One of my all time favourite films and this scene along with the 'falling in the stream' Scene will be immortal to me always, what a voice and what a beautiful woman Doris was inside and out
I love this movie! I'm so thankful my mom is a big Doris Day fan. She's the one that introduced me to this sweet movie. I just introduced my daughters to it.
One look at Doris Day in her lovely pink gown, and you can certainly understand Colonel Potter's reminiscence in "M*A*S*H", when he told Hawkeye and B.J. about how he fell in love with Doris when he saw her at a nightclub, singing with Les Brown and his Band of Renown. "Sometimes I feel guilty that Mildred doesn't know", he said. "But then I always remember: Doris doesn't know, either."
Doris Day at that age had an incredible figure from being a trained ballet dancer... Watching her move in different scenes of this film... it is easy to see why the men were falling at her feet in real life. In some ways it was tragic..... they never left her alone.... that was probably why she liked acting with Rock Hudson so much.
@0:42 - Cupid’s Arrow has hit Bill. 😂😂😂 Always loved this scene. After the “disappointment” at drawing the short straw, Bill ended up with the belle of the ball - not Danny. 😉 Not shown here but later on he’s practically beaming when the other men at the ball mention the fact that Calamity has been hiding “secret weapons”. Amazing to realise exactly what they had under their noses the whole time but because she was such a tough talking tomboy, no body knew.
Doris Day Was Considered As Maria In The Sound Of Music With William Wyler Directing. Julie Andrews Was An Equal Choice ! It's Too Bad These 2 Ladies Never Worked Together ! How They Could Have Complemented One Another !
I has no idea all these years that Miss Ellies husband Clayton Farwell was him! I was so young when Dallas was on. He is next level handsome. DAMN......and Aca Buchanon from One Life to Live😂😂😂 he was a fox, too!!!😂😂❤
ah I agree! I feel like they didnt do Doris Day quite enough justice with that choice... if it didnt have the gauze around her shoulders it would have looked a bit nicer in my opinion, and a little less over the top for her
one of my biggest pet peeves of all time with this movie is the fact that they didnt switch the dresses. Like Doris is a pink toned blonde with blue eyes. PUT HER IN THE BLUE DRESS. Katie is a brunette with tanned skin, she would look gorgeous in a satin pink dress, or that yellow dress Calam gets all muddy. Think of how great Belle looks in pink and yellow, in comparrison to cinderella. The costumers missed an oppurtunity SO HARD in this scene.
My 1 minute of fame with Doris Day. In 1976 I worked in the sales department for the magazine and paperback book wholesaler of Los Angeles: Sunset News, later ARA services. Occasionally, celebrities would stop by with their agent, after getting their “tell all” biographies published. “Doris Day: Her Own Story” was just out and she and her agent came by for a promotional effort. After her agent spoke, he opened up the floor for any questions by the sales staff and execs. I was upset that no one, including myself, asked any questions or had any comments. I think most were awestruck and shy at her celebrity status and presence. The agent said something like…”Well ok, get in a line and Ms. Day will autograph a copy of her book for you.” Since I was so disappointed at our silence, I got at the end of the line, thinking that I could ask or say something to her. When it was my turn..I asked her, “Do you have any desire to get back into films?” She stopped signing her autograph on my copy and looked right into my eyes and said, “No when I was doing the movies, I was always asking questions like…’ Did I say that line right? Do I look ok? Is my makeup on right?’ It was always I, I, I. Now I have a chance to do something for others.” I understood what she meant and just said..”Good” 35 years later, I wrote to her and mentioned our meeting and what you just read of our words to each other. She replied by sending, to me, an autographed color picture of herself. I first saw her on TV in “Calamity Jane” and would play “Secret Love” on my mom’s piano. I was about 12 years old then.
Bill's face is absolutely priceless when see Calamity!!
Oh yeah most definitely priceless with his mouth hanging open like that😆
Now that I think about it he looked kinda annoyed that he got stuck with her until he really looked at her🤣🤣
Wasn't Doris Day just the most gorgeous, scrumptious thing ever in this scene? Love this movie!
I was beyond excited to ever see her on the big screen! She was probably one of the most Beautiful Women ever!!!
They don't make them like that any more. What a talent!
I love the ending when the guy says I don't know what life will be like with that wild cat, but it sure ain't gonna be dull.

Love Bills reaction to Calam in this scene. Priceless 🤣 He was certainly the right man for her. Loved the ending 😊❤ my ultimate favourite movie !
Doris Day was probably most amazing most loving and most beautiful woman ever to entertain us all!!
I love this movie! I'm so thankful my mom is a big Doris Day fan. She's the one that introduced me to this sweet movie. I just introduced my daughters to it.

I do wish someone would upload the whole movie here on RUclips
Doris Day was so beautiful ❤️
I love these kinds of makeovers! He sees her now as a “woman” as opposed to a “bro”.
Love this film.
Great when he realizes -' fab part of the film -' I love when she falls in the mud too 😄😄
Love this scene! I love pink!
An impressive and dynamic performance from Day at 31.
The look on his was priceless 🤣🤣🤣
This could probably be the first makeover scene where a tomboyish woman display her natural beauty.

Bill looks shock and stunnd of seeing camity.
Until I saw this, the only other movie musicals I’ve seen were the Wizard of Oz & Grease.
I has no idea all these years that Miss Ellies husband Clayton Farwell was him! I was so young when Dallas was on. He is next level handsome. DAMN......and Aca Buchanon from One Life to Live😂😂😂 he was a fox, too!!!😂😂❤
Can't believe Asa Buchanan didn't want to dance with Calamity!
Word, with his fine self!😂😂😂 Calamity had taste❤
god I hate danny so much, everytime I watch that movie I forget how much of an awful creep he is I HATE that jane got stuck with him screw that guy
That’s not a deleted scene. It’s in the movie
Unpopular opinion: I think Katey's dress is much prettier than Calamity's
ah I agree! I feel like they didnt do Doris Day quite enough justice with that choice... if it didnt have the gauze around her shoulders it would have looked a bit nicer in my opinion, and a little less over the top for her
I agree with you ☺️
She still had to be calamity😂. She couldn't glow up to Cinderella
Que linda película quisiera estuviera en español

I liked her out of the dress and being herself
This ain’t Deadwood.
They wouldn't be able to make movies like this nowadays. It would either be too racist or too right wing, just not woke enough for modern Hollyweird
Not all of it but some parts are a bit iffy
