I love this video and I just love the way cats trot. It's so bouncy, stealthy, graceful and carefree all at the same time. You captured the movements of this little tabby girl so well. She reminds me of my little angel with her white socks and graceful moves.
Actually the LORD God is the Creator of all things: seen and unseen; from the atom to the expanse of the universe. Mankind hates this because he wants to be his own god. So he comes up with lies to comfort himself....evolution, mother nature, etc.

I know this is a few years old and you might not see this comment, but in case you do, thank you very much. This is an invaluable resource for an aspiring animator. Thank you for developing the cinematography skills and training your lovely cat and sharing those things with us.
Cats are ,without a doubt the most Graceful and Beautiful creature God ever Created ! they are all the same from the smallest house Cat to the Greatest Lion or tiger ! A Puuurfect piece of work !
Great vid - thanx for sharing! Our cat (also a tabby) busted his leg a while ago and your video was really helpful to assess how a cat should be running at various speeds. From the transition between a run (not trot) to full-throttle I could see a clear difference in the timing of the paws hitting the ground and this confirmed that our cat is running as he should be. I was a bit concerned about him as he seemed to run a bit awkwardly but I can see now that this is normal for fast running (but different to flat out when both back paws are hitting the ground together) Thanx again!
Thank you so much! I really want to sketch out some running, walking, jumping, etc to get a feel for how cats move. You are helping a lot more than you may think! I do have a cat of my own but these slow mo videos help better some times!
Cats are, beautiful, elegant and classy and it stands out even more in slow motion. Notice that if the cat is not running, it places its back paws exactly where the front paws were. I love cats.
Good looking tabby, I like the spotted sides. I had this great big male with concentric rings I miss the little bugger. Someone spirited him away from my farm where he had a magical existence and kept me company for over 9 yrs:-(
Just imagine the body control needed for that. Cats are amazing. I came to see how they channel power from the back muscles. And yea. Thank you for making the perfect reference vid. Like many comments say. Artists needed this =)
Skipped because of precision. You can see how precise they are to jump up. They never step on anything so it was probably a calculated skip to avoid stepping on something later.
i love those jumps where they perfectly judge the hind leg position at the peak of the jump like in the first clip. It really is a thing of beauty. Such graceful animals.
I have noticed that there are a disproportionate number of quad guys that have and love cats 😀 Great video Chris. God I have to get a life. I posted this comment and then noticed that I said the same thing a year ago. Must be true then 😀
You know,,,,, I think it is time for some one to have a cat flying on a RC Plane!!! perhaps an FT Craken... Perhaps to take the cat as a baby kitten.. so it get use to it.. and don't panic... then a cat helmet with cat aviator glasses!! and a red scarf!!! that would be the day!!!
It's amazing how high cats can jump from a standing position. Compared to their height, a human would probably have to jump to the 2nd floor to match a cat.
can you filming your cat while he run , with the view in front of him ? face to * (maybe it's the good word) , I need for drawing exercise and i found anywhere a good pic for reference :(
The way cats land, always looked painful to me. You can see their whole body compress as the weight transitions from front to rear. Must be a biological thing, because my cats keep jumping off high things.
You weren't going fast enough for the cat to sprint or go full speed, it only ever galloped fast, it never sprinted. The closest the cat got to a full sprint was at 5:58, where it started sprinting, but not for long enough to reached full speed. An interesting detail is that the cats back paw will step where the paw in front of it just stepped, this means that the back paw does not need to crush down any leaf litter or snow meaning that they will get traction faster, and will allow the cat to the be sure that the location where its paw will step is stable, and they will already know the conditions of this spot, allowing them to adjust their stride in advance, allowing them to be very stable and avoid missteps. This behavior is present in both walking and trotting, but I do not believe it is present in galloping or sprinting. I also have a theory on why the cat skipped a step at 6:24, because it would have landed on the transition between 2 different types of terrain, making it hard to predict the step, so the cat opted to adjust the gait to skip the step altogether to avoid tripping or potentially interrupting their gait in an unpredictable way. Also at 7:38, the cat was not cross eyed, that was the cats 3rd pair of eyelids (which move horizontally) opening. many animals have this 3rd eyelid, in fact humans have the vestige (what remains of something but no longer serves a purpose) of the 3rd eyelid in the medial corner (closer to your nose) of the eye (a lot of people think this is the tear duct, it is not).
Does anyone know what the "reverse cross-eye reaction" from 7:25 is about? I was able to see it in the slow-mo but I'm curious. Is it normal? Why does it happen?
I’m gonna make a list of time stamps for this video

Actually humans domesticated them so it's humans creation

I marvel at cats for their agility and grace!
That is a very tolerant cat.
Very cooperative cat!
Such grace! Such elegance! Such athleticism!

Your kitty cat is so adorable, also this video is great for animators to see exactly how cats move. Thank you!
3:58 is so cute lol
Yes. I'm gonna use it to try to animate a cat
you have got a realy nice friend there !
Don't let Gareth Morgan see this video... how many birds were killed in the making of this clip? (LOL)
He is a POS.
I know this is from 2 years ago, but, is that Leafpool? (Warrior Cats fans will understand) XD
this a great reference for animation! thank youuuu
Friday night, wife and husbond discussing if horses and cats run in the same way. Found perfect video = profit!!
I was wondering the same, super glad I now have the answer !
So light and gracеful ❤❤❤ Like weightless. And no unnecessary movements. Beauty
The cat looks cute but slowed down I see a tiger
1:30
Marking it for my map part
This was way more entertaining and educational than I expected!
Having just helped my son with trig for an hour, I really appreciated the "I mean radians" :)

Obligatory "cute cat" video :-)
A home is just not a home without a cat or cats 🐈 😻 🐈⬛ 🐱 🐈
I ❤️ cats. They make the world a better place as most animals anyways :) 🌏
*Casually adds to the animation references*
I miss my cat :(
Its always fun Time I'm sorry for your loss :( ♡
Man, the stabilization of that thing is amazing! btw, I want a rig like that but I don't find the kitty in banggood, can you post the link?
2:53
I feel like this is what a cat on the moon would look like
as an animator thank you so much these are just what i needed!
What you saw in the end weren't cross eyes, but the nictitating membrane (damn that's so much more complicated than the german "Nickhaut").
Thank you so much! I really want to sketch out some running, walking, jumping, etc to get a feel for how cats move. You are helping a lot more than you may think!
I do have a cat of my own but these slow mo videos help better some times!
That is one clever cat, or well motivated.
Most cats will look at you with that distainfull look when asked to co-operate.
What a BEAUTIFUL spotted kitty! I love watching animals run, and "pounced" on this video to see the slow-mo. Thank you for posting it! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Cats are, beautiful, elegant and classy and it stands out even more in slow motion.
Notice that if the cat is not running, it places its back paws exactly where the front paws were.
I love cats.
that cat has an awesome home! cats love rural areas like that, and they are nice and safe with no roads
Good looking tabby, I like the spotted sides. I had this great big male with concentric rings I miss the little bugger. Someone spirited him away from my farm where he had a magical existence and kept me company for over 9 yrs:-(
Btw can you see one small detail? The back foot always goes where the front stepped, so the cat leaves only 2 steps, not 4
Just imagine the body control needed for that. Cats are amazing.
I came to see how they channel power from the back muscles. And yea. Thank you for making the perfect reference vid. Like many comments say. Artists needed this =)
Very interesting. What scares me is to think about duplicating cat motion with a four legged robot. Whew!
People who r here like me because they need to animate a cat🙃
Omggg... Didn't expect it to be this complicated! Amazing!!!
Beautiful cat :)
Why is it so many quad guys have cats.
The first jump was like somebody turned gravity off.
Skipped because of precision. You can see how precise they are to jump up. They never step on anything so it was probably a calculated skip to avoid stepping on something later.
Your kitty is so cute!! I love their little trots and gallops
I’m using this as reference for animating a fox, there aren’t many fox animations, so I think using a cat to see the movements is good, thanks!
Foxes actually move in a more canine like manner, so I suggest using dogs!
@@freechurro702 oh, thanks! Currently I’m not working on foxes, but I will try using dogs when I start again
@1 2 currently I’m not uploading my animations, I don’t think I really will as it’s mainly just practice right now
I really want a cat but both my parents are allergic. ;~;
Such a cool kitty! Also a fascinating study of feline body dynamics. Cheers!
i love those jumps where they perfectly judge the hind leg position at the peak of the jump like in the first clip. It really is a thing of beauty. Such graceful animals.
this is so good for people to learn animation
the fact that the cat has white paws makes it even easier
Super helpful! I'm using it to make animation :)
Cat is the most beautiful animal
No its Koala
🐨
I have noticed that there are a disproportionate number of quad guys that have and love cats 😀 Great video Chris.
God I have to get a life. I posted this comment and then noticed that I said the same thing a year ago. Must be true then 😀
Animators are screaming thank you
that cat definitely has love for you. super special and lucky. 🙂
God created Cats to allow man to touch the Tiger,
i see she's running the most recent version of CatWare.
thank you so much for this video it helps a ton with animation
love the kitty :-) nice footage
Thank you for this! This video helps me so much with my animation project! Cats are such beautiful creatures! :)
Само совершенство природы, чудо❤
I’m so glad that I found this! I can use these videos as a great reference for animation! Thanks for making this :D
1:00 needed for animation ^_^ beautiful cat and good references thank u
Ima just yionk this too, thank you for finding the right time stamp
The most perfect range of motion of any land animal ..... the ninja's of the animal world , the perfect predator ......... motion artistry

2:45 xD
You have a beautiful furry friend! Thanks for the video!
this video: * exists *
Animators: it’s free realestate
So true 🤣
Pov: You cant animate a cat
First time animating this helps so much
If you ask oliwii very very very nice he may loan you his new handheld gimbal. that thing is CRAZY.......Great job. Your No#1 fan
It's amazing how high cats can jump from a standing position. Compared to their height, a human would probably have to jump to the 2nd floor to match a cat.
awesome video! thanks for the effort you put in it. and your cat is really adorable :3
The final shot wasn't cross-eyed, what you see there is the third eyelid opening. Yes, cats have three eyelids.
You get that quadrunner on banggood?
Ah okay. This is what they mean by cats move both right feet then both left when walking. Giraffe’s also walk this way.
can you filming your cat while he run , with the view in front of him ? face to * (maybe it's the good word) , I need for drawing exercise and i found anywhere a good pic for reference :(
This is so helpful for animators
THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH!!
super star cat

🥰🥰
Cat gallops for a whole minute.
Cat: "That is it. I quit. I am going to lay down and nap. I'm spent."
What an obliging moggy! Defies the rule about never working with kids or animals. Great demo of the camera and gimbal.
Some on said cats are no bigger and a garden gnome but could kill you with the right placement of a claw.
How about "eat" and "play" - the 2 major movements I intend to watch....?
a few thousand years of living next to humans and they are still like tigers, only smaller.
you're an absolute godsend, this is the exact kind of reference i needed for my animation
Cats run as they walk, leg after leg, dogs run two legs together, followed by other two legs. Agility va speed.
Thank you for amazing animation references! ))))))))))
This video might be old but still great reference for animation XD
here we are, watching cat videos on the internet ... on not the first channel I'd think of but you definitely did a great job!
Is this a study for the next Robocat project? Yes, what do the animals sometimes think about us humans
Nice shots, perfect. Just what I was looking for and no more. Awesome
This is a great reference for animation! (Probably one of the only good references honestly lol)
Around 4mins you show the plates on your car. You might want to go back and block them out.
this is very helpful! im teaching myself animation and appreciate references like this
This is extremely helpful animation reference, thank you.
