      +John Roberts They've had this tech for literally over 5 years, maybe 10 years ago I saw this roll up LED from a small japanese company. This was pre-youtube even. Let me see if I can find it--Ok found it, sony made this tech in 2010.
      Japanese electronics giant Sony said Wednesday it had developed what it called "the world's first" prototype flexible colour video screen that is small enough to be rolled around a pencil''- may 26, 2010

    • @gas0987654321
      @gas0987654321 8 лет назад

      +danyCD17 What possible implementations do you see?
      You can use them on the windshields, but that's already done by projection. But yeah, you can use LCD on any transparent surface, by the way, LCD is transparent by itself, and we don't need it to be transparent, in general.
      Like, where do you need transparent display?
      Do you need transparent monitor or phone?
      I don't think it's safe, at first.
      Transparent TV?
      I don't see the point of it.
      Even if your TV is transparent, from the backside image would be mirrored, and I think it should be clear that you will see everything behind it and the images would mix with each other.

    • @danyCD17

    Having a soft display like this pretty much means that our technology no longer HAS to fit onto a flat surface.
    Specifically, I can think of a few things. Imagine a rolled up laptop - that'd be pretty sweet, assuming the rest of computer laptop falls into line.. You could also use this in advertising, having soft displays like these that wrap around certain surfaces - like replacing those advertisements in the subway and things like that. Or, imagine a phone that's entirely covered with a display - you could literally change everything about how that phone looks. Or, you could make invisible cars and stuff having pairing these soft displays with cameras all along the surface of the car. Or, a million other things!

      +EveryThingTech Consumers like you are stems inhuman evolution. What if our ancestors had the same mind set against electricity, a system that paved the way for every that's human today? As a true tech enthusiast I've come to realize its not always about the practicality at the moment of its, but also the advancement in technological capabilities. Remember that once a TV, a computer and even a cellpone wasn't necessarily practical, but look how far we have came. Give room for advancement, don't be an impediment.
