@TheSelfEspresso the talking at the beginning works brilliantly in conjunction with the hesitant and struggling way she sings the first few sentences. She's meant to be finding her voice
im annoyed that the drummer was pushing the tempo so hard. it picked up speed in the middle and didnt give her the quality she deserves. Natalie is RIDICULOUS. bomb.
Clevink, I think to talk about hand gestures and facial expressions is redundant, I think what you're really criticising is her internal connection to the song. Her vocal is incredible, the technique this girl has with her voice is breath-taking, but I agree that the connection feels slightly forced. Amazing, amazing vocalist, and she's good at portraying what the song is about, but I think that if she allowed herself to connect fully with the character's situation this would be mesmerising. x
@hibailey I have to say that I think she's WAY better than Idina. She can actually hit all the notes she tries to sing, and she hasn't busted her voice.
@elliejanexo I agree. I feel like in the older version there's a vulnerability which makes her performance so much more effective. Maybe she's trying to force the acting a bit?
2:45 = I love the new riff here. I think Nat is trading a little bit of flexibility for more power. In general, I like it. Especially since soon she'll have more power, more range and more flexibility than before...it's almost scary to think =)
Her acting is great, but check out the Tituss Burgess version to see a master. Her singing beats his for subtlety, but I think he performance is overall way more amazing. Only he has managed to make me cry yet with this song. :-)
Every morning I listen to this song, it helps me get through the day :) thanks Natalie, for being you!
beautiful song with a beautiful performance...
This is the song that made me fall in love with her. She's incredible!
THIS GIRL. My God, this girl...
The second "I" at the end. amazing.
This is such an incredible song! I'm completely obsessed with it at the moment and Natalie is flawless as always :)
