also it's memorable and is one of Van Damme's best films

One thing I prefer from Pyun's cut is Tony Riparetti's music score. Kevin Bassinson's score sounded very cheap, even for the late 80s. Bassinsons score though has some great themes, very unnerving too. Ideal mix would be to have some of Riparetti's score on the theatrical cut

In addition to the obvious re-editing Sheldon, JCVD, and crew did, that movie in its final form would not have the same impact without Kevin’s score, which is awesome. I absolutely love this movie; it’s actually the first JCVD movie I ever saw, and I saw it in a theater as well.

This movie always resonated with me. It's world was gritty, dark and scary. It was "grounded sci-fi". A world with vague hints of advanced tech(Metal Gear Solid). It was also strange but awesome seeing Van Damme in a sci-fi movie(same with Time Cop). The scenes where Van Damme is crucified and the scene where the robot lady takes off her wig always stuck out me(especially the crucifixion scene). The villain also kept the tradition of Van Damme going up against scary/creepy looking villains. Me and a coworker always joked that Van Damme has the coolest Rogue's Gallery of villains lol. All scary looking, final boss tier guys.

I remember Cyborg coming on regular TV and my older brother and I were huge Jean Claude Van Damme fans. I had to be about 5 or 6 years old and we were happy because we didn't have cable TV back then at that time, so it was an extra special time to have caught Cyborg on TV. My mom was cutting our hair at the kitchen table. One of my uncle's friend's had walked him to our front door and it was the last time I saw my uncle alive. What's crazy is that was exactly 30 years ago and I could still remember it like it was yesterday. My uncle was rushed to the hospital that night and my mom told us to just finish watching the movie. A part of me wanted to disobey her to see what was going on with my uncle out of concern but I also was obedient to my mother and I really wanted to finish the movie. After watching the movie and seeing JCVD being crucified and coming back avenging himself I honestly felt that anything was possible and I thought my uncle would bounce back. Later the next day my brother told me my uncle wouldn't be coming back home. Sorry for this type story but it's the memory that comes to mind when I think of that movie. A part of me felt bad for not getting involved and holding his hand or doing something and another part of me felt very grateful that I had jean Claude Van Damme to distract me from seeing my uncle like that. I honestly don't watch that particular movie of his because of the memories associated with it but after that I'm a huge fan still watching and owning mostly all of his later movies on VHS, DVD and I will go back and maybe try to watch cyborg on Blu-ray.

I truly enjoyed Cyborg. I saw the film at a friend's house around 1991 after hitting the gym (yeah, two 14 year olds coming back all pumped and thinking we were jacked as heck-lol!) and we saw it with his dad, since he rented it from the local video store close to where I lived. I believe it was Video World if im not wrong. Just the opening scene of the naked woman crucified and burnt on the stake at the same time, along with Fender's opening monolgue, kept me glued to my seat. And when JCVD did the split in the sewer overhead, and slashed Rolf Moeller (the big bodybuilder guy) from face to crotch with his blade, I never saw anything like that before at that time. And yes, the iconic crucifix scene is still one that we look back and remember with nostalgia. Yes, Cyborg is not the cup of tea for many people. I for one really enjoy it. You can tell that JCVD at that time was really hungry for success and he put everything on the line to become the icon he is today. Kudos, man. This is truly another great video.
