I prefer AirBnB instead of motels because I want a quiet environment for sleeping...not having a party start in the room above at midnight as can occur in moteles.
I've stayed in a lot of hotels. I have never once had a "party start in the middle of the night" lol don't know which ones you stay at but that sounds like BS to me. Of course that can happen, but I don't think that happens as much you want it to.
@@bigamigo4863 Maybe you commented on the wrong video Big Amigo...I didn't talk about party's starting in the middle of the night and I actually was in favour of the party ban. This video is educational in talking about how tough it is start start and maintain an STR....thanks again for the comment and for tuning in to yet another one of my videos. I appreciate the comments as well 😀
Kelowna's tourism industry was not built on the back of short term rentals, considering 80% of the STR in Kelowna did not exist 10 years ago. I understand a lot of people who are financially benefitting from this are upset....but to sit here and say Kelowna will suffer without them is asinine. Born and raised in Kelowna for 40+ years, there will always be tourists who want to drink wine, golf, ski, hike, play on the water lol this won't stop them. Not mention with the last 4 years more and more people are moving here who used to just visit, working from home etc. has changed the landscape that way. It's just to funny to me the fear mongering that this will somehow wreak havoc, this is a inconvenience to some, that's all. If you want the average person to feel sorry for a very lucky person who owns more than 1 property and on top of that rake in cash from it you're living in an alternate reality to most. People who own STR will ALWAYS find renters, there is a HUGE need to LTR's - so if STR's are limited these people will still rent out their properties with EASE. Boo Hoo.
You are assuming that the market will go back to what it was 10 years ago pre STRs, my assertion is that it won't, at least not right away. What happens when you remove supply of anything from a market? Prices increase and that is exactly what is going to happen in Kelowna and the surrounding areas, not acknowledging that is a mistake. It's not about wreaking havoc, it is about the government doing what's right by the consumer as well as by the people providing a service to that consumer, something that seems lost on those that are in favour of these restrictions. Thank you for the comment and for tuning into the channel.

I think there are a lot of people that would agree with you
