I love these sets, they're great looking!! I love that the mods can be done really easily to get the different looks as well. These mods look awesome as well!! I would argue the dark grey headlamp brick behind the numberplate simulates the bumber plate mount. Makes no difference looks wise, but I get possibly why they did it.
Thanks for the compliments. I see what you're saying about the grey brick, but for a defender, it doesn't really have anything under it, maybe a strip above the number plate, for its light. But in any case, its and easy MOD and I think I prefer it in yellow. I think the next thin to do is try and re-build teh set in different colours... not sure what to do about the printed headlights though!
Personally, I love the default model that's slightly modified (planning to do the same when I get the set). However, the pick-up truck model is really cool, definitely a runner up imo.
Yes, the pickup DEFINITELY needs a farmer and dog... I'll go and get two out of storage. As for the NAS, it needs a bunch of rich American teenagers in it ! (Hope you're doing well)
@@MinifigJez I'm good, just busy with boring life stuff rather than fun video stuff. I'm not sure I have ever seen a NAS in real life but it probably wouldn't suit the Scottish weather.
@@SketchyMaker They're still nice and rugged, but teh soft top maybe wouldn't get used that much, the canvas would stay ON most of the year! I hope life settles down and you can get back to your amazing 3D printing videos some time,
I agree on the front jumper prints, in this instance stickers would make far more sense for those people that want to recolour the vehicle, I am one of those and I'm sure there are many others. This would be such an obvious thing to do, I just can't understand why LEGO would miss this
I believe it's because they don't normally do prints on such a piece, only very flat pieces. A sticker with a hole in the middle of it, that you have to line up around a stud, would be quite a tricky thing to do, and would turn a lot of people off. The two alternatives that I can think of are either just use a black 2x2 jumper, or I'm considering scanning in the yellow piece and making a custom sticker for a re-coloured version.

Yes, they are Lego wheels, but they are just pretty rare. They were only made in 2 colours, and the silver ones were only ever in 2 sets, back in 2005. You can see them here: www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=51377#T=P&C=67

Thanks, I think the wheel on the bonnet is the best part of the pickup. The doors are nice too. Both of which could be added to the default version.
I'm really thinking about getting one and do a Camel Trophy style modification to it.
That would be really cool, just make it a bit longer and stick a LOAD of stuff on the roof !!
Very creative mods! I like the pickup version the most. I feel like it should be driven by farmer and have a dog in the back.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked them. Which one was your favourite?
Idea.
Add a ladder rack like the cage for the back of the pickup.
Do you mean like the ones that people put on their Landrovers, to get up onto the roof?
What yellow is this on Bricklink? It's not standard yellow. Please help.
