I Wanna Dance with Somebody is an upcoming American biographical musical drama film based on the life of American pop icon Whitney Houston. The film is directed by Kasi Lemmons and written by Anthony McCarten, with Houston's former record producer Clive Davis also serving as a producer on the film. It stars Naomi Ackie as Houston and Stanley Tucci as Davis, alongside Ashton Sanders, Tamara Tunie, Nafessa Williams, and Clarke Peters in supporting roles.
I Wanna Dance with Somebody is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 21, 2022, by Sony Pictures Releasing.

The Lady that is playing Nippy... Looks more like Heather Headley than Whitney
Naomi Ackie has been in some "Dr Who" episodes (not Star Wars). She looks nothing like Whitney and she is even lip syncing to Whitney's songs in the movie. There have been several bip-pics of Whitney and not just documentaries. Naomi looks the least like Whitney of all the bio-pics. Hollywood, is it really necessary to choose an Engliah actor for every leading role (in 90% of movies released over last 20 years) even if there are more appropriate American actors available (Kat Graham?)
⭐⭐⭐⭐ I totally agree this film looks and sounds sugar/coded not my cup of tea. I was a loyal fan of Whitney Houston from the beginning till the end, of her unfortunate demised. However, they could have use that lovely signer named " GLENNIS GRACE, which undoubtedly sounds like our Whitney, and she's beautiful like our Whitney was. Just saying...
People should never go into Biopics expecting near 100% accuracy, that's what documentaries are for :)

Ironically Angela Bassett actually directed a fictional version of Whitney, it was a tv movie.
Well what we do know now is Bobby Brown was kicked out of his group, the New Edition, in the mid 80’s for drugs and alcohol abuse long before he met Whitney. Apparently was already dabbling in drugs and partying but when she met hard core partier Bobby Brown it was a recipe for disaster for both of them.

I’ve been told the brilliant young actress Moses Ingram quit before production started because Houston’s family was getting their way in watering down Whitney’s relationship with Robyn Crawford.
