    Why don’t you just use Macro mode built in to the iPhone 14 Pro?

      The built-in macro has minimum focus distance of 2cm. You can get even closer with an attachable macro lens from Moment or Sandmarc

    How did you shoot macro in an old model? In the old models there is no option for macro photography

      Hi there, Macro Photography is available on the PRO models. However, you can use attachable lenses to do Macro Photography with the iPhone 13. We recommend lenses from Moment and Sandmarc for better results.

    Some of my favorite flower macros were taken with sun shining on the flowers. The shadows cast by the stamens and stigma can add interest, detail, depth even.

    He is amazing ! I love all the photography instructional videos from IPhone Phtotography School. I purchased the Macro lens which isn't easy to use because of the movement but Emil explains it so well that I am going to try using the lens again.       I just use my Huawei P60 Art. It does close up macro without any extra lens. There is nothing special about an iphone other than snob appeal.

    My doubt is which Lightroom for iPhone, I have to get, can you also explain to me how to use Lightroom? I just bought the Sandmarc lenses, but I don't like the ProCam.

    A really helpful video (as ever) but I have a question, please. Is there a way to take a macro shot with the background also in focus?

      It is possible. For that, we recommend focus stacking. Take a photo of the foreground, middle ground and background. Once done, you can merge them using a third party software such as lightroom to merge the photos and get the result you are looking for. :)

    I’m guessing you don’t have an iPhone 13 Pro or above since they have a built in macro mode that activates when you are very close to a subject

      We used an iPhone 11 PRO to teach this lesson, but we plan to updated it in the future. And yes! You are right, the newer macro lenses from Apple can create stunning results. However a lens attachment is still recommend should you still need to get closer to your subject :)

    there's another issue in my pro can, The image still shows a black area, after I did all the procedures that he told us to do. changing for 2X, I could get the image without the black area

    Hummmm🤔Which iPhone is he using?…because…I have the iPhone 13 ProMax…which has a micro camera capabilities natively on the phone…so…will I still need those micro lenses?…

      Emil used an iPhone 11 PRO. The newer models have better macro capabilities. You can get as close as 2cm, but if you want to get even closer, then an attachable lens form Moment or Sandmarc will be a great option.

    that was concise, calming, informative. just really top notch video. when you had the bug at that further angle with the stem of the plant blurring out away from the camera as a video, that was really good. did you use the iphone for that too? how?

      We used a digital camera to capture the scene of the bug on the stem, but it is possible to get the same effect with the iPhone and its macro feature. :)

    I just bought the Pro Can, when Emil started to set the configurations The first thing he does is Set the Image stabilization, mine doesn't show it. After UI Color the first thing that shows is : Manual Focus Assist. Is that the same or not?

    What is the model of this IP? Since IP13pro the wide angle câmera has autofocus and works like a macro lens too. The phone knows you are trying a macro and adjust focus. In the screen the traditional macro logo appears.

    Hello what Gimble or Rig for the IPhone 14 Pro Max would you recomend in the market now to use to take to take Macro ( i already ordered the Sandmarc Macro lence 10mm) I also saw the they have a grip and a rig for i phone. I like to do pictures and small videos in macro I ask mostly for the stabilization and not having to touch the screen to take a pic or record any suggestion to use any of these gadets? thank you!

    Hello just came across your channel thanks for the valuable information I went to the Sandmarc site and they have 2 macro lenses. ( 25MM and a 100MM ) which would you recommend I intentions it to used exactly as on your video mostly for closeups of flowers / nature

      There are different ways to achieve that. You can get close to your subject and focus on them, use Portrait Mode, or use third party apps like Focos to get blurry backgrounds on your images. :)

    It’s not the low light causing this , it’s the obstruction over the main sensor tricking the iPhone into thinking you need macro (wide angle) mode… go into settings and enable “macro control” in the camera settings this will let you disable auto switching of the lenses and you can still use the default app and choose which lens you want to use.

      I have the iPhone 14 Pro, and though macro mode gets you closer than ever before, you cannot get near as close as with a 10x add on lend he shown in the video, I am considering getting a macro lens.

    Great to have you back in front and behind the camera 👍🏼 I have a question though. If you have an iPhone with the build in Macro lens, do you even need to buy a Macro lens to attach to your iPhones camera? I’ve taken some of the most beautiful and stunning photos where I’m all the way inside a flower and they turned out amazing and the look up feature could even identify the species of flower 🌸

    That’s one thing I dislike about the native camera app, when it does not use the lens you selected sometimes. You’d expect if you chose the 2x lens, it will use that. That’s what the Black Magic app does properly.
