From Sunday 1st September, Newport Bus will operate this service. The 36 was operated from Ross on Wye Depot until the powers that be, decided to close the depot down in 2021. The Milkwall Outstation is really not fit, for purpose. Down to cost cutting. When the Cinderford Depot plan fell through. Wouldn't be surprised if it not closed soon and all Dean services chucked in. Anyway this run was a nice run to do, interworked with the 34. Some drivers feared the Buckholt, between St John Chapel and Welsh Newton Cross. Llancloudy Hill tested brakes and power on a bus.

To be fair, other drivers were afraid of meeting the bus on the Buckholt!!

The country section of this route is beautiful, and I don't recall another that's so consistently steep!

When I saw what sort of area your journey today is covering I knew that I particularly wanted to have a look because my parents used to live down in Hereford many years ago and it's also one area where I don't really think you have done yet.

Also just to let you know this route is run by Coleford Depot rather than the Gloucester Depot :)

I guess Coleford depot has been closed down already? 🤔

@@EurasiaTransportExplorer nah Coleford Depot is still open. Most of the Forest of Dean routes are run by Coleford. Except a few which are run by Gloucester

Thank you for your information. I think is 36 is one of the route runs by Gloucester depot. As this vehicle should be one of their’s.

Hereford looks like a place where there might be several more good bus journeys to be had.
In terms of routes going either to or from the City, because it's a very beautiful wee city and it's still regarded as part of the West Midlands.
As is Counties like Shropshire and Worcestershire. Herefordshire is very much part of the West Midlands and as you will obviously be aware is also very close to Wales.

At the 50-sec mark, there is a black Volvo parked in a backyard. The number plate indicates that it was fist registered in 2007 in Peterborough - which is a long way from Monmouth! And the last 2 random letters - BJ - were one of two registration codes for the (old) East Suffolk motor registry, based in Ipswich, the other being RT.

Very narrow road for the bus driver to negotiate.
This is amply demonstrated when he has to stop or crawl past the lorry.
