Some recent reformulations have actually improved. It's possible to work around restrictions as long as the company cares enough to put in some effort.

I tried a 2019 bottle, and I also own vintages of the original formula. Honestly the difference is not that pronounced. The base is more resinous and has more oakmoss but the current one is an excellent reformulation all things considered.

i owned a 2015 (or a bit older) bottle of Fahrenheit and i loved it but at the time, i thought that it was very "transparent" in the drydown. Then i ran out of that bottle and bought a 200ml sealed 2022 version. Its great because you smell a lot of oakmoss that is absent in the modern versions. And i understood throughout the years that Fahrenheit is not a dense scent at all. It opens up stronger with the petroleum / violet leaf note but the drydown is soft. The big difference between my old 2002 and the 2015 version is basically the oakmoss. It's nice to smell the oakmoss but i still like it even without it. The newer versions i never tried but sometimes you need to let it macerate a bit. perhaps in moths to come, you'll notice that it is stronger and richer.

@@Polyfusia Thank you! I have completely neglected this jewel for more than 20 years, but thanks to the Scentinel I am back on track. I have looked it up, the perfume version is from 2014 by Demachy, apparantly there was an absolute version but discontinued unfortunately. From what I read the perfume is missing the gasoline note but seems solid enough. So, I will probably take both. And if you are into the gasoline note, try Vorrei from Venti4- white flower/leather concoction (not in the negative sense) with a character. Take care!

Great video, Pep... avid (like completely unhinged avid) Fahrenheit collector here (21 bottles of the EDT ~ ranging from 1989 thru 2023 ~ all the flankers as well, and even more embarrassing to admit, collectibles like banners, scarves, travel duffles, etc... like i said, Unhinged).
In my opinion, 2015 was the last great year ~ all the notes were prominent... 2020 - 2023 bottles have a great opening but, as you perfectly state, are very smooth and disappointingly short lived.
Pro Tip (again, from a Fahrenheit Nerd), if you want an extremely close representation of Fahrenheit's glory years (1988 - 1995), and for dumb money, try Dua Brand "Celsius" (creative name right? 🙄)... as much as I typically loathe dupe houses I must admit, after a few months of maceration, the juice is nearly identical to my most vintage bottles in terms of opening, mid, dry down and longevity.
No, I am not affiliated with the brand and truthfully despise them as they have a history of not only duping the shit out of everything but also purging anything but 5 star reviews.
But that said, their Celsius is fabulous... and for $33 dollars US is a bargain.
    Outstanding content as usual, Pep!!

Your old bottle may have started to degrade a tad over the years. It changes. I adore this fragrance, it is brilliant and singular. Theres nothing else like it. It stands alone. It can be rock n roll or it can be classy. It is a fusion of both. It works year round because that gasoline and leather facet is perfect for fall winter and spring and it works in the summer because of the fresh ozonic grassy violet leaf and florals. I have over 50 bottles and Fahrenheit has the biggest dent in it. I think I will get a 200ml bottle next time. Cheers

Just picked up a small 10ml of vintage early 90s and it smelled exactly like the bottle I had in high school. Brought all the memories back. This past weekend I smelled the new version at Sephora. It was absolutely disgusting and synthetic smelling. The opening is harsher and smells cheap, but after you get through that it actually smells fairly similar just cheaper smelling, and then the drydown doesn't smell anything like the original. It's 'semi' in the ballpark but they've really cheapened this one out over the years.

Remember that since the 80s/90s many ingredients have been banned or restricted by IFRA, so today a 1:1 recreation of the original Fahrenheit formula, in accordance with regulations, is impossible.
