome which only produces a beat. That's been the big advantage for me of having a machine that will loop on an 8, 16 or 32 beat. Or 6, 12 of course. My Radel Taal Mala still gets plenty of use. It was a sound investment.

Yes I remember I had the first digital radle tabla machine where you could create your own rhythms as well. But the old analogue ones used to last forever. Thank god the phones have got these apps now its much easier to practice effectively. 🙌
