I have been watching your videos all through my highschool years. And I have been waiting 5 years to write this message: Last year I was rejected from all medical schools. And guess what ! This year I got accepted by the medical school of my first choice! When I didn't get in last year I was devastated, I didn't have the courage to keep watching medical vlogs anymore, but here I am🥰.
I know that it is just the beginning, but THANK YOU. Even though you might not realize it, your chanel has been a HUGE part of this journey. I have been inspired so many times by what you film, especially how you film your videos, and also the positive energy you give off!

I had literal CHILLS for you. I'm going into my second year of medical school at DAL and this will mark my 11th year of university *mind blown*. So seeing you, after all these years, make it to the finish line is beyond amazing. I can only imagine how that feels! Your videos got me through my masters, my MCAT studies, and now med school. What i love about your channel is that you're humble. You aren't sitting on any high horse as as a doctor. There are a lot of people who are doctors and they just see themselves being much higher then anyone else. I appreciate doctors and the intelligence it takes to become one. But you are so appreciative of your own family members and grateful. Its nice to see.
As a lifelong rheumatology patient (with idopathic juvenile arthritis with the added bonus of Lupus as I got older!) I can tell you without a doubt the world needs more doctors in this speciality who are like you! Congratulations! I've been intrigued and enjoyed watching your side of the journey, having been on the other side of the exam table for so long. It gives me a new appreciation for my awesome rheumatologist! Your patients will be so lucky to have you.

as a Navy wife, i've lived in a few places... my last 2 Rheumatologists, told me their specialty has about 2200 in the US. the size of a large high school. i'm family practice/palliative care myself, but truly appreciate more coming into Rheum. stay well!
@@SisterCaliGal yup. Incredibly small amount. Average wait for a first visit last i saw any data on it here was over 6 months average. We need more in the field for sure!

She had to edit and upload the video which can a take a while, so we technically didn’t find out before Mark and her parents. They were definitely informed before us. It was kind of her to show us her raw reaction though and include us in such a special moment. ☺️

As a pharmacy student I loved watching her videos as she was learning new things about medicine. I'm 7 years in, and it's crazy thinking back on where we were at when we started! This is why I love being a mentor for the newbies (pharmacy or medicine) for the wealth of knowledge I've gained from practical experience and to be a resource for their crazy questions

I as a Paramedic student hearing when I passed was the most emotional thing in my life at that time! I actually broke down in tears. It took weeks to find out just in the start of the 2,000's. It is a 2 year year program now. A 1 year cramed year program at that time is broken up into a 2 year program! I even still worked full time on the ambulance and at the same location I took the course and did my ambulance clinicals. I was called the black cloud A-EMT and then Black Cloud Medic! It was in my 20's and would never trade careers! Only thing is you create a massive Insomnia problem with that field in 24 hr shifts! I would love to be able to say I could do this! I do know that if I started the schooling I would never give up whatsoever! I then tagged on the fire services field as a Former Fire Chief after loads of training in the Fire services! I am very ambitious and hard headed! Your smile and demanour will most likely typically deasculate any patients in a mental crisis or violent situations! Congratulations to you and your smile! I am super proud and excited for you and your soon to be soley your patients! God bless!

You mentioned how being a patient is different. Boy is it! I would recommend “When Breath Becomes Air”- A true story by neurosurgeon Paul Kalanithi. It gives his perspective of being a Dr as well as a patient. Congratulations!
