When I saw the clip of the train passing the house... I broke down in tears because I used to watch trains pass by my house when I was 5.... The line was then abandoned in the 80's... I'm 30 now so if I don't reply I might be looking at the old railroad line
I used to live near a class 2 railway in Mississippi that ran from my town to a town somewhere up north, I really enjoyed watching the trains sit idling near the town shops past the trestle, I’ve heard they’re getting more units to help run the line, I really hope the best for the railroad board who run that line.
This is what happened where I live, except it was a mine branch line that closed and the coal company left their Southern SD35 to rot. Very sad as it is probably the last high hood SD35 left in the US.
Wow. Just wow. That was beautiful work, even though it was kinda depressing. This really captured the outcome of many lines, though sadly, the Beeching Act of 1955 in Britain done this much faster. I really like the ghost effect used, and the TV static really boosted the quality. Great work, AmtrakGuy365, great work. Looking forward for more great videos
Reminds me way too much of my local railroad network, when I was a kid they operated daily passenger service and weekly freights, eventually they shut down the passenger service, and the freight trains became less frequent, the last train ran through my town in 2014 when I was a young teenager, and now there are plans on turning it into a trail. In the mid 20th century we had two major rail networks on my little island, each with dozens of locomotives and frequent use, now one is a trail and the other has been abandoned for the better part of four years, you would never know walking past some railroad landmarks that an entire fleet of steam locomotives used to operate here for almost half a century.
This video is so powerful, it reminded me of a line that I grew up by but got shut down, and the reason why I said its so powerful is because I started to cry at the end.
This video brought me to the point of huddling in a corner while tears poor from my eyes. I’ve always loved trains, but my favorite railroad is the Milwaukee Road, after all, I live within biking distance of where the Menominee valley shops used to be. And I can see myself looking at where it used to stand, and seeing nothing. I managed to get a picture of me and the twin smokestacks, the year before they were torn down. All of the old tracks, buried. Not even the cnw was saved, as I live near Mitchell yard, which is in ruins as it rots away. And now it’s happening again, another railroad will soon have vanished from Milwaukee: the Canadian Pacific. They’ve already sold off Jones island. Soon they’ll sell off the last remaining piece of Milwaukee Road history: muskego yard. It’s sad, and all I can do is sit beside the tracks with a camera and watch, for every train that passes by, is just another step towards the CP leaving town for good. It breaks my heart to know that this is all happening, and people don’t even care. This is a cruel city. Even city hall is leaving. Slowly, the huge building we know as city hall, is sinking into the ground. All we can do is watch.
This caught my heart.. It sorta gives me the thought if Penn Central was just left to die and what would happen to the famous railroads.... Thankfully they still live on in Norfolk Southern... And the same for the Hialeah Sub that I live near in Florida........... I love it....
Southern pacific would just give up on producing anything when up would shut down. Luckily they merged and southern pacific is now a part of union pacific.
Thats so sad! and i know the feeling here where i live especially across the River in Sheffield AL there's Tons of old Overgrown and Grownup Railway Tracks in the Area its so sad there's a Old Crossing on a Main High Way that's Still There and has been for years Untouched
This is what happened to the NP Skally line. It was a line from Saint Paul to Duluth, Very busy! Now it’s either bike path or short line railroads that don’t use the tracks as much.
+StarWarsTrains Mainly just a fictional representation but meant to show what happened to a lot of railway lines in Michigan and the Midwest during the 1980s.
AmtrakGuy365 Yeah, this happened to my hometown too; Dayton, Ohio. Once home to a bustling railroad hub, now practically dead and dormant with very little activity.

So, you the railroad was probably Norfolk & Western or Southern because I believe they only bought the SD35 High Hoods

That was amazing. It looks like you put a lot of time and effort into making that, and it paid off. Well done.

I cry with you...
Very hurtful to see america's best transportation system shutdown 😢😥😪
Even worse to have it replaced with a foot and cycle path! Great work on putting this video together.
Yes, very hurtful to see this. It's really to bad
It's so sad to see what happened to railroads after 1990, so much cuts, so many dead lines, even during the 50s. Everything is dead.
This caught my heart.. It sorta gives me the thought if Penn Central was just left to die and what would happen to the famous railroads.... Thankfully they still live on in Norfolk Southern... And the same for the Hialeah Sub that I live near in Florida........... I love it....

Mariothehero And the music in the 1930s-1950s part of the video has the best music.
***** I'm aware of that. I also know it's the Florida East Coast Railway.

This makes me sad about that abandonment
when I found out the line shut down I actually cried on the inside
This also happened to a old southern line near me. Thankfully a short line railroad bought most of the tracks

Bankruptcy and Modernization.
Is any of this on DLS?
What song is in the 1930s-50s segment?!
+SEABOARD COAST LINE PRODUCTIONS It was Dear Hearts and Gentle People - Bob Crosby
AmtrakGuy365 Isn't it also Bing Crosby?
SEABOARD COAST LINE PRODUCTIONS Its hard for me to say. They sound somewhat similar, some things say its Bing Crosby others say its Bob.
AmtrakGuy365 I know bing, since I've watched him in the movie "White Christmas". It may also be hard to tell with the other people singing.
by the way it is called the pacific electric
Like the song. #Fallout4
Me after watching and building a old railroad route:
What line is this based on? Any line in particular, or just a fictional representation?
+StarWarsTrains Mainly just a fictional representation but meant to show what happened to a lot of railway lines in Michigan and the Midwest during the 1980s.
AmtrakGuy365 Yeah, this happened to my hometown too; Dayton, Ohio. Once home to a bustling railroad hub, now practically dead and dormant with very little activity.
StarWarsTrains the most notable one was the abandonment of the PRR Fort Wayne line due to all the traffic being moved to the NYC lines
+WildTexan Engineer
I have been a firm believer that Norfolk Southern should have had the PRR from the beginning.
nice
Great theme song can you post the song
Great video

CSX in the 80’s:
