In addition to changing the art style and gameplay they also fundamentally altered the canon. There’s aspects of 4’s story I really liked, but I now realize that a lot of it simply doesn’t mesh with what Bungie established. Forerunners were definitively ancient humans in Bungie’s canon, and Rampancy went by the Marathon definition.
@@shreksnow1918 I think halo 4 was supposed to be a separate timeline because the story it tells is pretty underrated but I feel like they wanted to make it a non-canon sequel
In retrospect it was both a radically safe and at the same time risky direction. Its so corporate but its nothing like the games that came before it. Imo, it was just such a braindead direction.
Halo 4 and Call Of Duty black ops 2 were an end of an era for the golden age of gaming even though both had an art style change I didnt like as a kid but now grown to appreciate.
2:52 Interesting that the needler here seems to be using the Halo 5 model, but in the final game it's just a recolor of the Halo Reach model. Also to my knowledge the Stasis field and rifle are still in somewhat usable state in Halo 4, they just need to be modded in.
I had a lot of fun with Halo 4. Hundreds of hours on 360. I'm glad the release version of the game was as good as it was considering the state of these pre-releases. Reach's Forge was still better especially in terms of community engagement but there were still some nice H4 custom maps. I can remember a few of them such as the huge space themed map, and a few MLG style arena maps. T'was good times
Before i go on. You still did a pretty good job with this video. However you really need to do a more extensive analysis on the game's development, at some point. Sadly there's been little documentation of what is known. Which sucks, because what there is paints a rather tragic picture. That highlights the still prevalent issues with the studios' leadership. That's only starting to become well known now, as an result of more employees speaking out about it. The biggest source of direct information about 4's development actually comes from an interview with the game's composer. While he mainly goes on about his work. Much of what he says still applies to the art-game design team's, as well. The composer outright states in the interview. That he wanted the score to remain faithful to bungies work, and already composed a'lot of the score with that direction in mind. He was however forced to scrap all of it, and start over from scratch, as a result of the exec's from both 343-Microsoft. Mandating for the soundtrack to be in their words "less like halo". While that interview on it's own. Does not paint a good look for 4's. It get's worse when you get to one of the vidocs made for 4. It's brief, but there's footage showing how the game looked back in 2010. It's surprisingly finished, and it show's. That yes the team indeed wanted to stay true to bungie's vision, and that the final direction. Was a result of the team having to essentially nearly remake the game from scratch. Just to please people who are not a part of, and should not dictate on how the creative talent should be making their game. i.imgur.com/6257B.jpg i.gifer.com/DEZu.gif Unfortunately i cant find the composer interview, at the moment, but you can find it yourself later. Obviously you can find more signs of the game's mid development reboot. In the concept art, and from leftovers in the midnight build. It's just that the two i went over above are the most blatant examples.
@slav4335 I didn’t want to reply to any comments on this cause i don’t wanna start an argument, but idk what you mean by the “ACK” part. Can you explain that?
The beginning of the end. The fall from grace. The herald of all that is trash halo games post bungie. May their company fail. May their executives and managers go bankrupt. May they never work in video games again lest they ruin another IP.
Great videos and channel so far! Keep this up. Would love to collaborate with you on some of this and share some of our own findings. Do you have discord, Twitter or Bluesky?
halo 4 is most interesting to me just because of how much everything changed and the weird direction 343 took things

@@shreksnow1918 rampancy wasnt changed in 4 it pretty much is the og version with a mix of what bungie wrote during the og trilogy.

This is a good one. Keep the quality Halo content flowing!
Just a question - didn't you get any copyright claims for use of "Arrival" from Halo 4 OST?
Claim yes -- but not a strike. It says the author allows the use of the song on RUclips videos and it just gave me a heads up saying I can keep it in!
@PounderMcNasty Oh, cool. Keep it up man. 🙌
You should do one on 5, i always wondered how that game was made
might not be able to because those resources aren't really as tied to all the halos before bc no mcc version
Bro is cooking, we always need more halo content
@@Halo47143 Thanks! Halo 3 up next.
Calling Halo 4 a classic is a bold move when its the second worst game in the series
nah, it is a classic
*1st. At least 5's multiplayer was actually fun.
@MarcelineRaccoon a classic to some, but still pretty much the worst halo aside from halo 5.
@@RyleyStorm halo 4 was pretty fun actually, and i did like the story. To me one of the worst is CE, and I grew up playing it
