- On today's Los Angeles day trip, we went to Cal Poly Pomona. We walk around the campus and try our best to describe and compare what the campus look like. Hopefully this guided non-guided campus tour / campus walk helps you decide what campus you want to go to or reminisce your time on this campus!

Did you ever hear about the famous pointy building??
Yes, we know The Pointy Building. We see it from all the freeways around. I was a student on this campus in the early ‘80’s, so the Pointy Building was not there, yet. I had a class in the Engineering Building, but I was mostly somewhere else (Social Psych major). I think I also had a class in the Agriculture Building. I remember a lot of hills. It looks very different than the campus I knew. Thank you for the tour.

UPDATE for incoming students! The pointy building will be demolished this summer; it was discovered that it was built on a fault, and the school would rather divert the operational expenses for maintaining the building to other projects. It sucks that such an iconic building will be removed, but the area will be turned into an open study space (and the Japanese garden will be preserved).
Thanks for the info. My husband and his friend were going nuts because they always see the building on their way to work and suddenly it was gone.

The pointy building is vacant. They moved everything to the new building. When I was there, I remember hearing that it was to expensive to demolish.

Graduated from there years ago. The "pointy building" is called the CLA building(Classroom, Laboratory, and Administration building). I heard Calpoly schedule to demolish the CLA building in 2015, I'm glad to see it is still there. Very sad to hear the news of demolishing the CLA building. That building represents Calpoly Pomona! Years ago, I played pokemon GO there. haha lol, It's a good place to do so. Thx for posting this vid!

the student services building replaced the CLA "pointy building", it opened pretty recently and now the CLA is just a landmark in limbo.

The campus is cool
It is!
The building was building during the 1990. It costs $27 millions dollars. Everybody complained the building is so ugly. It look like the fortress. During that time, many professors got laid off due o financial hardship. We set up a graveyard with names of professors who got laid off. Whoever graduated during that time has a hard time to find jobs. However, many years later, all my Cal Poly friends are successful in lives. Most of them hold high positions in many companies. Most of them are also became multimillionaires.
I love Cal Poly Pomona although many years has passed. When I am a student there, we have not even have cell phone yet. Computers application are barely just invented and we have no world wide web yet. So basically, we have to borrow ton of books to read just to do term paper. :)
I wonder Cal Poly still follow quarter system?
