The Parisian couture ended on a traditional note, with Yves Saint Laurent's poised presentation in the gilded salons of the Hotel Inter-Continental.
To the tune of a Verdi aria, Saint Laurent sent out impeccably proportioned pencil skirt tailleurs that revealed a masterful sense of color: an incendiary sunset-orange jacket, for example, was paired with a violet satin blouse and a black skirt.
Russian-inspired coats followed, trimmed in sable and worn with hearty turtlenecks and massive fur hats. Cocktail hour incorporated every possible variation on the tuxedo: there was a button-front dress, a smoking jacket that morphed into a full tulle skirt, and, naturally, an updated version of the masculine tux immortalized by Helmut Newton in the '70s.
Saint Laurent's suggestions for evening, alas, felt a bit cumbersome.
Light crepe gowns, jeweled jackets and satin skirts alleviated some of the heaviness, but, for the most part, black velvet dominated.
If only the exquisite color combinations that opened the show could have been reworked for the finale.

She is perfect for YSL
Sublime models! I enjoy he adds diversity of models in his collections. The 32:25 dress, gloves evening dress is impeccable
Impeccable clothes! Timeless chic! Some of those pantsuits are incredibly constructed and faultless! If they had ditched the hats and gotten a different stylist the press would have raved. Unfortunately I think by then it was too late to change the fusty image but in hindsight these clothes are just so gorgeous. One could wear them today and be still in vogue!
Очень красивая мода , женственная спасибо за показ.
Regio!!, Purísimo Glamour!, distinción y Elegancia!!, Oh! La la!, Muaa!!, desde Venezuela!!
very elegant but a little outdated
This collection was so old fashioned in 2001 and I still see it that way today. Some of the designs are lovely and the workmanship is phenomenal but YSL never was willing (or able) to adapt to the times. His designs from the 1960s and 70s were amazing and some of 80s stuff was great too but this just looks like fussy rich old lady clothes. I prefer the styles of KL for Chanel or Ralph Rucci from this era. It was much edgier and more flattering.
Well, please remember, when this was shown; in early 2000's, fashion was about to bring out everything in innovation that was possible; besides that, you are right, Chanel by KL was far more modern and chic. The tragedy is: look at the colours, YSL was a master of mixing colours - and the most important one he uses is black. I would say that he had known that he was done; what would you feel like: you were one of the most admired couturiers in history - and recognize, you're done.
Although you are perfectly right, this makes me quite sad - but that's fashion.
@@jorgkukla8097 I love your comment. Beautifully said.
This collection is pure class and if you see it otherwise it's you that doesn't get it.
@@alphaomega17 No...I get it. I just don't particularly like it.
Beautiful collection the cuts and the colors..Ysl tailoring is unbeatable. And also please tell me first song title. Thank you

is this the actual music ??
i was expecting some classical ones ...
This is not the original soundtrack. For this show arias and duets by VERDI were used.

Quite obviously for someone who used to work for the company,YVes DID NOT design these clothes.
Ufff!, verdadero modelaje!!
Hermoso.
Me encanta el Realismo!!, y no el Surrealismo con vestidos plásticos "Futuristas", exebtos de Feminidad!, de Chic Glamour!!, desde Venezuela!!
fantastic show
only and only Yves Saint Laurent could produce this quality , and recognizable among all other designers line , simplicity , colors, pure quality of execution , chic /èlégance , timeless Style , YSL was the last Haute Couturier with codes that belong to his house only and surf fashion , "indémodable"....Master of the last Masters...

I always get sad watching this collection: it's absolutely perfect in taste, ouststanding materials and shows everything what it takes to be a lady - it's gone. I think, he was totally aware of what's been going on, but wanted to show just one more time his essence of elegance.
Who opened the show

What song is it at 14:12
I love Antony, but there is a limit to his designs, when I look at these designs, it is really the peak of ysl. Not only the designs, but I don't like ysl mannequins right now
