Remember one child sleding down the hill in winter , ran right into a junk car, face smased, his yelling at to bbe aman and stop crying, he had a smased face
Norristown is the perfect little Philadelphia town, 5 miles from the city. Perfect mix of urban and suburban. I'm actually proud it didn't get run down like the rest of the small east coast towns. These buildings are over 100 years old. Classic architecture. Having heroin and the housing crisis destroy your community to no return is nothing to be proud of. I'm glad Norristown made it and retained it's charm.
I agree with everything you said, I love this city too and I'm not even from here. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, much love 🙏🏼 🙏🏼 ☝☝
More like 15 miles from the city, and isn't really seen as a suburb of Philaedlphia as say like Lower Merion, Plymouth Meeting etc. Back in the day, Norristown is where you would leave Philly to go to shop to as a change of pace.
It was nice to revisit my hometown, but what happened to Cherry St? It was a friendly, lively community, where everyone looked out for one another. Cherry City rules!
Wow...I left there when I was 16. Things have sure changed since 1971. I recognized my Grandma's house as it was unique on a block of row homes. Otherwise, I wouldn't have recognized what street you were on at that moment. I also saw where the Kitchenette was and the corner bar at Oak and Chain sts. We used to go in the back door and the guy would make us a zep for a quarter!
G and S.... legendary block. Remember Omar Jenkins that past away. He was a legendary young bull. He guarded Kobe in the Lower Marion game verse Norristown. He passed in a car wreck RIP. I'm from Green and Oak. I live in Tampa but I love my town!
Right? I'm tryna tell you Cherry Street was hood in the 80's and 90's you literally had to fight niggas lol that made me a man. But I don't know how it is now.
Great feeling to seen norristown i used to live in 501 nd 505 east airy street man u hit my block i was soo geeked to to see my old block i was 13when i left im 32 now thats deep. Ah can't forget Isaak & Steve's Pizza La Roma's Pizza
Man I love that family. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Nothing but love and respect for Norristown. I look forward to coming back when the weathers better so stay tuned. I want to catch the real vibe of the city when it's sunny outside and the energy is warm. Peace and blessing to you and yours 🙌☝☝

Uncle Harry was ambulance driver half century and painter at Montgomery hospital dad retired at. on visit during his retirement exerciese at gym, i unable to keep up. saw moon landing at neighbor pastors house next door. the son was permiscus as i recall him inticeded PR girl to show and tell? Luv the Sandwiches. lil show won best in Philly that year upsetting the big city..
This is interesting because I live nearby, and am always curious about these areas of Norristown, but cautious about driving through. So thank you for sharing this and having the bravado to do so! What is your take on why you never see any human life? Where is everyone?
I lived there for a year and a half, the crime was very minimal and the people are all super friendly and helpful. it’s nice to have KOP close by too
Used to sled down that hill
Any one remember back in the day trying to park those older big cars on those narrow streets
I got stuck in the old coal shute at804fairbsnks avenu
Norristown is to Philly what Greensburg is to Pittsburgh
Norristown is much friendlier. Everybody says hi. The kids at Wawa treat you like family.
Remember one night wen someone set the old car on fire at fairbanks avenu, the fire chief said thats it all these junk cars out

Thanks Leigh!! This video was done on a really cold day so most people were inside. A lot of my videos in better weather have much more activity.
How many people are you expecting to see in the middle of the winter?
Nobody brings up another town in daily conversation...
