Sim City Snes - Why Plane Crashes Occurs

There are only two ways for the plane crash disaster to occur in Sim City. One is to manually select the option from the disaster menu. The other is when the helicopter and the plane flies into each other, or more accurately, when the helicopter and the center of the plane hits each other, as demonstrated in this video.

Yeah, that fucking sound when that screen appears, it was terrifying! Especially when the nuclear plant blew up, and that weird guy limps in with a broken leg and all bandaged. I had to stop playing for a couple of days.

I always thought it was funny when that happened. These Sims don't know how to fly a plane and beeline straight for the nearest helicopter.

@w7alsaSKA what is interesting about that is, that the ship really hits tunnels (i think the power cables also do something (dont know anymore). but if u think: tunnels are digged below the water so no ship ever touches one. :D

Now I'm mad though! Anyone who knows anything about Sim City for the SNES knows that you don't need roads. That makes the helicopter completely useless. Eff that local radio chopper!

And you don't even need to supply power to the airport, thus no planes ever take off from it. Your Commercial district will still be happy and no complaints from them to build an airport. Also, if you are short on land, then you can intentionally crash an airplane into the airport (manually trigger the disaster as soon as a plane is taking off). This will burn most of the airport, and as long as the single tile which flashes the lightning bolt icon is remaining, then the rest can be bulldozed and other zones built on top. Just be careful not to accidentally supply electricity to it.

You build the airport and seaport and never hook them up with power. They still pollute as normal but the plane and chopper never take off. Industry and Commercial still recognize the requirement of them being built.

Latest city I built, helicopter and plane both took off at the same time, almost immediately slammed into each other and ended up blowing up the ENTIRE AIRPORT! And because this game's airports are buggy, some of the fire appeared far west of the crash site, taking out other buildings for half a block!
