Farmers have tiled their fields to an extreme since this dam was built and since the last major flood in the 1960s. How much of this is due to all the tiling? Do studies of the dam take this in to account when they concluded the dam is fine (I don't see how they could)? Is tiling even regulated in the state? And yes, I'm sure I'm going to get all kinds of comments from farmers about how I don't know the first thing about farming....
The most important takeaway is that this damn is not holding back a large pool of water. That's because the entire pool has been filled up with sediment aka dirt. That means no tidal wave if this damn collapses.

Rapidan Dam has been having issues that needed resolved...It is a old dam that need repaired or removed
increased runoff and lack of infiltration is very real
Using drones can give them a good idea about the condition of the dam abutment.

Why weren’t the 2 east wood gates open? Two out of 7 gates closed seems a rather large error!
They took a Crain in 93 to open them why not now
These Guys NEED to be FIRED . Why is there no Spill WAY for this dam ????? I guess Mother Nature decided to make her own at no cost
Mr Thilges is doing an excellent job of explaining what is going on with the dam !
